Four Police Officers Gunned Down In Small Town Near Tocoma Washington

The city of Lakewood Washington police department had 4 officers gunned down today.

The slaying of the four police officers marks a terrible milestone for a department that just celebrated its fifth birthday.

For the first eight years of its existence, the City of Lakewood contracted with Pierce County for law enforcement services. But rising costs and other frustrations led Lakewood officials to form their own department in 2004.

Please keep your guard up at all times. We are not immune.

God be with us all.

'Last Call' At 4 a.m. In Atlanta? Official Says City Should Study The Idea

"Buckhead Coalition president and former mayor Sam Massell said the possible revenue from an additional 90 minutes for party-goers to drink is not worth the potential trouble".

"This peace and tranquility for residents and visitors is more important than the visitor who feels the necessity for rowdiness and disturbing the peace," said Massell, who's also a board member of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau".

All the visitors have to do is come to DeKalb County where our bars stay open until 6:00 AM, with the police working the door!

Smoke and Mirrors

C.E.O Ellis states in a letter to all county employees "...there will be one unpaid holiday. Despite what you have heard, there have been no furloughs or unpaid workdays".

He just failed to mention "but you just wait to next week!"

Click here to read his letter.

Yet Lt. Padrick from Chief of Police O'Brien's office sent an email that reads in part, "all county employees will work their normally scheduled working days at a reduced rate of pay".

Send in the clowns, because this is starting to look a lot like a circus.

Thankful For What?

First the commissioners stopped paying us for unused sick time. Now they are not paying us for working Friday November 27, which is a holiday. They also are taking the holiday away from those who just happen to be on a regular off day that day. Commissioner Stokes says, "It's just one holiday". We say to Commissioner Stokes: You're an idiot.

Over all it amounts to a 10% pay reduction for everyone during that pay period. Of course the pay reduction will appear on the first check of December, just in time for your last minute holiday shopping.

It is being predicted the 2010 county budget will be in the tank even more than 2009's. Grab those ankles ladies and gents, because the county commissioners have more in store for us.

Oh, and just in case we forget to mention later; Happy Thanksgiving!

Magic Buses Are Still Around And Being Used

After we thought we had seen the last of the Magic Buses with the exit of Tebo, low and behold they reappear. This time, one was used at Center Precinct on Halloween as a haunted house. Now that is some fine police work.

The other was used for a fish hatchery. It was flooded during the recent flood while it was at the repair shop....again. Wonder what the repair bill will be on that baby?

Will this ever end?

Gwen Keyes Fleming, District Attorney

Not long ago we posted that we have a couple of irons in the fire. One of those irons are nearly ready.

We just wonder how long it will take Ms. District Attorney to have our blog blocked by the county IT people.
