Well that was stupid...oh wait, it's PC...The fire Dept responds to false alarms every day. Now they will be banging on doors, holding on scene longer, wasting time and fuel. Longer response times throughout the county.
These were good pepople, it takes a man [or woman] with a stainless steel pair to go into the places these guys go and do the things they do. Scapegoats to the PC grist mill.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A DeKalb county police officer has been arrested on charges he raped a woman in custody and offered to release another woman if she exposed herself to the officer, police said.

Jeremy Reynolds has been charged with rape, aggravated sodomy and sexual assault against a person in custody. The officer has also been charged with two counts of violation of oath of office.

The woman Reynolds is accusing of raping is a prostitute, according to sources.

Sources tells Channel 2 Action News reporter Mark Winne that the officer was taken into custody after he reported to work on Friday.

The Fire Department received a call of a fire. We have all heard the 911 tape by now. It was very clear. The address was clear and the situation was clear. And what did our firefighters do? They didn’t even get off of the damn truck to knock on the door! How do you possibly defend this?

Firefighters only work a few hours a week. They spend a lot of their on duty time sleeping or otherwise screwing off. When they actually get a 911 call of a FIRE you would think that the FIRE department would at least take it serious enough to check out the situation before heading back to sleep.

Maybe if they had to work as hard and as many hours as the police department, they would be thankful for what they have. WZ Miller fired their LAZY asses and I can not fault him on this one.

I guess an average work week of 53 hours isn't that much. That last post is laughable

Anon #3, I'm a police officer. You had my full understanding and agreement with your comments in your first paragraph, but after that I lost a lot of respect for you. Perhaps you are just venting in anger as it pertains to this very sad and tragic incident.

In one week, our firefighters and those in many other jurisdictions, work a 24 hours shift and then they are off for 48. Some pay periods that equates to 48 or 72 hours in 7 days! That is much more than the 40 hours we are pretty much resticted to (excluding part-time jobs) because the county doesn't want or seems to have to pay us overtime. Now, if you want to compare the fact that many of us have to work part-time jobs in order to just get by, well keep in mind that many of them do too such as landscaping or carpentry/handyman stuff.

By the nature of their profession, they are paid to be ready to go during those 24 hours whenever the calls come in. When they are on duty, I have personally seen them conducting training classes, performing vehicle and equipment maintenance, and other mundane responsibilities such as building inspections and fire hydrant inspections. They do not always just sit around eating, sleeping, and watching TV.

Again, I'm a DeKalb police officer; not a firefighter. I'm just being fair and realistic. Your comments would be more credible if you did too.

On another note, how many times are fire personnel disgracing the uniform they wear compared to some very bad apples we have wearing ours? This incident is certainly a black mark for our fire department. But, compared to all the criminally inexcusable things that have taken place in our department and shamefully still do, any comments being made about them should be expressed with a deserving degree of respect and fairness.

I sm s veteran police officer. Just like with any job you have your good people and bad people. If it's true than it was an awful decision on his behalf. I pray for him and the victim because no one wins in this situation.
