Sure glad that didn't happen in my precinct... had it happened in my precinct, the Major would be firing off emails to the lieutenants... who would be holding the uniform officers and the sergeants responsible. The buck stops with the officers and the sergeants...

Just a thought...where was that precinct's NET team and ICP when all this happened? I'm sure the watch officers and sergeants were answering calls and checking alarms.

Just saying

Christmas Tree? Get your family out of DeKalb County before your home is invaded, your car is stolen, and your robbed at gunpoint. Oh wait, you're a DeKalb taxpayer, you've already been robbed.

Anonymous said...

Yeah the Lts and Sgts with any balls said SUCK IT and left a long time ago.

Could happen anywhere, even in Dunwoody or Alpharetta. I feel for them, but I'm tired of those that set themselves up to be victims and then bitch about where the police were. Stopped in a store the other day, nice, customized F-150 parked there, engine running and no one with it. Owner comes out and I tell him if he keeps it up, the truck will be stolen. He gets an attitude; the idiot. How many times have you taken a report from some idiot that left their laptop on the front seat of their car. Now they have a busted window and no laptop. All they want to do is complain to you about how it's your fault.

Must have been a gold plated Christmas Tree

I stand by my claim that most of Dekalb is a criminal dump.

There are more empty suit police commanders and supervisors in this agency than Ive ever seen.

DKPD is a joke of an agency. We are big and bad but crime goes up and the county commission robs the coffers and craps on the citizens and employees.

City of Tucker anyone? A group has already formed to see if any support exists.

No, it could not happen in Alpharetta. They have a magical force field of protection which originates at the Alpharetta Police station and covers the entire city.

Seriously though, Alpharetta at least investigates crimes. Dekalb CID just tosses half the theft cases into the file cabinet with literally zero follow up. Burglaries magically get downgraded to theft by taking to make the stats look good. Alpharetta would fire a commander for allowing that.

What does this crime have to do with the command staff or supervisors for you to lash out? Do you feel that it's their fault the tree was stolen?
Where were you during this crime? Was it your territory perhaps? Sitting at QT getting your free coffee? Maybe a neighbor saw what appeared to be some yard work being done and they overlooked it and thought nothing about it. We are nothing without witnesses and prof to prosecute.
Keep your ignorant rants logical and on point. Attack when you have something if not just shut up and clear on calls from your parked county unit.
The Truth

It seems everyone is now okay with the DeKalb way of life so guess there is no longer a need for this blog according to recent comments. Or could it be everyone that cared has left the building?

Clearing calls? This is seriously the best Dekalb can to do. Dekalb PD is a reactive agency not a proactive one.
Your empty suits have gutted what was once a great police department.

The City of Tucker will only come after Brookhaven and Druid Hills get the hell on. Once Tucker realizes that they will be stuck sharing the tab with South Dekalb, they'll stop being lazy then. Lets hope the City of Stonecrest doesn't beat them to it and they get stuck taking in the rest of what is left the county, lol.

How many more wrecked/totaled new cars will it take for our Chief to realize that he should have given them to Sergeants and passed down theirs to the line Officers. This has always been done in the past, not sure why it changed this time but it seems to be back firing big time. I know Tucker alone has totaled 3 and wrecked 5.

I remember a cartoon that floated around the department many years ago that had a picture of vernon jones dressed like santa with his pants pulled down and sitting on the top of the chimney of a DeKalB officer's home and the caption above read..."your christmas bonus is on the way".
Some things never change.

Anonymous said...

New cars were given to MPOs and not Sgts because the bleeding of the MPOs leaving was trying to be addressed and that's all that could be offered. Even if a starting officer doesn't have his own take-home unit in other agencies their supervisors CERTAINLY do. DeKalb knows if a Sgt is still here they don't ever expect to get anything again and aren't going anywhere and have been permanently broken just as these same MPOs will be if they stay long enough.

I get a sick feeling in my stomach anytime I'm unfortunate enough to have to drive through DeKalb. To quote Dante, "Hell is a place where there is no reason" and that's EXACTLY what DeKalb has become. You will again appreciate the holidays once away from that shit-hole for a few years I promise.

Most of you do know how to make a decision or do a dam prelim, or fill out warrants. but you can turn in a vac request just fine.

First : Much thanks to the fine young officer who reported the two less than honorable DeKalb Officers who descided to hide behind the Precinct and wup up on some slime bag that spit on them.

Second : Who trained the two that are now fired and facing charges ?

Third : I guess that their Field Training Officers were fattened up from all the Free Food being fed them to look the other way from Illegal Gambling, Over Pouring, Illegal Drugs on the premises of these same bars and the Prostitution there also !

Fifth : For Your Information, no business gives Police oficers "free meals" on a weekly basis that they are not corrupt !

HAS IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE THE DEKALB COUNTY POLICE DEPT IS BEING RUN BY PIMPS AND THUGS AND DRUG DEALERS !

If the above is not true then Chief O"Brien, Director Miller and The South Precinct Commander should begin their march on Moreland Ave and Cedar Groove Road tomorrow !

Failing to do so their ouster should be called for as the Citizens of DeKalb County deserve better !

Your failure to act has left not just ordinary citizens to be run down and killed by Over Poured Fools in this County but now a fine young Doraville Police Officeris slain by yet another wrong way over poured fool in DeKalb !

Your job is To Protect and Serve not sit down and eat when it comes to crime !

Someone said on this blog somewhere that our commission took one of the richest counties east of the Mississippi with one of, if not the best police departments in the country and completely ruined it in 20 short years. I sure can not help but agree with this statement. They took a nice big bowl of vanella custard and stired a spoonful of dog crap right into it and ruined the entire thing...what a sad, sad state of affirs.

Our small city agency gave us all $50.00 gift cards. Surely local businesses gave you guys something?

To Anon 6:51 PM...

I said that and I have been saying it for a few years now. Its not some recent thing that just occurred. It has nothing to do with race but it has everything to do with mindset. Criminals run the show now in DeKalb and it started on day 1 when vernon jones took office several years ago. It became public knowledge (for those of us who were listening) when he declared "I am the chief of police"! Am I the only one who remembers that?
Last one out turn off the lights!

We arent doing anything about it? Been making felony cases for years pal, been busting mine for years. Dekalb is a dump and the county govt is completely broken and corrupt.
If you stay god for you...I guess....but dont be blind to the truth that most of Dekalb is a high crime cess pool.

Anonymous said...

To Anon December 5, 2011 5:30 PM. You are an idiot. Just tell me the difference between "Hillbillyville" and "Gettoville". Thought so.Crime is everywhere. Its a shame Dekalb is always in the news for the crimes the officers have committed, then the arrest they have made. You dont seem to have a problem with the commissoners getting free food that the tax payers pay for. You are one of the reasons Dekalb has fallen so far and will never never recover... Police Officers Wanted. If you have a Criminal< no problem, just like getting a used car. Most Dekalb officers are criminals or other Department reject.

Anonymous said...

Ever wonder why we only train ticket writers? Or why the dope hub of Atlanta (DeKalb) has less than one narcotics detective per precinct? In case you still haven't figured it out yet officers here are not wanted to make big cases. Much more revenue could be brought in from dope cases than citations but all of the hard hitters have been run off. Citation agendas are just a distraction for officers so the real DeKalb perps can continue business as usual. Most of the precinct commanders are too dumb to realize the real issues behind their ordered agendas and too cowardly to ever question them.

Anonymous said...

Most of us that have been around for a while know that the 28 dealers have been forced inconspicuous from our former sheriff and current bishop. DeKalb is as corrupt as they come my friends.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, no one wants CID digging too deep into drug trafficking in Dekalb obviously. Only significant cases made lately came from Feds.

Before I leave town a few weeks for the Christmas Holidays I would just like to say that as a retired DeKalb Police Officer the only thing that REALLY matters is officer safety. Coming home after your shift alive and uninjured is all that matters. YOU are the last line of defense for each other when it goes bad and we have got to protect and uplift one another. Those of you who have been there a while understand the criminal element in DeKalb wants to hurt you if you get in thier way. That is what this blog is all about....putting a burr under the saddle of the criminals that infest DeKalb and exposing them. Never loose sight of this.
Tis the season to be robbed in metro Atlanta. The danger level for line officers (and for citizen victims) is now off the chain. 99.99% of the public truly do not understand this, but most actually dont want any harm to come to you, and small percentage of them actually love you for what you do. My point is, it is ok to bitch and moan and complain. Thats just venting frustration that come with this impossible job. But, never loose sight of the big picture and never let your guard down, and NEVER turn the spotlight away from the criminals in Decatur...thats what they truly want.
Merry Christmas Dekalb Police Officers. I love you! Wheres the egg nogg....

Thinking it's time for another retirement window. Agencies much less stressful than Dekalb along with the military realize mandatory 20 years and out is necessary to eliminate a collection of burned out officers and high salaries.

At your small agency the businesses gave you a $50.00 gift card; that's great. As I've said before and will say again, since we are a large department the county can't compete with smaller agencies. But, many of the communities and businesses donate food and time to precinct Christmas parties and to them we are very thankful. This all goes back to what your expectations are. I don't expect a gift card from the businesses in DeKalb, never have. The thanks I receive a Christmas is just fine with me.
What many citizens in these new cities aren't thinking of when they start a police department, is the number of officers that are needed and the number they can afford to hire. If the shit hits the fan in any of our precincts, the department can start additional officers from other units and if need be, we can have 100+ boots on the ground in short order. Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, etc. can't do that.

Anonymous said...

If anyone wants to buy Dekalb Fire ambulances they are on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-FORD-F450-AMBULANCE-TAYLOR-MADE-/220911117794?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item336f5425e2#v4-36

When more new cities are formed they will probably auction off all the Dekalb PD cars too.

Anonymous said...

Why would anyone want a hard driven vehicle with 150,000+ miles on it?

Anonymous said...

You dont need 100 officers on the ground when your city is a nice place rather than the war zone parts of Dekalb have become.

Funny how Sandy Springs now has almost triple the amount of officers in the same area than when Fulton Co PD ran things.

When police chiefs need help they can call in whoever they need, doesnt really matter who the primary agency is.

Anonymous said...

Oh yes they can. Its called a "Mutual Aid Agreement". Part of GEMA. All departments have them.....

Anonymous said...

Wow!!!!!! I don’t come to this site often but I was shocked to read some of the post that I just read. Like most of you I logged on to complain about all the crap we have been dealing with, but as I started to read your post I had to stop. DeKalb Police department has problems, we can all agree on that but most of those have nothing to do with us being on the street locking up perps. Fighting crime is the reason most of us came to DeKalb and not some smaller agency.
And to the officers from the smaller agencies who are posting your crap to this Blog. You are there because you could not be here. DeKalb officers are highly sought after by other agencies (yours is no exception) because we are among the best trained in the southeast if not the country, but yes sometimes we do get a “spoonful of do do” as do all agencies.
To the DeKalb officers we are not the problem, most of us hit the street and want to fight crime and enjoy doing so. If you happen to be among the small percent of lazy officer who just want to get by then maybe you should conceder a smaller agency. The problem is the BOC. Thank about it if we were not dealing with; No raises, increased insurance payments, No sick checks, stolen annual leave, furlough days, cut Holidays, and all the other shit I can’t even think of right now this would still be a Great “Career”. So let’s stay focused and concentrate on the real problem (BOC) and what we can do about it.

Anon 12/09 @ 9:30pm , Gee, rookie thanks for your insight. Look I know you feel the need to compensate for your "small department". That's why we just nod and smile when you guys tell us all the intimate details about your latest crack pipe arrest. News flash kid; the mutual aid button has always been to call DKPD. I reality APD, DKPD, Cobb PD and GWPD don't call (insert small department here) because this crime or incident overwhelms them. I and many other DKPD officers and detectives have stepped up and handled the situation the smaller departments in the county couldn't or wouldn't handle. Funny, I can't ever recall seeing a letter of appreciation or commendation from another department but maybe I wasn't privledged to see the correspondance. Rookie enjoy your department and all the little benefits it provides you. And thank you for enlightening me to the existence of mutual aid agreements. And one other thing rookie, you might go your entire career and maybe once do what most of DKPD does on a weekly basis. And we do it with out take home cars, gift cards or whatever. We do it because it's a calling not a job.

Anonymous said...

Yeah thats why Dekalb officers are fleeing for other agencies every year. I work with several former Dekalb officers who have told of the broken Dekalb PD and the absolutely corrupt county govt.

The quality of officer Dekalb is hiring has declined over the years. Dekalb used to be a flagship agency and hard to get on with.

Sure, there are lots of great officers at Dekalb but the agency and its leadership have sharply declined.

Anonymous said...

You know guys/gals you can join S.O. Reserve Program and make more working extra jobs alone than the BOC will pay you a month in current police salary. With the pension essentially becoming unaffordable next year why on earth would ANYONE stay at PD?

Anonymous said...

YES SIR, two days a month at DeKalb S.O. and all the part-times you'd like to work. Not to mention our Sheriff has yet to furlough ANYONE.

Anonymous said...

I'll be surprised if a ton of vested supervisors don't leave DeKalb with the pension changes coming. They can always get lateral employment with other agencies and keep their rank or gain some.

Anonymous said...

PD tried to start a reserve program to help out with weekend call volume, etc but AS USUAL they failed to accomplish it. I believe for insurance reasons from Legal but not positive. They also threw the wrench in the 12 hr shift plan. Deklab's ONLY Plan of Action to date: WRITE TICKETS AND SHUT UP.

Anonymous said...

Blogmaster or LoFlyer....

Does anyone know what is actually going on with the pension next year? There was a proposal posted on this blog a short time ago that was leaked out from the "employee relations committee" that showed the pension would double and it also advised that employees could go to the hybrid plan if they elected to (via a one time option that could be exercised).
A poster advised that he contacted the pension board and they said the pension contributions may go up a quarter of one percent in 2012...not double. Can anyone shed some light on this? Its getting real close to 2012 and as far as I know, no one has heard anything from the county one way or another (surprise surprise!)

I can already hear the opposition now... Dekalb officers are here because they want ONLY to protect & serve. This response is from a) Management afraid to lose yet MORE officers. b) A true moron that knows ONLY following antiquated laws and orders legislated from a self-serving corrupt political plateau. c) Computer virus that continually spouts out the same rhetoric like the annoying pop-up boxes on various web pages. In any case, it is past time to think outside the box at DeKalb and start making serious and viable changes before PD withers away into obscurity, which may in fact be by design at this point.

Los Angelis County, CA has 198 incorperated cities. The LAPD and LASO once has total reign over the county. There are now more than 140 separate city departments there.

Dekalb, Gwinnett, Cobb, Fulton will all see this as time goes on.

Dekalb is a broken county run by corrupt criminals and they have ruined a once great county police force.

Dekalb PD will continue down hill. Get out while you still can.

Obviously new and still lapping up the water. Taste good. But at some point that water loses its flavor and will actually taste bad. Then all your poppycock about Dekalb and your workload, and your "calling" will go out the window. Better people have come before you and are now long gone.

Thank God there are fools like you who will still carry the flag.

To quote Napoleon ... " I have made the most wonderful discovery, I have discovered men will risk their lives, even die, for ribbons!"

But with you its for a badge. Better you than me.

One day you'll wake up (and maybe you wont) and realize that you got used by an organization that doesn't give two ----- whether you live or die. Nor care for the well being for you or your family. You living with parents?

Oh thats right ......you do it because ......its a calling.

DKPD is a has been department awash with racial strife and an incompetent command staff commandeered by an equally racist and incompetent BOC.

The BOC and the Command Staff depend on fools like you to carry the flag and if need be,,,,,,,,,,,,,die for a ribbon. When are gonna figure that out?

Now go write some J2 fool!!!!!!
