The county knew of this and let him continue to work the road?
Double standards!!! Had that been a PO I or MPO he would have been removed from his duties and placed on administrative duties. The county knew of this a week ago. APRIL 9, 2013

Keep your crap in Dekalb, and outta Forsyth County.

Never heard of him and I'm in DeKalb CID...where does he work?

Wanna be depressed MORE? Go to Facebook.com/wsbtv and read all the comments... I knew we weren't loved, but my God!

It was only a matter of time before DKPD made the news again. Things were a little too quiet lately. What has happened to a force that others looked up to?

Get ready for all of his cases to be reviewed for any misconduct or arrestees who alleged that he was short tempered.

Come on let's think about this, a 25 year police officer and a Sergeant at that.
Wouldn't you think he would know after being a detective that drive thrus have cameras.
I'm guessing he didnt get his two all beef patties with special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions all on a seasame seed bun!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMN! Talk about stressed out!!

Its stuff like this that further solidifies the publics distrust for police not just in DeKalb but everywhere. Its a tragedy that DeKalb PD and can never save its face without getting black eye after black eye...

Probably not because we get into this mode that we think that just because we are cops, we think that we cannot do anything wrong. What we do not realize, is that we are still human beings who think that just becausue we carry a badge, we think that we are powerful and perfect.

Some of us go thru life and something snaps inside our brain, and the end result.....failure. We accomplish getting promoted and this also creates an image that we are the best mankind has to offer. We are not and never will be.

For this particular officer, it was a fast way of ruining his career, his life, probably his home life, and now his pocketbook.

Simply put.......a waste of talent and life.

People should pull away from the window and then check their bags.

Biumi is a solid guy. He is the Sergeant at North CID. His Lt. retired months ago and was not replaced. He has three detectives working for him, as all of his experience has either quit or retired. DeKalb works line level management and officers/detectives to death. My guess is the guy snapped.

Admin leave? Why should he have been placed on admin leave if the CEO, who is also being investigated for possible criminal wrong doing, wasn't placed on admin leave? Why shouldn't employees of the county get the same treatment as the CEO of the county? Isn't our slogan still 'leadership from the top?',,,,,, smdh

No excuses what so ever! Just gets depressing watching the garbage continue to come out of this department. Definite reflection of management and the atmosphere that exists in this county and department. Type in DeKalb in the search engine and the first page is of officer arrest, indictments, misconduct, etc. If you ask me the entire upper management needs to be relieved of duty and replaced. This whole dept. needs a major shakeup. Damn it just takes another minute, we must realize that the laws apply to us also and that every action these days will in some shape or form be recorded. Get a grip on this place and start by enforcing the rules of the job at work and then when discipline returns so will pride.

The guy gave 25 years of good police service to the citizens of Dekalb, for a department that has its officers stressed out, under manned, under paid and over worked. Biumi was a solid guy who worked hard his whole career..period! Too bad he has to leave the department like this. But don't kid yourself people;he ain't the only stressed out cop there. There are dozens of them working right now. He is but a symptom of long broken department.......

Anonymous said...

this is just sad. what was he thinking? And by the way. who is the South Precinct Officer on youtube- "proof of incomplete arrest" .And why did he get fired? the more dkpd changes the more it stays the same.

Hey.... at least it happened after the new dress code was implemented. He's well dressed in the video.

Remember, First impressions set the stage for everything else that follows.

Stress!
Did you see the guy who was victim? He talked slow and voice was nerve wrecking. I probably would have snapped too.
Just retire and become a consultant and talk to Police Officers about stress.

I've known Biumi for over 20 years he is a stand up guy. Remember there are two sides to every story

Great use of a take home! You thought riding around doing part time jobs with a take home was a joke, at least they aren't assualting anyone. Or just don't get caught.

ANON 11:49 You never heard of him? Then your not much of a detective.
He been around longer than your uniform and detective badge put together.
You obviously have no clue just like the cases your assigned.

ANON 10: 57 we take our crap anywhere and you will like it. If you don't , Ill make you like it.

If you could see the posts that the kids put on Youtube, you'd understand why he did it.

Might not condone it, but the idiots had been in the drive through for a long, long time screwing around. As in one of them is in the back of the truck pretending to row the truckt through the drive through while sitting in a Kayak...
The posts that follow are great too. The ringleaders prose starts with "Imma be on tv"...
Yeah, like that.

Is Durham getting moved out of Special Ops? Why? What did she do?

Any cop here who thinks "a stand up guy" is one who pulls a weapon on someone without fearing for lose of life, is EXACTLY why we (the public) do not trust you. Bullies with guns. If ANYONE else did that no cop would be saying "he is a stand up guy" and "there are two sides to every story". You would be saying "the perp needed to be brought in to protect the public".

Anonymous said...

Kevin K, I think I know who you are....I am sorry but I really don't care what Biumi's side of the story is. I do know him and think he is a nice guy, but NO ONE is justified in putting a gun to a teenager's head---unless said teen is pointing a gun/knife/weapon at someone else or at you. Scott could have driven away and gone to another fast food restaurant. We all know that these people are allowed to call us everything INCLUDING a Child of God, which they frequently do, and we are virtually powerless under the 1st amendment (unless you can humm up some "public overhearing their loud, boisterous and offensive language") to legally do anything. We all make choices, and he made a very bad one. I have lost a lot of respect for him, I really do not see him as much different than the Dekalb thugs who pull their guns and point them at people for no reason other than intimidation. Sad.

Anonymous said...

Hey you can beat a good man when he's down but he is one of the best detectives I have ever worker with. He;s just another victim of the Dekalb Goverment. Over worked, under paid. Yep he over reacted can't condone it but lets look at yje stree he he and the rest of the PD / FD have been put under by the criminal BOC , mush mouth Dale Holmel and that POS Wiz Miller.

Anonymous said...

Anon 615pm,

First you say you don't care what Biumi's side is, then you go on to give one example of where Biumi would have been jusitified in pulling his gun. Which is it? I'm not taking Biumi's side, but the video only starts 2 seconds before Biumi pulls his gun. If you don't care what happened before that, then you're a dumbass. It may or may not exonerate Biumi. Whatever the case may be, it is relevant and you should care what the video shows before Biumi pulled his gun. I sure hope you're not a detective!

Anonymous said...

I like the guy but, you'll have a hard time explaining or even remotely justifying that. Personally, I think he probably must have a lot going on and just snapped. As professionals, we are not allowed to snap... just like when the fight is over and the cuffs are on... we are expected to act appropriately. If he's under that much stress, he should have taken time off.....talked to the chaplain or his minister.... or..... taken advantage if EAP.

re:APRIL 19, 3:26...The public doesn't trust us ? Let's see, there are more perp's in the priesthood, govt institutions, care-givers, donation services, educators, welfare, churches, boy scouts, sports, child care, elder abuse, food stamps, medical profession, health care, I COULD GO ON,AND ON, AND ON, BUT YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY ANOTHER IGNORANT, UNINFORMED, CITIZEN. You are the first one to call us, and the first one to complain if we take to long to handle "YOUR PROBLEM"! We definitely don't trust you, because you are where most of the crime comes from.("not my child, I didn't mean to do it, you are only doing this because I am blah, blah, blah"). Nobody cares what you think. Handle it like you do everything else, whining and protesting on the local news stations . We will continue to always be there for you , whether you trust us or not . No telling how many times a "Scott Biumi" has helped you out, when you really needed him ! No one here is defending his actions, we are just trying to understand what happened to such a fine officer. Besides, if you do anything wrong, you will only continue to get "infinite probation"! Maybe he finally just had enough of making all the personal sacrifices for ungratefull, sorry s.o.b.'s like you !!

Mad respect for you warhorse. Very good post. Everyone has a breaking point, but the rest of us can usually deal with it without the whole world seeing it. It sickens me to see how judgmental and ignorant people seem to be getting. This officer is obviously having an unusually rough time, and we all should be supporting him, not tearing him up. May God Bless you all and keep you safe.

From one old warhorse to another...
AMEN!!!!! Scott apparently has something stressful going on in his life to do something like this. I have never known him to act this way, too easygoing... Whatever it is, though, one thing is for sure... There will be no mercy from the public, the court, the prosecutor, or even his brothers and sisters in arms here! Too bad for Scott. Personally, I wish him the best!!!

"Sgt. Scott Biumi-- Ret. Det. Brian Fitzpatrick." Don't think this county will do anymore for you, than they did for them. You have to take care and watch out for yourself and each other. You are always bombarded with so much stress, that you don't notice the subtle changes that sneak up on you in this job. Then it can get real bad/real quick, and you become a dept pariah real fast. Police refuse to talk to psychs/rehab , and try to hide everything until it is out of control.(like the saying "you are always the last one to know").If you notice odd changes in another officer, or if someone notices it in you, do something ,or at least say something to a confidant. This damn stress and depression is not something to mess with. Somebody, somewhere in this job better wake up, AND DO SOMETHING QUICK, AND I DO MEAN QUICK !! This job will chew you up and spit you out if you aren't careful.

Hey I like Sgt. Biumi, so in his honor I went to the Bruger King on Memorial Drive and whipped a customers ass at the drive in window. Then got in my pov and went home and got high. This joints for you Scott

old warhorse said...

Sgt Scott Biumi retired Wed 4/24. I know this officer. He knows he was wrong---"BIG TIME WRONG", and he resigned ,on his own, and will suffer the consequences. HE WHO HAS NOT SINNED,CAST THE FIRST STONE. All you "stone-throwers", better be super careful. Everybody is watching, just waiting for you to screw up. Then the dog/pile on, will be on you. We don't need the public to persecute us , we have enough "JUDAS'" among ourselves. Leave the guy be! His career is over and the rest of his and his family life is uncertain at best. The public is estatic , and these poor teenagers will have plenty of money to buy more red bull, dip, and 4 wheel drive parts. Guess nobody ever wondered why and how this happened, or--"Wonder if I'll ever completely lose it like that someday, because of a bunch of insignificant, red-neck assholes in a pick-up truck? His real problems are coming ,and they are coming with a vengeance ! I,m definitely not proud of what he did. I'm just ashamed of how he has been "collectively" treated ,by us.

Biumi is a nice guy, and did man up to his mistake. However, here's a main issued brought up by some. Other officers, who have been terminated or resigned in lieu of termination, were banned from coming back to their precinct. Emails were sent out saying they weren't allowed back inside the precinct. Biumi, however, didn't receive such treatment. In fact, he had free access to the entire North precinct Wednesday at Smitty's retirement party. Not only is he under investigation for a crime, but he is possibly mentally unstable. Its these double standards that divide us.

Anonymous said...

As JT Irwin would say in In Service...............I am a product of my environment............remember that???? Geez Louise......pathetically....most of you don't know WTF I am talking about........

Biumi.....overall ....a good cop.....what he did......inexcusable........

The worst this department has dolled out? Certainly not................

playing with a full deck at the time of this incident ? definatly not..... but certainly .......a product of his environment.......

6 years without a raise...........working in that ----hole of a place..........., discriminated against time and time again (Thanks Auburn!!!!!!!!!).....

Scott.............carry on..............i wish you the best of luck!

You too will discover......its not that hard to replace that pay check....

And too all the naysayers...............you like taking home $500 a week? Morons.....................

Now go out and write tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I agree with anon 9:57. I don't think BIumi or any other officers should be banned from coming to the precinct to see their FRIENDS. However, there does appear to be a double standard. We've had officers terminated for NON criminal offenses and they were then treated as though they were a threat to us, and banned from the precinct. Hell, even Bolten was banned!

Anonymous said...

You missed the point of the post. I, for one, was happy to see Scott. I also did wonder why he was allowed to attend. So according to you, if Scott didn't resign he should at some point be allowed to return to work without any mandated professional counseling, since he only got 'pissed off ' when he stuck his gun in that guy 's face?

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:29
It is obvious that you are friends with Biumi. You have the same mind set as our command staff - the rules don't apply to my friends.

Anonymous said...

Are FREAKING RETARDED or what? He is a violent 22. He stuck his GUN in somebody's FACE!!! HE NEEDS HELP. HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED WITHIN 100 FEET OF A PRECINCT. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE DON'T TRUST US! GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!!! HE COMMITTED A VIOLENT CRIME...........WE ALL HAVE BEEN PUSHED BEFORE. BUT HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE PUT A GUN TO SOMEBODY'S HEAD. NOT CASTING ANY STONES, BUT RIGHT IS RIGHT AND HE WAS DEAD WRONG. WE OWE EACH OTHER MORE COVERAGE.

Anonymous said...

Like the topic of blog reads, 'Will we ever learn?' Will we ever learn that there are two sets of rules around here? If you are liked then you operate under a different set of rules than the rest. When Buck West got terminated for not writing a report, you would have thought the guy was on a 'terrorists watch list' with all the emails that came out saying he was not allowed on county property.

Anonymous said...

Please , let the email thing go .They are gone,we are still here. We all have a lot bigger fish to fry that this.
