Up is down and down is up. And Chief Cedric will continue to guard the corrupt Burrell Ellis.

We give up.

Today is Lee May's first day. The headline of this post is terrible. He tried to open a movie theatre in Lithonia and it failed. That and two floods of his house that he couldn't control and no flood insurance whiped him out.

Give the man a break.

He may or may not fuck up as CEO. If he fucks up, give him hell. But at least give him a chance.

I lived in DeKalb County (moved away 5 years ago), went to school in DeKalb County (Avondale - now gone), worked for the citizens of DeKalb County (Police dept. - retired in 2008) - I am dumbfounded at how far this county has sunk. It's become the Newark of the South (as one Northern friend likes to say). My question to the citizens in DeKalb - is this what you want - a corrupt, crime-ridden, barely functional county system? There are too many hard-working employees still there that function (or, try to) in spite of the clownish politicians that the people INSIST upon electing to office - not enough room on this blog to go into the School Board fiasco. God speed to those that still work there.

Day one of Lee May as CEO......are units still sitting on Ellis' house?

Gotta agree with first post. Burrell is at least suspended. What did you expect? A call from Gov Deal asking for a blogmaster to run the sh^tshow? As much as I agree with a lot of Ken C's posts the Gov wasn't gonna call him. Hell, maybe he did and Ken was smart enough to turn the job down. This is the process we have to work within.

Just think it coulda been Barnes-Sutton?

What's next for Dekalb?

Ellis tried to dig a hole for Vernon and he fell in. Now Ellis is going to jail where he will have 24 hr security.

Ellis has destroyed so many people lives now how does it feel? POS

Has anyone seen State of the Enemy with Will Smith? Ellis is Jon Voight

Thanks Governor Deal! I knew we put the right man in office.

Let's send an email to GMA (Good Morning America) so they can run this story.

What did you think was going to happen? As others have said before, replace one and 5 more take their place. If you choose to stay in that pathetic environment and work for the corrupt and grossly incompetent you've no one to blame but yourself. Though I suppose if you are still there you are not marketable anywhere else.

Let's give him a chance then after that we can pass judgement. Also Chief now might be a good time to start doing the right thing. You rode that last ship down to the bottom!

Most of us here are not big Lee May fans.
On the major issues affecting the county, loss of revenue and the need to reorganize the county around core services, abolish the CEO's office as ineffective and wasteful. I support acting CEO May on those initiatives.
There is much I don't agree with May on, the most important ones published recently I agree with.
The AJC needs to quit hiding the CEO's offices stories behind a pay-wall. I get more information from the DeKalb Champion and the Champion is not known for investigative reporting.
Best of luck,
KenC

TOTALLY agree with the first post. What happened to him could happen to ANYONE. At least from what I have seen, he is good guy, and doesn't deserve to be blasted like. You wouldn't be happy with anyone, so now you're part of the problem.

And now Thomas Brown is reportedly running for Congress? Wow. Just wow.......my prayers are with all of you.....

Guess we all will have to give give Lee a chance since he's "it" for the time being. That is all well and good but I am reluctant to believe this will be for the betterment of our county with him at the helm when, if you look clcosely at his campaign financial disclosure records you will see the money contributed to his "campaign fund" by some of the worst nite clubs in the county. Just to name a few, El Noa Noa and LaRumba. His list of law firms, developers, big corporations and companies doing business with the county is second only to Boyer's whose is second only to Ellis'. Oh, yea, it's just a little contribution..no favors expected, no promises or guarantees made. Hopefully, he means what he said about raises for employees and that means all of you officers. No one is more deserving in this county! There's an old saying "It comes in three's". Jones, Ellis and..hopefully, he won't be the 3rd. Stay safe...

The New York City pension fund is on fire...that means it's investments are doing tremendous.

I hope that the DeKalb Co pension fund is on fire too..it should be with the stock market that is on fire. KEEP THESE IDIOTS AWAY FROM OUR PENSION !

@ 7/17 1:46pm, We agree with you.

LEE NEED TO DISTANT HIMSELF FROM THE PREPS IN ZONING, BUSINESS LICENSES, AND PERMITTING.

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF WRONGDOING BY THESE DEPARTMENT, THEY STILL CONTINUE TO DO BUSINESS.

WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED.

I see the County website has been updated to remove Erkle and add Lee May as Interim.

Erkle, can you call on your buddies from North Dekalb to help you out? NO

Erkle, how does it feel to be the most watched and talked about person in Dekalb County? Now you know how it feels, when you tried to Bolton and VJ under the bus.

It's called a "Taste of your own medicine."

Folks this county is simply a microcosm of where this once great country is headed and we've no one to blame but ourselves for allowing it to happen. In this "if it feels good do it" society there is no longer any moral compass guiding our leaders, much less our youth. This once great county, and soon to be country, are no more. Protect yourself and loved ones as best you can now as it's too late to stand up and fight. If only the good had refused to coward to the corrupt years ago.

Yes, does this shit ever end? I see Annette has gotten another one of her snitches up into the chiefs office. Chief A please do your homework because TRUST you have several leaks in your office.

If Ellis had even made an ATTEMPT to curb the obvious corruption in permits, watershed, etc., he might have been taken seriously as a competent CEO but he just kept on with the same old same old until even our President refused to associate with him when in town. Lets hope future CEOs don't make the same mistakes. This is the information age, people know and share your misdeeds.

To be fair to the DeKalb Citizens, the Gov. Deal should remove all of the commissioners. He should do them just like he did the Board of Education. Lee May is the same as Ellis. He is the lesser of the two evils. They sat together on the board.

Regarding the pension, if we follow suit with Detroit you will receive 10 cents on the dollar as they are being forced to receive. After all, those receiving entitlements can't pay themselves so why not fund it on the backs of police and firefighters? Will you ever wake up and stop this madness...?

You guys still working there better insist on a 100% fully funded pension. If not you might as well flush your monthly contributions down the toilet as you'll never see it again once the inevitable bankruptcy is filed.
