Why go back to a 9mm when the 40 is proven to be so much better. Correct me if I am wrong here but aren't you supposed to adapt the officer to all the requirements of the job...including the most effective weapon used, not adapt the weapon the officer??? Doesn't this bring all the other officers ability to defend themselves down to a lower level because some officers cant operate a larger weapon? Isn't this regression? Reverse evolution? Am I missing something here?

The reliable Beretta 92Fs functioned flawlessly with the +p+ rounds issued years ago but once again, the idiotic command staff knew better than what the knowledgeable staff were telling them. Same old song & dance around here...

Do your homework. Theres only 1mm difference in the round. They shot 3k rounds thru the glock without any problems. The damage difference was almost unnoticeable. If you want the s & w .40....buy it lol. Amazing what people whine about but then again some on here dont even work for dkpd they work for the cities inside without their own blog.

The plan is to step it down to a .380, .22, then airsoft. At least it's a Glock for the time being.

Just before I retired form dkpd the county was going to the 40 caliber. I tested the Smith and Wesson, Springfield, H AND K, Glock. The Smith and Wesson was by far the better pistol and the most popular among the officers that tested the weapons, Glock came in last. Now they are going backward with a 9mm, something really stinks here.

The S&W M&P was the absolute worst piece of junk I ever fired. I NEVER had one malfunction with the Beretta in 20 yrs yet a minimum of 2 failures per mag with the S&W which is why every agency (Conyers PD recently) is dumping them. LAPD put out an order they couldn't even be used as backup they were so unreliable. Sadly, all of this could have been researched prior to purchasing them.

To 1:06 PM....

No way..........I am vested here and your right!!!!!!!!!! I took an oath and raised my hand and in turn the county spelled out how they would pay me and provide benefits. Thus I ve invested a good part of my working adult capital into this place.

Problem is...............the county changed and also changed its mind!!!!!!! and is not doing what it said it would do when I first came on board. No raises in...... going on 9 years, increased health insurance and pension benefits, discrimination, revolving door leadership, mismanagement, AND IAM SUPPOSED TO CONTINUE ALL RIGHT ALONG.??????

No way. It dont work that way. And let me tell you......I am the only one!!!!!!! The whole department is doing this!!!!!!!!

Waiting on my time then I be gone!!!!!!!!! Until then,,,,,,I sit and answer my calls. Nothing else! I dont live down here. You do. Now deal with the crime and corruption. Great place! Isn't it???????

You know at one time GLOCK was going to GIVE the police dept brand new Glock 40 cal handguns with trijicon night sights.... at no cost whatsoever. I actually test fired those back then and I know fine they were. What logic caused the county not to take that offer eludes me to this day. Rumor has it that the 40 cal was considered a "racist round" by the idiots in charge back then. The 92F was an outstanding handgun, and the design is still sound, but the 115 grain silvertips we were forced to use were completely inadequate. The Beretta 92F's were worn out by decades of use and we way past due to be replaced. The S&W 40 was a BAD choice to replace them with. I have no doubt that if the county had taken the offer from Glock those guns would still be in service and would have saved a LOT of taxpayer dollars.
BUT we cant do things like that because its NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT.
So the lesson here is.....if you elect FOOLS and CRIMINALS to make those kinds of decisions it costs a LOT more money and pain.
DeKalb residents....enjoy the war zone your home has become. You elected the idiots we warned you not too.
