Pension News

News from the pension board has be awfully quit since March of 2010.

In a nut shell. Employee contributions to the pension will be going up in 2011. The debate on the pension board is whether the county contributions will increase also.

Commissioner Rader and C.E.O. Ellis are in favor of only raising employee contributions. The pension board brings up the point the county is saving money with the early retirements and should increase it's contributions.

There is one thing we can count on for sure. If Ellis and his band of merry-men get a chance to stick it to the employees, they will take advantage of it.

Never in the history of DeKalb County has there been a body of commissioners who are so anti-employee.

Click here for March 2010 Pension Minutes. The pension board has not updated pension minutes since March. Transparency?

Am I the only one that has a problem with Ed "Stall" Wall being the Chair of the Pension Board? Major friend of Vermin Jones and sex offender holding our future in his ugh, soiled hands. .

If they think there's a ticket slow down now, they better consider how motivated officers will be after the pension contributions increase for the officers while the county holds pat.

That being said, they might want to consider how morale will burrow itself into and below ground level when officers see an increase in the pension contribution, an increase in the cost of health benefits and increase in the cost of living......WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A MERIT OR COST OF LIVING INCREASE..... OR HOW PISSED OFF THAT F'ING 1% RAISE WILL MAKE THE OFFICERS!

Mandatory 23 years and out for all first responders. We will pay a little extra in our pension.

Go figure why "Stall" is a friend of Vermin's. Ever heard the saying "birds of a feather flock together"? Betcha Vermin's group of past bodyguards could tell some tales about his "social clubbing" in midtown....but chances are nobody would be willing to admit it. Oh well, that's yesterday's news now. Gone but not forgotten.

Or at least allow the option for retirement after vestment regardless of age based on your years of service. If I decide I can live on half salary at 40 then so be it. 30 years in that dump is asking A Lot.

It's funny that we have to beg the State of Georgia to allow us a vehicle (union) to represent us against our employer, the county. It is not in their best interest to allow us to defend ourselves against them is it?
Kind of like the plantation owners not allowing the slaves to educate themselves so the owners would be able to keep them in their place is how I see it with reguard to the PD and the County. A smart ass white boy .:-)

We had better stop worrying about the 12 hour shifts and start worrying about our pension. The early retirement was a farce. There was no plan in place what so ever. Robbie Robinson is a joke, he missed more than 1/2 of all of the meetings last year and should have been removed. Not only that, he spent much of his time in Chicago with his girlfriend, then had the nerve to ask the pension board to purchase his plane ticket so he could fly into town for the meetings.
Currently the active employees of Dekalb County have no representation on the pension board. NONE, all sitting members are either gay (only one) or retired WE DO NOT HAVE A VOICE. We are allowing the same rats that took the early retirement for themselves to look after our best interest? Its amazing what we as cops get upset about. Cry over a 12 hour shift but turn a blind eye to rats in the woodshed. It has also been rumored all sitting members want to change the current structure to allow them to stay on. We need to clean house over there. And just why did the pension board (The ED and Robbie Show) vote to hire outside counsel when the County Attorneys Office provided legal counsel. Another waste of our pension money. I think we should demand a forensic audit ASAP and the removal of ED and Robbie.

We should demand that we have a say in who represents us on the pension board. We should demand that they do more that just send out a ballot with a couple of names on it and have the perspective member write a bio and a platform and give us some info on who we are voting for. Fly the retiree pension rep into Atlanta from Chigago...that complete bull shit. He should be removed now and ordered to reimburse the pension for his field trips. Hey FOP...jump on this one !

The pension minutes are from damn March? Dam , now thats keeping the worker well informed ain't it...bunch of damn slackers to say the least.
Paying for a pension rep who lives in Chicago, to fly to Dekalb to attend meetings...Only the G.D. government could pull that one off...wonder what other sneeky crap they are doing?

I saw this asked before and I'd like to know the answer too. Was Vernon Jones allowed to buy back time in OUR pension for his time served in the Georgia General Assembly? What was the justification for approval if it is true?
