A man was shot and killed overnight by police officers responding to a domestic dispute at a DeKalb County apartment complex.
The incident happened late Thursday night at the Bryton Hill apartments on Skyland Drive near Clairmont Road, Channel 2 Action News reported.
DeKalb police have not commented on what led to the shooting, but witnesses told Channel 2 that the officers responded to an argument between a woman and a man who was armed.
When the man refused commands to drop his gun, officers opened fire, witnesses said.
The man was shot at least three times and later died, Channel 2 reported. His name has not been released.
The incident was the third fatal officer-involved shooting in metro Atlanta in three days.

Glad to hear the officer(s) went home at 10-42..... six years ago today, Step did not. RIP.
Ladies and gentleman, please be careful out there.
Thank God all the Officers are OK !!
Are we just going to put a sign up in Atlanta that's like those accident prevention signs...."Atlanta! 3 days without an officer involved shooting!" This crap is out of control. They say violent crime is falling, but I really don't see that on the streets around here. Be careful out there guys. Watch your back and tour front. It doesn't just feel more dangerous these days, it is.
Such commonplace now it's barely news worthy. Someone alert Rev Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson so this travesty of justice can be addressed, in between their extramarital affairs of course.
He's still alive and draining our taxes as of 1530 hours!
FYI, The person is not dead.
Drop the charges, cut him loose, and save the tax payers the money. When he's about to be released, indict him and pick him up at Grady's exit.
Dead or not, justice was swift for the asshole who was threatening one of our own. Fine job I'd say.
Higzilla you need to get it together!
I heard there is changes in Major Felony. WTF
I heard the same rumor. Please say its not true that they are going to let her back up here? She was full of ego as a sergeant I can only imagine now. She has never been a real detective.
It's not looking good folks. With all this mess happening in the DeKalb Police Deparment, the citizens of the proposed city of Brookhaven better choose to incorporate while they have the chance. Soon there won't be a DeKalb force left to handle crime in the county.
Its to late, we cant handle the crime in the county now, with what we have. Command has given up, we are letting the violent crime spin out of control. As long as we have enough offices to write 150 citations a day to keep the revenue coming in so we can fatten up our BOC nothing else matters. Each watch could arrest 50 perps a day with no citations. Trust me, THAT WOULD NOT BE GOOD ENOUGH. This county would much rather arrest noone and write those tickets. Does anyone really think im wrong? Yes we have one precinct commander who has good ideas and good values in place. Its unfortunate he still has 5 bosses that will demote him if he dont play nice with others.
Brookhaven Yes is posting here in desperation.
Get her out of East PLEASE!!!!
Thats fine you can get her out of East but we dont want her up here. Tensions are high enough with all the hours we work. We do not need her up here trying to create new ideas. What does it say to the bosses if as soon as she gets up here transfers start flowing?
I'm thinking of 2 females this could be referring to....
What"s up with East???
This "Bad Guy" was a relative of mine. He was having an argument with his girlfriend. I get that he did not listen, and he was shot by no fault of the officer. But comments like "He's still alive and draining our taxes as of 1530 hours!" are uncalled for and it shows what jerks you really are. I'm on several message boards and facebook. I'm going to expose this site so EVERYONE can see what aholes the Dekalb police officers are.......
I doubt my post will get published, but I will still advertise the site......what jerks
The truth hurts sometimes. Is he, or is he not getting taken care of on our tax dollars? I think he's the jerk here, not us.
By the way, the "bad guy" was a tax paying citizen with a job and insurance, so no he wasn't draining your tax dollars
Also, the "bad guy" was a marine who made prosthetics for children for a living. So, actually he was a good guy who had a really bad night. Maybe you should learn a little about someone before you start talking about them.
Sorry, but I've never had to have the police called on me nor have I threatened an officer. No remorse, he got what he deserved.
So, you are not a bad guy when you draw your weapon at a cop if you make prosthetics for children? Great logic, hippie loser! Anon 10:38 said it best about "having a bad night."
he was my friend, I don't believe the story. He would have never shot any cop, it's not in his nature to kill. He even said he didn't reenlist in the marines because he couldn't kill anyone; he just wanted a normal life with his kids.
He was emotional and probably drinking that night, he did something stupid. He was not a bad guy, he would do anything to help anyone.
Tell it to the jury....and their kids. Bet he was a good guy who just fell in with the wrong crowd too.
