2020 was a rough year for Dekalb Police, Homicides, Rapes, Burglaries, Stolen vehicles, and traffic fatalities at an all-time high. While citations and pro-active policing at an all-time low. The department is having trouble keeping officers due to the overwhelming call volume, the constant special details, and last-minute canceling of off days and vacation days.
The low pay and high cost
of health benefits. Officers are leaving by the dozens for better jobs and
better benefits.
Chief Ramos
does not help matters by going to roll calls and telling beat officers they are
just a bunch of ungrateful complainers.

She just had a meeting with officers from each division and showed her true colors. She's just here for a paycheck not to hear what officers concerns are. She blew off everything we brought up. She wants to look like she's listening to us but doesn't actually listen, she just attacks us when she hears something she don't like.
The bottom line is, even if someone speaks truth to Chief Ramos, she does not hear it.
Why don’t every officer quit at the same time. That will surely get their attention.
I hear Sgt Craven is running off all the South Detectives. He killed the moral in morning watch at NC and South. It’s always supervisors like him that ruin a good thing.
Just remember these people are appointed by elected officials not by qualifications for the position. It will be someone new in a few years with a new direction to solve all the crimes and internal problems of the police department.
Damn. I thought it was bad when I retired 17 years ago. I hoped it would a better working environment,at least in the building. This is nothing new in this line of work. The success of any leader evolves from the trust and confidence of their personnel. It surfaces quickly in times of stress and controversy. This is common in large departments where these so called ‘managers’,are at will employees. Talk is cheap when it involves leadership. I worked a security detail at the commissioners building, and the chief spent more time in Jones office than at 34. I’ve witnessed many a good employee thrown under the proverbial bus, so some slack ass could keep their little corner of their kingdom. In the ‘yes sir, three bags full’ world the rank and file always take it in the shorts. Sad, but true. Seen it. Lived it. I generally don’t give advice, but listen up. Don’t fall for the roll call/group session ‘what’s the problem, tell me what you think’,booby trap. I sat in a squad meeting with the commander who wanted the straight skinny on what the problem was. Well, all the officers who drank that koolaide were summarily transferred. They were set up by the limpd:”k sergeants, and closet racist lieutenant. Listen up troops. Be to smart to fall for that. Watch what you say, watch where you say it,watch who you say it to. Like the song says, ‘when the right word goes in the wrong ear’. My last 5 years was totally miserable. Backbiters, back stabbers, ass kissers, tattletails, apple polishers. Worst group of officers. Absolute worst supervisors
in the entire department. Pick your fight on your terms,on the battlefield of your choice. I found myself surrounded by strangers, I thought were my friends. Follow the old sage advice of the old Indian saying, ‘like many, trust few. Paddle your own canoe. Take care of each other. Be careful. Regardless, it is still us against them. You are still the best officers around. Period
Now she’s screwing with our J2 money what next? Moral at an all time low. She is definitely trying to run veterans off with this crap
Many of the ejs arent going to pay additional rates just so the management company can take their cut. This chief is a joke
