Dekalb County Police have 410 sworn post-certified officers in the department +/- 10.  This is a scary fact and a dangerous fact. It is dangerous for the citizens of Dekalb County and the officers of Dekalb Police. Just three years ago Dekalb Police had over 650 sworn officers in the department, so what has changed and what has happened to create this sudden loss of manpower, and how can this problem be solved.

As a citizen of Dekalb county I would be asking the CEO and Commissioners what is going on and why do we not have adequate officers to help with the rising crime in the county.

The PIO for Dekalb just resigned, she has had enough from the Chief and resigned.

we have lost 35 officers since January and more are leaving each week.

the problem is that Chief Mirtha "Cardi B" Ramos is an idiot. She has destroyed morale and told officers to leave if they do not like how she runs the department.

Yes, Ramos is bad for the department but the real reason is Dekalb has the highest crime rate in the state and the largest call volume in the state, but we are one of the lowest-paid and we have the worst health benefits packages and worst retirements in the state.

let this sink in, you have a 30-year veteran MPO who just retired and he never reached top out pay for his rank after 30 years.... this is a real problem you are not taking care of your officers at any rank, especially your MPO and sgts.

why would anyone come work for a department that does not offer decent benefits and no raises at any rank, 30 years and you cant reach top out pay no thank you, I will go somewhere else.

I remember when I worked at Dekalb County back in 2005. I remember when we had teams and everyone worked Wednesday(play day for one team and the other answered calls them reverse next week) That's when Dekalb had nearly 800 sworn officers and five precincts. I feel sorry for those still there. I recommend if your not vested under the old pension to find a new location. I still reach out to a few buddies to get them in feds, if can. The point take care of one another because the command staff will only take care of themselves. Be safe out there.

Can we all just agree to blame that turd Albriton??

Just view that dept as a training facility for the time you're there. No one with any character, desire to better themselves, or need to take care of a family would stay under current conditions. Sadly the citizens ultimately pay the price with pitiful service and lawsuits that stem from incompetent leadership and minimal experienced personnel responding to crisis throughout the county.

Media has been told to stop covering this or they’d be left out of case coverage info, etc. The usual tit-for-tat corruption Dekalb is known for.

Albritton is just one of many bad problems this department has, he is spineless just like the entire command staff.

I just found out about this blog, I have worked here for 18 months so yes I am a rookie. let me see if I understand this correctly, we have officers and supervisors who have been with the department for 25 and 30 years that have never reached the top out pay for the rank they are at. if this is true I need to find a new career.

a lot of people would be very happy if Albritton left but that does not fix the poor pay issue.

Albriton is worthless. Ivanov and Padrick need to head to the Marshalls office with Rutland. Live out the rest of your career in shame as they should.

Ivanoff can't leave until Ramos gives him his balls back, same with padrick when you become command staff you have to give her your manhood.

i use to admire Ivonoff he was like a G.I. Joe-issued police officer squared away and a real cop, but what a shell of a man he has become, it is a real shame to see someone like that turn into such a coward and an ass kisser. He did the exact same as his mentor Yarbrough I'm not sure which one was worse

If you are going to criticize someone at least spell their name correctly. Chief Ivanov came up through the ranks, nobody gave him anything. He wasn't an aid for a chief or a major. He's very intelligent and he's above his critic's level of thinking. Can I tell everyone a little secret? Nobody is here for you as an individual. Accomplish your own goals, achieve rank and you will protect your investment. People are here for their families and nobody is going to fall on a grenade for you. Ivanov is nothing like Yarbrough.

Blue flu!

Look at Ivanov defending Ivanov. Hahaha what a joke. Almost as bad as Albriton defending himself on here. Y’all two should start a group of horrible supervisors that are in denial.

I will give you some credit, When Ivanov was a beat officer on north he was one hell of an officer. Even after he made Sgt. for a while he was still a good officer and supervisor. Then he jumped on the coat tail of Rancifer and Yarbrough and he forgot who he was and lost all of his morals and standards. He knew he could climb the ranks by stepping on people and doing whatever he had to. He and Yarbrough both were Rancifer little minions. Neither one of them will retire with any dignity or respect from the troops.

To the real workers in the DeKalb County Police Department, Thank you for your Service and Sacrifice. I have realized that this Organization and Politicians in DeKalb County just want too much from us. I hope people realize it's okay to think of your well being and your families well being. Over worked and under paid. Uniform Officers, Detectives, Sergeants and Lts. Held to a standard the Command Staff, Politicians and Criminals do not live by.

Damn. Do we actually have any decent supervisors at this department? Lololol.

Henry County Sheriff Supervisor here, I can't speak on what is going on in Dekalb County but
I would like to propose a trade, we will give you M.P. Yarbrough back for just a few good officers. We don't need him or his know it all ego here. don't rush your decision just think about it. We are just asking for some good decent officers with no attitude.

Ivanov is a lot like Yarbrough, he will tell you one thing and act like he has your back and when you are walking away he will put a knife squarely in your back. hr learned how to do this from Rancifer and Yarbrough. At least Ivanov does not act like a preacher and tells you he is a man of God and will pray for you as he is cutting your throat, in that way he is different from Yarbrough. Ivanov is where he is because Yarbrough selected him for that position.

I use to respect Ivonov but not anymore he is just a part of the evil empire

when is shearling leaving and taking officers with him?

look whoever you are that wants to be Durham's protector, she has stabbed officers in the back and snitched on officers her entire career, my god she had an officer run a name to get an address, and then she and her friends went to the address and beat a girl with a baseball bat....she received a slap on the yes the officers who work hard and actually come to work and do a good job they are tired of the favoritism shown to kiss ass officers and supervisors and its time they are held accountable for their actions. so if we are hard on your little girl get over it she deserves it.
