So Chief Ramos is meeting with precincts and the different divisions, she is asking what the concerns are and how can she help. It sounds great at first, but It’s basically a waste of time because every question or issue that is brought up she points the finger and blames the CEO, commissioners, and the Director of public safety. Even though she is the police chief she tells you everything is out of her control. So, after 2.5 years of being on the job, she can’t tell the citizens or the officers how she will fix the problems within the department or stop the crime rates from going higher.
So, the question must be asked, what exactly is she being paid to do. She has applied at 3 different agencies since she has been here and made public statements that she has done all she can do for Dekalb county.
Why

she was asked in one of these meetings about the new tahoes sitting around not being issued, she told us she has no control of the tahoes being issued out. Yet her and her boy toy Curtis Williams both received new tahoes as soon as they came in.
when asked why our swat team refused to help Gwinnett on a swat call she said the call came from above her that we would not assist the other counties, so either Lumpkin or the CEO refused to allow our swat team to assist Gwinnett County

The new Tahoes haven't been released because Mobile Communication is only able to outfit them at a rate of 1 per week. They won't issue any of the 2021 Tahoes till they're all complete. Let's do a little math here. There are roughly 80 2021 Tahoes, while there are only 52 weeks in a year...
Why hasn't DKPD sought help from the numerous police outfitters that already outfit large numbers of PD vehicles in small spans of time such as Dana Safety?
At this rate we won't see 2021 Tahoes till 2023. Meanwhile we have officer driving around nearly 10 year old Caprices that are falling apart.
A lot of people say having old equipment isn't causing people to leave. I'd say it's still a major factor in officers MPO and below making the decision to leave.
Ramos and the command staff use new vehicles as gifts for the special officers and detectives, they also use the old vehicles as a form of punishment or for those who do not bow down to her majesty.
so let me get this right, we are hiring a marketing company to help us entice people to come work for Dekalb Police, but we are not going to address the issues of the bad retirement, the bad pay, and the bad benefits. so we will waste money that could be used to improve pay and benefits to hire people that will leave when they realize this place is a shit hole.
This place/ establishment cannot rise from the ashes because of the lack of real leadership, bad politics, hate and the inability to make things right. Officers and Detectives are leaving at a vast rate. Little people with some rank think they are all that. No Crime Scene Units available only for Major Felony. Yet Major Felony will now turn down any death and send it to Property Crimes. Property Crimes gives up a quarter of their work load to work the street for nothing (stress), run V.I.N.'s for car lots. What happened to Auto Theft. It is so much fun to be treated like crap by this place. The workers should leave and let the Kiss A$$es figure it out.

And obviously because people have animosity to other units. Crime scene had only four techs a few months ago and they are currently training two new techs. They are overwhelmed with the significant increase in murders alone which is why they are focused on Major Felony cases. When has Major Felony turned down a Murder and put it on property crimes? Auto Theft has four detectives and those detectives get assigned about 100+ cases a week. Property crimes patrol day and VIN checks were Chief and uniform Assistant Chief decisions. Every unit is overwhelmed and overworked because of the manpower issue. That includes uniform, SOD, SWAT, NET teams. NET teams are having to work the road almost everyday, should they blame SWAT for not assisting them. Stop complaining about other units that are just as overwhelmed as property crimes and focus you blame where it belongs…Cardi B
Ramos is an idiot...and I mean that by the archaic definition of a person with low intelligence. I've personally witnessed her saying things like, "It's not my job to tell Assistant Chief So-and-So what to do..." I'm sorry, what? You are THE Chief of Police. It is 100% your job to tell your Assistant Chiefs what to do if they're not doing their jobs. Jiminey Cricket! How did she even get this job? Not to mention the empty promises she sends out that never materialize. That 6% raise - yeah the joke of a raise that doesn't even cover the recent 8.5% raise in cost of living due to inflation - where'd it go? How about the $1000 bonus that Kemp offered to all Georgia LEOs back in August of last year? Did she apply for that for DKPD? If so, it's time to pull a Rod Tidwell and SHOW ME THE MONEY! There are simple solutions that would decrease attrition and increase morale...but she can't even get that right. If she can't get her act together then our ghost of a CEO needs to show her the door and put someone with some moral fortitude at the head of the snake. Someone who is just crazy enough to fight for ALL of us like (Lord help me) Lt. Heimer.
The CEO is giving a state of the county address next week I am looking forward to the lies he will tell and the empty promises he will give us. He does not care because he can't run for office again and no one will hold him accountable.
so some of the news stations ran an article about the CEO asking for 14 million dollar approval in the budget to help with public safety hiring and retention. They want to increase the starting pay and give a 6.25% raise.
I am amazed at the sheer ignorance and stupidity of the CEO and the people who make decisions for this county and for public safety.
the 6025% public safety is already getting it is the covid pay that has been paid since the onset of the covid pandemic. raising the starting pay is just a very small problem for hiring and retention of officers. the 3000 dollars incentive bonus to keep officers here will be eaten up by taxes they have to pay on it.
the truth is public safety employees are leaving because Dekalb has one of the worst retirements in the state of Georgia, they also have the worst benefits package in the state. Dekalb pays more for insurance and benefits than any other department in the state.
the officers realize after they are hired and have been here two years they never receive any other raises they see how veteran officers who have been here 10, 15, and 20 years are making the same pay as a 5-year officer. we have 30-year officers retiring that are not topped out at the patrolman pay.
this along with the crap the officers have to put up with from the command staff is not worth them staying here. it is not rocket science just treat your people better and pay them what they deserve.

Surrounding agencies (CPD), etc., have Lts, and Capts.responding to work wrecks given the officer shortage. It's past time ALL certified officers begin handling our primary objective (public safety) in real time.
the uniform is short-handed and they are adding officers to the K-9 unit like they ever do anything...
it's true the k-9 unit does not do very much or help uniform very much but they are not adding, they are replacing an officer that is getting fired.
now we know why k-9 never respond to perps on the ground, they are at home in bed while on the clock...

The most disheartening part in all of this is the fact that officers are getting on this blog and speaking on things they know nothing about. All units are short staffed. We are all overworked. Unless you’re on SWAT, you don’t know and won’t know everything they do. Same for K9. Same for all CID units, uniform, etc. Everyone is working and doing what they can with what they have. I’m sure if you are so worried about what the other units are doing you could ride along and see just how much work they do. Speaking down on supervisors who are GOOD supervisors (SK) is ridiculous and only brings down morale even more. All you hear around the department is the negative… and Friendly reminder, a huge part of your happiness is determined by your own thoughts and actions. The department needs a lot of changes, but let’s stop going after each other and contributing to the frustration we are all feeling .

Didn't Durham run somebody's name for a friend, an ncic violation, then that friend used the information from Durham to go beat that person into a coma? She was on CEO detail and protected at the time I think.

look whoever you are that wants to be Durham's protector, she has stabbed officers in the back and snitched on officers her entire career, my god she had an officer run a name to get an address, and then she and her friends went to the address and beat a girl with a baseball bat....she received a slap on the yes the officers who work hard and actually come to work and do a good job they are tired of the favoritism shown to kiss ass officers and supervisors and its time they are held accountable for their actions. so if we are hard on your little girl get over it she deserves it.

I don't know why everyone is surprised over this, Ramos surrounds herself with officers who should have been fired on several different occasions. Curtis Williams chief of staff...we all know his history and how dirty he is. Rutland, Golden, list goes on and on

In a nutshell- she was remotely clocking in as if she was on-duty in the county working when she was at her residence and then turning in work productivity as if she was working. This was confirmed using the rocket information and then comparing it to her physical location. BUSTED I would say. How stupid can you be?
I wonder what they are going to do about the overtime sheets Durham handed in while she was at home relaxing.
nothing will happen to Durham she will probably be our next CEO or a commissioner, she has shown them she knows how to steal from the county so that is the first qualification.
Curtis Williams will be CEO with Rutland and Durham his best two commissioners all three have committed crimes that are fireable and chargeable but they just get a free pass.
