Anonymous Responds To "Point Being Missed"

According to Kathie Gannon..,

"In the seven weeks that your Board of Commissioners held weekly budget review meetings, the CEO/Police Chief/Commissioner Johnson did not present a plan to fund across the board pay raises for sworn police offices or for a tax increase. A “plan” was talked about at the 2/26 public meeting but not presented for a vote. It was presented at the 3/11 meeting following a “get out the community” campaign. The main difference from the adopted budget was an additional 4% pay increase for some sworn officers and an increase to YOUR taxes."

THE TRUTH IS VJ WAS LOOKING TO COMMISSIONERS TO CUT THE BUDGET IN ORDER TO BALANCE IT, WHICH HE HAS TO DO BY LAW. THE COMMISSIONERS MADE CUTS AND THAT IS WHEN JOHNSON'S PLAN WAS FIRST INTRODUCED. IT INCLUDED A TAX INCREASE BUT AVOIDED BUDGET CUTS AND GOT MORE FOR FD AND PD.

THE CHIEF DID NOT NEED TO SUBMIT A "PLAN" AS HE HAD ALREADY DONE SO WITH THE ICP. HE HAS ALREADY ASKED FOR 8% INCREASES.

THE FACT IS, IT WAS GANNON, BOYER,ELLIS & RADER WHO VOTED FORE THE LIMITED INCREASE. THEIR INTENT IS TO PROTECT CITIZENS FROM A TAX INCREASE WHILE THE ECONOMY IS BAD. NEVERMIND THAT YOU ALL SUFFER THROUGH THE SAME ECONOMY.

SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPS-WAS NOT MEANT AS SCREAMING.

DKPD ANON SAYS ALL CAPS IS RIGHT

ALL CAPS makes an accurate assessment of the situation, except the four Commissioners who voted FOR the increase voted for one that parallels Commissioner Johnson's resolution so far as the amounts and who gets paid. DeKalb County has not yet posted Burrell Ellis' substitute motion on their web site, and I cannot find a copy of it through a google search ---but it DOES give the same pay increases that Larry Johnson requested ... and to more people!
