Does The Vision Continue?

On Thursday July 24, 2008 the DeKalb County Fraternal Order of Police, for what it is worth, endorsed Stan Watson for C.E.O. This story aired on WSB TV. During the video clip, former police Chief Louis Graham was seen standing beside Stan Watson along with former police Chief Eddie Moody.

If your memory must be jogged, Graham and his Assistant Chief, Ray Flemister was forced to resign after a profanity-laced tape surfaced in which they made racially charged comments related to promotions. One lawsuit was settled out of court costing the citizens of DeKalb untold amounts of money, while other litigation is pending against Graham and the county.

Moody said with some jubilation that if Stan Watson is elected, he would be willing to serve as Chief of Police once again. But the question is; what role is Louis Graham playing? Is he simply an adviser and supporter of Watson, or does he except a position within the police department? Does Watson believe all is forgiven and forgotten?

WSB did interview Burrell Ellis about the Chief of Police position. Ellis simply stated he supports Terrell Bolton and his initiatives.

No matter who is elected to C.E.O., it appears the police departments motto will carry on: “The Vision Continues”

I can guarantee you that Chief Graham will not coming back to the police department. There have been no promises made to Chief Moody either. However, I for one would love to see him or some other deserving officer as the new chief.

Moody has my vote! As far as Graham goes we have no place for bigots - black, white or other.

Well if former Chief Graham comes back, well he against Vernon..NOW.. and he still has the past remarks about white officers that was exposed. Chief Moody could have been a good leader but he was with Vernon until he realized that he did'nt take the sword.

Wonder how many will bolt for the new City of Dunwoody with all of this inspiration??? Betting is high on that one, heard that even some old DKPD are itching for that one...

Wake up people!! Get out now. The department is never going to get better. The mere presence of Graham supporting the "new" canidate for CEO should be a huge clue. Lets see, Vernon gave, yes gave the current Chief position to an ass-clown that is UNEMPLOYABLE as a police officer due to his racially charged background in Dallas. Yet he gets a job in DeKalb. A job, following the disgrace of Graham, who got slammed for the same type of racial comments. DeKalb is a joke, a place that encourages racist like these two chiefs. Give me a break, it will not get better. I would bet that Iran abandons it's nuclear program before DeKalb county turns around. So to all the good officers out there, get your resume's out there, and move on!

Moody had his problems and issues, but the department wasn't in complete turmoil.

The issues associated with the Moody regime were kept quiet, private and at the top levels. They didn't interfer with day to day policing and the running of a police department.

I for one wouldn't mind having him back. Officers back then had a sense of pride and commitment.

Rookies didn't know everything and listened to senior officers.

Family members weren't throwing gang signs at graduation.

Officers weren't driving DUI and hitting the ground after a 41.

Officers weren't telling radio to hold a dispatched call for a traffic stop.

There were issues, but we didn't have those type of things happening on a regular basis back then.

Officers were accountable for their territories and themselves.

We were head and shoulders above where we are now. I'd like to see how Moody would run the department after spending time as a civilian looking in from the outside.

I thought the county already had a shooting range off Klondike Road?
Also funny how DeKalb is one of the most Democratic counties in the country, while Blackwater is one of the most Republican of companies in America.
And how much is DCPD spending on Blackwater training?

Though Blackwater has been investigated by nearly every federal agency that could think to care about the business, the company remains a favorite among its clients who use the facility to learn new techniques.

"All the instructors we know are the most professional that there are," Sgt. David Aderhold of the Dekalb County, Ga., Sheriff's Office said while sweating through drills at a Blackwater gun range. "It's never entered our mind to send somebody somewhere else besides here at Blackwater."
