The Magic Buses Roll Tonight for National Night Out!

August 5 is not only primary runoff when we will learn who will have the honor to fire Bolton, be it Ellis or Watson, but it is also National Night Out, which invites residents to come out and meet their neighbors, police and fire officials.

We have learned North Precinct will have it’s Magic Bus stationed at Brookhaven Station, 7-9pm. Food and Beverages provided by PUB 71, Mellow Mushroom and Hudson Grill.

East and Center Precinct will take their Magic Buses on a road trip within their respective boundaries to include Walnut Creek subdivision in Lithonia and The Greater Towers Community at Lou Walker Park, 3569 Larkspur Terrace in Decatur, starting at 6 p.m. (Isn’t diesel fuel still $5.00 plus a gallon?)

Tucker Precinct plans are not known. It is unsure if any Watch Commanders will be available because it appears Captain Yarbrough has ordered each and every Lieutenant be disciplined for “Neglect of Duty” because the county computer system failed over the weekend. Because of this, they were not able to complete their asinine weekly statistical information. If Yarbrough and the rest of the incompetent command staff are intelligent enough, they can read the same manufactured factious manure statistics by reading their email sent from Crime Analysis on a daily and weekly basis. And if they are not able to accomplish that, then they can ask their aides to read it to them, seeing how the aides are doing the exact same job as Crime Analysis.

Back to the issue; not only are all DeKalb County residents encourage to vote today, they along with any family and friends, being DeKalb residents or not, are encouraged to participate during National Night Out and to tour any one of the Magic Buses so you can judge for yourself the waste and squander of money in these purchases.

Who knows, if you are in the right financial position, go ahead and pick the one you want to bid on when they are put up for auction when Hayseed “TeBo” Bolton bolts back to Texas.

The crime analysis unit should be the only entity compiling and distributing crime analysis information. Everybody in the precincts and CID can read. Duplication and sometimes triplication of efforts is obviously a waste of manpower and time in a county and police department that is deluged in crime. But it seems the same logic that sends highly competent personel to crossing guards, property room and animal control, for punninsment (when they should be assigned to real policing assignments) is prevailing. Where is the real leadership? They have all left in disgust!

Why has the Crime/Analysis detectives got take home vehicles? I can't remember the last time I ever saw them called out.

The only answer I have is that very time a robbery happens they get called out to put a pin on a map? Seems like a waste of gas and wear and tear on a county car. Seems like just another "perk" to go along with straight day shift and weekends off. I wonder how many of them ever worked in Major Crimes...or any crime for that matter.

please tell me that Crime analysis desk personnel dont really have take home vehicles!! Is this a joke?

As a civilian taxpayer I am appauled at what I have heard about all of the "take home", permanently assigned Dekalb County police ( and other departments within Dekalb as well )vehicles, marked or un marked that are assigned as perks to people that NEVER EVER get called out for anything, including higher ranked assistant and deputy chief's. Are we not in a recession? Are the prices of mechanical meintenance not on the rise? Is gas not at about $4.00 a gallon? I hear that most of these people use these cars only to go to and from work and to and from lunce in addition to personal use. This is an unbelieveable waste of my tax money. I don't have a company car, why should they? The next CEO of Dekalb should review this unbelieveable waste of tax payer money as soon as he is in office. We can no longer afford this perk due to the recession and the loss of Dunwoody as a real tax base.

You'd be real upset if you knew that some of those assigned and take home vehicles are the ultra fuel efficient Suburbans, Tahoes and Expeditions.

Why some of these people need big SUV's is beyond me. They don't haul equipment for use the field and I'd be surprised if they ever have anyone if not more than one or two people are riding with them at a given time.

Please tell me that we haven't sunk to writing up watch commanders for neglect of duty?? All this for a report a day late due to computer failure. If this is true someone really needs to look into a mirror and remember where they came from.
