Call it for what it is: Propaganda. Bolton is not merit protected, no matter the lies.

After Jones leaves, future unclear for some DeKalb officials

Gotta consider the source...

The AJC has always been friendly to Vernon and FOV's (Friends of Vernon). I'm surprised Dave Simpson wasn't the reporter...IMHO he's had a Vernon slant for as long as I can remember.

I'm with you...if Bolton IS merit protected, that would be something new.

Is it possible that merit protection for the Chief was part of the changes designed to do away the merit protected Cpt.'s position...aka the new appointed position of Deputy Chief?

Maybe the FOP or the toothless so called union, the IBPO, would be willing to stand up and correct this.

The chief is merit protected always has been. That is why Chief Moody and Chief Graham either retired or resigned.

The Chief is not merit protected. Captains and below are merit protected. Majors and above are appointed, so they are not merit protected. Someone needs to reread their employee manual.

When is the F.O.P. and the I.B.P.O, together or separately going to pin a letter of "no confidence" of Chief Terrell Bolton?
They should be in the forefront of condemning Bolton and Vernon Jones. But then, it does take balls to face Bolton and his ass kissers.

Yep, the Chief is merit protected. Check out the online version of the county ordinances. Here it is, cut and pasted:
