Will Bolton do the right thing?

Hurricane Ike is bearing down on the gulf coast states, already wreaking havoc on our country's fuel sources. Gas prices have soared to over $5.00 a gallon. At some places in the metro area, people are lined up for gas with predictions of shortages and rationing for the upcoming week or two.

While Bolton is away in Europe, will he make the phone call to whoever is in charge now to park all non-essential take home cars including ICP, aides and civilians? Millions and millions of people will have to make a sacrifice over the next couple of weeks. Officers without take home cars will see their out of pocket cost increase to protect the citizens of DeKalb County.

Will TeBo take the taxpayers of DeKalb County into account and do the right thing by parking these cars? If Terrell continues with his arrogate management style during this time of crisis, will Vernon step in with an executive order?

Nah

The Vision Continues!

I just found out the other day that many of the members on the SWAT Team don't even have take home cars! Can you believe that? We have civilians with take home cars but our SWAT Team has to respond to in progress calls from their homes in their personal cars with no blue lights or siren!!!

That is a complete joke. How would you feel if you were a civilian and taken hostage and the SWAT Team responds in their own cars sitting in traffic and waiting for red lights like everyone else. WOW. Not to mention those SWAT Officers are on call 24/7 and they have to spend their own money on gas. I could not believe it when I heard it and I actually verified it for myself.

I bet the public information officer and some civilian aides get to the scene of a SWAT standoff before some of the SWAT Team Members do.

Has anyone ever noticed that whenever TeBo poses for a formal picture he drapes his left hand over his right arm to look as if he's crossing his arms. What he's actually doing (and you can see it in his picture on dekalbpolice.com) is showing off his bling. He pulls his sleeve up just enough to show off his expensive watch and fancy wedding ring. Is this guy a joke or what? Where is his big fat gold chain to go along with it.

At first I thought it was just in that picture but he does it everytime he takes a formal picture. Just look for yourself.

That sho is nice Bling Terrell! The only thing that would top off his picture is for him to have a girl on each shoulder and maybe one of the new recruits throwing gang signs in the background.

Not only do swat members have to driver their personal vehicles when being called out, they are on their own with no department backing if they get pulled over or get in a vehicle accident. So per policy we have swat members waiting at red lights and driving at the speed limits while enroute to calls from up to 35 miles from the county line. That is BS. On the flip side yes gas prices have went up, why should officers with take home cars suffer? ICP was offered take home cars but also have to work five days a week. The take home car issue was the perk to compensate the five day work week. Prior to here I came from a large department and was shocked to see that many of the departments here dont have a take home care program. Should every department in america have its officers give up their cars? Lets be real a county with over a 100 million dollar budget should be able to move some money around.
Take home cars actually save gas. The vehicle is being driven only one shift per day insteand of 24/7. Stop being such a hater when it comes to take home cars for officers. I say "good for them"

Well nothing against the person assigned to the vehicle, why does the Sargent over the Infectious Control for the police department have a take home car? How many times is he called out to the scene where he needs to respond? This is where everyone questions, who is leading this department? We are out of police units for replacements for this year. I wonder what is next in our future for response vehicles to 911 calls. Just look at the command staff in place and ask who they are and where they came from, we will self destruct.

Lets have a roll call of divisions, (no names) who have a take home car but no on call responsibilities, I'll start it off.

Background and recruiting,

This could go on for days.

What the crap are we accomplishing here??? I understand that people are frustrated about the administration. What I don't understand is why we're calling out line level officers on their "take home cars". This is what gets me about this department! We're so quick to judge the leadership (sometimes for good reason) but then we take it a step further and start going after each other. WE'RE IN THE SAME BOAT PEOPLE! This is why we can't get our act together and stand up to the leadership.....we're to busy bickering with each other. One thing I haven't heard alot about on this blog is the issue of the "MPO incentive. Last time I heard we all did the same job and all our patches say Dekalb. 10 bucks says the people running this blog are part of the $300,000 waste of money to pay some people extra for doing the same jobs as their peers. The administration does this stuff knowing we'll harbor ill feelings towards our brothers so we don't join together and fight the bigger evil. Stop this bickering and see the big picture.....WE ARE ALL HURTING RIGHT NOW! Tale home cars or not........

I think everyone wants the public to be aware of wasteful spending. This could go for raises and better equipment purchases. The money saved by the department would make it a better place to work.
