Gwinnett police sergeants sue over pay discrepancies

All around the metro area, police officers file suit against their respective county or municipality when the officers are wronged. But it seems here in Dekalb, we just bend over and take it.

How many years has there been a pay discrepancy in DeKalb among all ranks?

Police Benevolent Association: Inactive

Fraternal Order of Police: Historically kisses the ass of whichever regime happens to be in power, along with dance hall rental.

International Brotherhood of Police Officers: Not really sure what they do, but they do don't compare to the union brothers with A.P.D.

Can't speak for the inactive police orginizations here in DeKalb but I do hope Gwinnett fairs better than we did. Some of you might not know but many of us joined a lawsuit back 2000 or 2001 I cant remember exactly. We lost. Many other police and fire departments have been sued over this and it seems the departments always win. Good luck Gwinnett officers.

Dekalb police have always been very weak in standing up for their rights. Very weak. Any representation we have ever had has also been very weak. Who can we get to representate us to look out for our rights?

Good question...who?

Last group that tried made huge mistakes and set themselves up for failure. As a result, some are no longer police officers.

The union was too busy trying to be buddy buddy with a county that was hostile to them. They left their union officers hanging. You bargain through strength not weakness.

The county and Vernon got the word out loud and clear:

NO UNION AND NO REPRESENTATIVE! ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN PERIL! WE RUN THE SHOW AND WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK. GO WORK FOR GWINNETT OR LAWRENCEVILLE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT.

Who in their right mind would stand up and publicly fight for a better police department? Certainly not an officer.

Heck...we have to post under assumed names and names others have created just to be heard.

DKPD is the clearest example I have ever seen of a group that needs YANKEE union Teamster type representation with lawyers and knuckle busters.( not literally ). Northern police depts have representation that bargin for them, why can't the south do the same thing? Collective bargining is something that should be instituted in Georgia otherwise the police departments are just slaves to the whims of politicians who act only in their own interest....and that's the way they like it !
