All We Want for Christmas Is.........
We are compiling a top 10 Christmas list for the department. Santa already knows the need for an enema to flush out the command staff, so asking for their replacement is a given.
One of our wishes is a 911 system capable of dispatching calls to the correct precinct.
What is yours?

We need to look at what we had before Chief Bolton and what we have today. Well I think we have taken a step backward in the future of DeKalb , I hope the new leaders will bring us to the front of the line. I hope the coming year will be a good one. We need someone who will listen to the line level problems.
1. Detectives and Officers -
Enough detectives to work the caseload and enough officers on the street to safely and effectively answer calls and proactively go after the problems.
2. Patrol Cars -
Enough new, working patrol cars to get Uniform on the road without waiting or without the need to come in early. Take homes would be better and would give Uniform more time out patrolling, but let's not be greedy.
3. Computer System -
A computer system that dispatches my calls and allows me to run tags and people on a regular basis. (I have to give credit where credit is due....lately the system has been up and working).
4. Laptops -
Patrol car laptops that have working touch screens and keyboards.
5. CID cars -
Unmarked cars with reasonable mileage for CID
6. Tasers -
So I have an option other than shooting the suspect or sending him or both of us to Grady.
7. Vacation -
A relaxing of the "temporary" restricted vacation policy in force across the precincts. A hard and fixed limiting of the number off really makes it hard to get approval for vacation. Give the Lt. the authority to grant waivers. The policy was initially rolled out with the understanding that it was only to be in effect a few months. I think it went hand in hand with the Forced Overtime.
8. Glocks or Sig's instead of Smith
I'd rather carry a Glock or a Sig instead of the Smith it looks like they're gonna go with.
9. "Leadership -
Sgt's, Lt's and higher that aren't afraid to make a decision. Let's get back to policing and stop acting like someone about to be transferred to Animal Control, Radio, or Code Enforcement.
10. 911 Dispatch System -
I'll Ditto that one...how many times do we need to "cancel the unit, that's on X precinct."
Merry Christmas to all.
May the New Year bring LOTS of changes and improvements.
Please Santa - A Laptop system that lets us all see dispatched and pending calls, and where our cars are at!
Oh, and Santa, can you please make Uniform the #1 unit in the department again, instead of the smallest unit everybody craps on. And how about giving Uniform Division top of the line equipment, instead of giving it all to specialized units that are someone's brainchild!
A real police uniform. Police are called "the men in blue" for a reason. "Thin blue line" ring a bell?
L.A.P.D's uniform rocks! Even our Burgess era blue uniforms were just fine.
A Carbon Motors E7 Patrol Car like the one I saw on the Fox News webpage.
The called it a patrol car built from the ground up as a police car -
Lights and stropes built right into the frame
Night vision
License plate readers
Plastic Bench seating in the rear
Seats designed for gunbelts
Check it out! Way cool.....and Carbon Motors is an Atlanta based company.

How about promotional testing that doesn't obviously cater to the select few given the answers.
Sorry Boys, but you ain't gonna get none of that until the people who pay you get half a brain and quit electing the yahoos that are the BOC. Obviously they won't do squat for you until somebody kicks THEIR door in.
Stay safe and thanks for doing what you do.
My wish would be for you to understand what we have to work with in the 911 center. Equipment & personnel. It's embarrassing.
Rather than one wish, I've compiled a list:
-A Chief who cares about his offcers.
-A Chief who cares about his department.
-A Chief who cares about his community.
-A competent command staff.
-Enough patrol cars for uniform division.
-Tasers
