Deputy Chief Denson to resign as of January 1, 2009

Sources close to the 4th floor are saying Deputy Denson has submitted his paperwork, resigning, with his last day being January 1, 2009.

We don’t know much about Denson and really don’t have much of an opinion about him and we wish him well. But one thing is obvious, he is not on board with TeBo and Margarita.

Slamin Ethel says its about time someone who was hired here for the wrong reason realizes it and moves on. I praise you for doing the right thing.

He was not a bad guy, think about it, you were recruited to come here from another police department. This was a challenge for anyone. He look at the leadership and said , I have had enough...goodbye. He was probably a good guy, and he will be proud of his decision.

I wonder if he knows that he will be fired anyway after the new CEO comes in, and figures that a resignation looks better on a job resume than "terminated"?

Well they issue two more take home cars, the TRT commanders get the credit. We have to get miles on the dark tinted black crown vic's. If we don't , guess what , we have them around for years.

I don't know much about Denson but, it seems that Margarita Williams is always in the mix of everything that goes bad in this Department. Apparently Denson is not a yes man. Maybe that's why effective Jan 01, we are to refer to Tebo as "Chief of Police". I thought it was because thinks that we are to not smart enough to know that "Police Chief" is merit protected and Director of Police Services is not. Now, I think it may be because she is Director of Police Services and he's the Chief. Makes sense to me. She thinks she's in charge of the Department and TeBo is second in command.

I don't know much abou the guy. From my brief encounter with the guy, he seemed like a nice guy. However, in the end, he is part of this screwed up administration. Maybe he realized the ship is going to sink and is jumping ship.

Chief Denson already had 30 years with APD. I'm guessing he could care less about his resume and just saw this mess of a police department and no longer wanted any part of it. No need to personally bash the man.

Politics aside, Chief Denson seemed like a decent man and did fine in his brief tenure as head of CID (which is to say that he watched how detectives worked without making immediate sweeping changes and left them alone to do their work). He was very rules-oriented, but also very visible and approachable.

If he has indeed resigned, then I see no reason not to wish him well wherever he may go. It can't have been easy, coming into this administration. He already had thirty years at APD, three of which were as an acting Major. I think he's probably set.

He was only appointed to Major when he came here, and forced Major O'Brien to be demoted back to Captain.

I knew DC Denson during his many years at APD. He is actually a pretty good guy and was not a "company man" while working for the APD. He followed the rules but would go out of his way to help you out. I hope your leadership gets it together over there. Pretty soon they might start calling you guys "Apd Junior".
Stay safe.
