High Crime Task Force: Nothing More Then Forced Overtime

As mentioned, Bolton tricked the Board of Commissioners into believing he had initiated a “High Crime Task Force” to combat violent crime. In truth, it was nothing more than forced overtime for, you guessed it, 50 officers, during the Christmas season of 2007. At the initial onset, these officers were to work forced overtime for 90 days.

The reason the overtime was forced, was because there was never a “High Crime Task Force”. At first, officers were asked to volunteer for overtime during the holiday season. For whatever reason, maybe the lack of confidence in Bolton, less than 10 officers volunteered. Maybe another reason is there was no structured or organized “unit” known as the “High Crime Task Force”.

If there was such a unit, one would imagine a notice would have been issued similar to this: “Now seeking 50 applicants for the newly formed “High Crime Task Force”. The task force will be required to work irregular days and hours. Each accepted applicant will be issued a take home car during the duration of the task force. Purpose of the task force is to sweep the county of violent offenders and repeat offenders.”

If a actual task force had been formed, there would have been officers lined around the Magic Buses to get in. Instead, Bolton fooled the BOC and formed ICP. In theory, if you have the manpower, ICP could be a useful tool. However, under Bolton, it is nothing more than a tool to win over support for him. He figured he would need this support when the light shined on his idiosyncrasies and incompetence.

Someone please help me understand how the county can provide VIP members with county cell phone, yet we have Sergeants on the street everyday using their personal cell to assist officers and call citizens when needed. Is TeBo attempting to buy the support of the citizen.

Fly on the Wall

This was a joke we would show up on our last day working for 4 hours overtime after our shift. Then we were told go ride around in a precinct, with no direction or type crime we would be addressing. We were told go write tickets and be seen. This was our basic plan of action. No matter what you call these plans GAP or BOB , it was still a joke.

I heard they are going to take the black crown vic's and decal them and put them out to put miles on them. Since the motor officers has to replace the command staff of black crown vic's with dark tinted out windows every 10 thousand miles. So we have a abundant of under mileage black crown vic's. If I lived in this county I would wonder why these cars need the dark tinted windows to hide the drivers. I wonder what the price is to tint these cars? Does anyone have the answer.

They think the tinting makes them look inportant like they are secret service or something. That's something Mr CEO started when he was pretending to be the President of the United States of Dekalb County. I'll be happy to see Mr CEO..I mean Mr president of Delakb go on his way...without his security detail of course. How is he going to act without all the bell boy's around him all the time.
