What's the big deal....wasn't the taser thing simply a matter of

1) Voting to ACCEPT a federal handout,

and

2) To actually spend that handout on what you told the feds you would spend it on.

Come on, its not that complicated.

listen, spending money on something that can help save officers lives is not as important as looking good in a magic bus, what a freakin joke. Hey, if we sell all of our guns maybe we can buy some more helicopters or even a private plane

Y'all don't get it do you? The politicians are more worried about potential lawsuits and bad press than your sorry butt! I"m willing to guess that there is a rather large and vocal part of DeKalb citizens that are against us having tasers. All it takes is one incident where a taser and death are mentioned in the same news cast and everyone goes crazy over tasers. It doesn't matter that they actually work in protecting the officer and lessening the injury to suspects. It doesn't even matter that some of those killed by bullets would be alive today if tasers were available. Vernon took the tasers away after a few sensationized news stories and it's going to be a fight to get them back. It was never about cost or anything such thing, I give us a 40-60 chance on getting them back. Hopefully logic will win the day.

While there may be some who dislike tasers, there is a large and vocal contigent of citizens who want you to have tasers - who know you need them to be safer on the streets. You can bet we'll be there in front of the commission at the end of the month letting our voices be heard.

Folks, the taser money is not federal money. Tasers will come from seized funds already in our bank account. The same funds that paid for the Houston trips and the magic buses. Those things, of course, are much more important than Tasers, which not only work quite well, but actually serve a legitimate purpose. Unlike the magic buses and trips to a jurisdiction that is not comparable to Dekalb. No logic in this place.
