Houston, we still have a problem!

The Transition Team found the “shadowing” trips to Houston P.D. incur unnecessary travel cost. They also said: “Moreover, Houston is a municipality not similar in size or makeup to DeKalb, and there are adequate training facilities in Georgia”.

Well guess what folks, there is a meeting Thursday January 8, 2009 to finalize the agenda for the team of people leaving Sunday the 11th for Houston. Wait, maybe we mis-read what the Transition Team said:” trips to Houston P.D. incur unnecessary travel cost”. “Moreover, Houston is a municipality not similar in size or makeup to DeKalb, and there are adequate training facilities in Georgia”. Nope, we read it right.

While Terrell Bolton and Kesha “Margarita” Williams are planning field trips, police officers are facing a crisis at home. Many, many officers do not have health insurance because of the counties inability to cope with the forced insurance changes. There are officers who have children and spouses with serious illnesses, yet health care can not be afforded. This was not a choice by these officers; this was forced up on them.

Some say give Burrell Ellis time. Well, some people don’t have time. They need their insurance now. Mr. Ellis needs to acknowledge there is a problem and reassure his police and fireman he is doing everything in his power to correct this problem. Ellis ran for office knowing he would step in Vernon and Bolton's bullshit. Well, he just did, and it is getting on us!

Hhhhhhhmmmmm, detectives can't get computers, uniform has car shortages, and the health insurance had to be changed all in the name of saving money.

Seems like the rank file again, is taking it in the shorts so TeBo can do what ever he pleases with County funds.

This is a complete outrage. The Houston trip needs to be cancelled.

The officers going Sunday need to grow a set and tell Tebo and Keisha they are not going! How can Tebo make you leave the state for so called "training"? It is time to stand up to him!

I went to the doctor today. I was told that I have hypertension. Let me tell you, it was drama to get Human Resource on the phone, so they could explain to my doctor's billing person that I supposedly have insurance. In addition, I was given several prescriptions for treatment. However, I was only able to afford to purchase one prescription. Why? Well that is because I don't have anyway to show CVS that I am insured. Also, Cigna has no idea who I am. Each medication cost approximatley $130 dollars.. THANKS DEKALB......

This county is out of control and higher ups are not handling their responiblities. Something needs to be done and not later and no not we are looking into it. I think its time for officers to stand up and take a stand. I know a strike is not a good idea but refusing to issue tickets until something is done about this county is. That is there bread and butter we all know that.

"true story worth reading"

I was forced to change insurances from United Health care, to CIGNA. on 1/6/09 I had a Dr. appt with a specialist which was fully covered by CIGNA. On my last paycheck I noticed that CIGNA deducted the correct cost for insurance coverage, however today prior to my visit I was concerned as I hadnt recieved my insurance cards. Feeling that this was obviously not going to be an issue I called, and was told I was not in their system and that they hadnt recieved the enrollment form from DeKalb County I immediately called Human Resourses and was told "well dont worry about it, if your physician needs to they can call us to verify insurance" I arrived at the Doctor knowing I would have to pay the $15 co-pay. The Doctors office required CIGNA's identification number to cover services. I again called human resourses and was told to contact employee benifits and given a name of Ms. Jones. I called the number provided and recieved a voice mail. Obviously Ms. Jones was in an important position so I assumed I would just leave a message and she would return my call proptly, however her mailbox was full, and I was never able to make contact with her. My wife is currently pregnant and for the health of the unborn child, the visit had to take place. I was told full payment needed to be paid upfront the total being $987.48. Put yourself in my shoes, what else was I to do, I gave the lady my visa, along with cursing in the lobby in disbelief, but then thinking "am I really surprised". Fortunately the front office lady inquired as to my employer and happened to be a DeKalb resident, and stated they would charge CIGNA at a later date, and took my word that I would be in touch. Please tell me there will be some type of investigation as to the insurance mess.

My point is this, if your reading this and a DeKalb employee who has recently made changes, call your insurance, and verify coverage, but dont expect anyone from DeKalb County to feel for you, or assist you in any way. Have we hit rock bottom yet?

We still have to go to Houston , the question is why what does HOUSTON have that we need to look at that would need to be make Dekalb a better place to live.

I am here in Houston, The Dekalb guys seem like nice guys. Not sure what why they are here, but I am always happy to meet other cops.

It is wrong to get on here and say we need to stand up to Bolton, this a para military enviroment and those kind of actions come with extreme consquences so stop getting on here telling people to do things that will get them in trouble not YOU! The real focus should be on bettering this dept

paramilitary....? it may have been at one point, its far from that now. just look around you

I guess some one just reminded TeBo that Vern was gone and his days of spending freely are over....The houston trip has been "postponed".

I for one did receive my insurance cards a couple of weeks ago. I had an occasion to use the Caremark insurance card for prescriptions today and all went fine. I'd rather have BCBS but all seems ok for now with me on this subject. I'm not mentioning names but some of the people you guy's are ripping are fine with me. Things need to be fixed here but give credit where credit is due too. Surely somebody in the command staff earned the rank is competent and is doing his / her job. Are there any Commanders or supervisors who left, retired or were run off in the last few years that you WOULD like to see return to help build the place back up?

Yes I agree it is there bread and butter and if officers refuse to go Keisha (Margartia ) Williams will surely have them fired, or demoted. She is horrible I can't wait until she is out of the state of GA. I hope the new CEO read this site and realize she is the next problem after TEBO
