Finally, the press picks up on it. But there are still untold amounts of employees and retirees having a hard time with their coverage.

This blog page was established so DeKalb County Police Officers including their family and friends may have a place to hold discussions, post news and vent without fear of retribution.

The insurance company tried to tell DeKalb to do it over a time period, no they said we can do it in one week.
Well guess what , leadership says it all.
I find it very hard to believe that 99% of the problems are taken care of as stated by the Dekalb spokesperson. My wife's prescription coverage through Caremark is still not straightened out. Has it improved for any of you? My life insurance coverage is only half of what I had marked. Anybody else have that problem?
I too find it difficult (impossible, actually) to believe that the stated problems are resolved. I'm still trying to talk to a human at Human Resources. The two people they tell you to call do NOT answer their phone - it goes directly to voice mail - and then you can't leave a message because their mailbox is FULL. The next step is a visit to their office, I guess. Whoever was in charge of this fiasco should be terminated or demoted to custodial services.
I had the real treat of listening to the man, (I don't recall his name only that he was very unprofessional in the way he spoke) who came to explain how BCBS was way too expensive and did not provide any kind of health care. He went on to say how the BCBS Doctors just used the county employees in expensive drug studies. I was first taken aback by his use of swear words when referring to BCBS. Now there were people from all departments there and some officers with rank from PD. They said nothing and did nothing while this guy ranted away. They knew the fix was in and didn't want to rock their boat full of rank. He really had some type of ax to grind with BCBS. I loved the part where he stated that only a small percentage of people on BCBS seemed to use the most funds. No DUH !! Older retired people who paid there dues and risked their lives for the county for many many years were now older and their health begins to fail. They will use more funds. AGAIN NO DUH !!! Does this sound a little like maybe now raise your hand if you have heard this term before SOCIAL SECURITY? We pay in but dont get when its our time to retire. This joker does not know that what 95% of the crime is done by what 5% of the population. Hey MCFLY are you there ? Much like health care you dolt. So all the money that you said could be saved by switching from BCBS is less than a 25% what is missing from recorders court. Again we pay for fraud under VJ's watch. Why I look forward to next year when again MCFLY tries to make himself look good to the BOC and sends us GRADY cards in interoffice mail for us to use. And all you retires who live out of state well you just look towards the federal government to take care of you with the low bid health care. Hey MCFLY since you and the disinterested woman who was also there do not have the skill set to sit down with BCBS and hammer out a better deal for the county how about calling the state or federal folks and get us at least some free government cheese!

I am still not enrolled with CVS Caremark and am paying prescriptions out of pocket. Caremark advises that Dekalb Co has not submitted the enrollment info and that they are still waiting for HR to call or send electronically. Caremark advises that their phones are ringing off the hook from Dekalb employees with the same problem. They are at work answering the phone and trying to help while our HR Dept in Decatur took the holiday off. Even if they were at work, they would not answer the phone or emails. This is a major case of NEGLECT OF DUTY and someone needs to be held accountable. No risk management employee should be allowed off until this entire MESS is corrected. This is an embarrassment to Dekalb County.
It's been almost a month now and my family still has no dental insurance. I'm terrified I'm going to be stuck with a huge bill from the orthodontist.
