This blog page was established so DeKalb County Police Officers including their family and friends may have a place to hold discussions, post news and vent without fear of retribution.
I'm curious about what CEO Ellis' all hands Cpt and above meeting was all about. Sure would like to have been a fly on the wall for that.
Gotta give him credit......he's actually come and met with PD.
I'd love to have also been a fly on the wall when Bolton found out....bet that went over as well as when Bolton found out that Sheriff Brown was heading up the Public Safety Transition Committee and that PD would not be providing Executive Security.
Yeah....its getting interesting.
Monday is when Bolton is supposed to be back. Stay tuned......
Wow! Does Bolton think people believe his lies? He sounds like a 3 year old trying to make excuses and spinning lies to cover himself. I'm a citizen and I don't buy it...nor do a growing number of concerned citizens. We all see right through it, and hate how Bolton portrays DeKalb in such a bad, negative light. Sadly, the transfer issue is just the tip of a colossal iceberg. Thanks to Ellis for taking care of our guys in Blue! Without a doubt Bolton has failed in that arena.
I feel for all the officers of DKPD, and especially those who works close to Bolton. He's the type of guy who rules by fear and intimidation. If you don't live by his rules you pay a huge price. If you live by his rules (to keep the peace, and your job) you probably end up comprimising yourself. The only place you should encounter fear and intimidation is on the streets, not in the office. This madness needs to end!
What do perps say when confronted with the truth " TALK TO MY LAWYER" , that was so embarrassing for a appointed police chief to say to a reporter asking a question.
Dale Russell kept his cool during this whole issue, a real professional. I wish he would have asked him , "Ok what is his name"
Ok people lets get a little reality check here. First of all I don’t give a crap about Bolton just like I have not gave a crap about the last 3 or 4 chiefs. To make a head line “Controversial transfers not forgotten” is ridiculous. Any veteran of this department knows and has seen every new chief make such transfers and appointments. It is so nice that the new CEO shows a concern about it. I hope his door remains open when his new chief does the same thing to people. Mark Winnie you should be ashamed for reporting the crap but now that you have I certainly hope you come back to report it again soon. I guess Mark is feeling a little bad about all the Bolton butt licking he did when he first arrived in town. That was sickening for quite awhile.
Mr. CEO please don’t jump and make some kind of pity moves for these three that were on the news without doing some homework.. The bottom line is that two of them have milked cushy jobs through past administrations and felt they were entitled under Bolton. When they did not get them they began to undermine anything Bolton did. Annette Lane has never been anything but a laissez faire supervisor, great to work for because of that but a terrible and incapable manager. The news said Jagoe is a former officer of the year, when the hell was that 1977. He could have said his claim to fame is being a former chiefs lackey. We all remember how big that head got then. I recall a past picture on this site where people were making fun of that fact that it appeared Jagoe’s head was attached to Bolton’s shoulder. I guess he should have done more to keep it there. Both of you should have boasted to Mark Winnie about the great schools you got to attend back when you were in the “clique.” Maybe not since it obviously did nothing to help you become better managers.
They very publicly began to seek out who they thought might be the next CEO so they could make sure they got included on his team and got back in the clique. Well I hate to tell you Mr. Ellis but they messed up again and went to your opponent’s camp. They have had a hard time as of late, oh well. Heck if they were not merit protected the chief probably would have fired them. Instead he put them in out of the way places where maybe they would not infect as many troops.
I don’t know what Capt. T.D. did but I think they said he refused to go on the Houston trip. Well Mr. CEO if you tell one of your management level employees to do something, don’t you expect it to be done, of course assuming it is legal. Then he spoke out about his buddy Capt. Jagoe getting transferred. We all know he cried about that because Jagoe was doing all the precinct administrative work, which he was incapable of doing himself.
Mr. CEO here’s and idea, why don’t you send all three to the North Precinct with the Major Calhoun who was promoted from Lt. to Major “on faith.” (Out of the mouth of Bolton). What a joke but maybe between the four of them maybe they could run that precinct, but I doubt it.
Well Mr. CEO you sure got your work cut out and I hope in the future you look out for everybody just like your doing for these people.
Hey Sheriff Brown you should be ashamed also. You did the same things here at the PD and I am sure at the S.O. too. Thank god you took your cronies over there with you. We don’t want or need you back either.
This whole county is a frigging freak show and soap opera that only the the chosen few who wind up in the “clique” give a crap about. Good luck to all and maybe ole Jimmy Helms could provide a class on how one gets in and stays in the “clique”. He seems to know how to play the game pretty well as long as the game does not require balls.
As far as the rant that anonymous went on earlier. Don't forget the trips to Houston were supposed to be "voluntary". So your hypothetical question to CEO Ellis should have mentioned that. After all when someone gives you a voluntary task to do, sounds like you have a choice. If it was an order it would say mandatory. Sounds like you have some pent up frustration with TD, maybe you should realize what an asset he is to uniform officers who worked for him. Don't lump him in with those other two.
To the person attacking Captain Lane-Woodard, Captain Jagoe, and Captain Williams, Sheriff Brown, and Chief Helms. You must really have an axe to grind against the command staff and must be one of TeBows appointees. You must be missing APD, because you do not have a clue. You do not know what you are talking about. Sheriff Brown was put into a very challenging situation after Derwin Browns Murder, he has proven himself at the Sheriffs office. Chief Helms has a great reputation in the law enforcement community. Each of these three Captains have done nothing wrong, they have at least proven to be hard working and honest. Captain Lane-Woodard has worked her way through the ranks over the years and has always been honest and above board. Captain Jagoe has also worked his way up through the ranks and he worked in Major Felony for many years. Captain Williams is a Cops Cop, he shows the officers how to do the job by example. What cushy jobs have they had? Supervisors in CID, Supervisors in Uniform, Detectives in CID, each of them have worked them all. You attack them because they have an education? You are the one who needs the education. How can you say they were in the "clique" because they attended great schools, I heard that going to SPI and FBI are number one, not easy to get into, and number two you work your a** off when you are there. Yes, Mr. CEO you do have your work cut out for you, and these three Captains plus many others can help you get the job done. Good LUCK!
Good one, Reality Check hit the nail on the head. Like they say around DKPD, IT IS WHAT IT IS,and THIS TOO SHALL PASS. The last post was pretty pathetic and obviously from a spouse or one of the three individuals themselves.Calling it an attack was a little over the top but the fact is the TRUTH HURTS. Also dont forget, opinions or like a..holes everybody has one.
I'm pretty sick of hearing everyone turning on each other and pointing fingers! Yes, Bolton is the cause of alot of the problems going on right now but, as some of the good o'timers (the ones who got smart and left many years ago)know, this has gone on FOREVER! Management will be management. Troops will be Troops. They give us our marching orders and we complain. Its just the way it goes. You want to point the finger at someone for the B.S. you go through everyday? Point it at the perps that run this County. No, not the BOC or CEO but the ones who walk the streets everyday. I'm talking about the parents who cry because their six time convicted burgler son from one of our outstanding High Schools got probation AGAIN. How about the ones crying because we don't do our jobs but when they witness a crime in front of them, they won't even give us a head nod in the direction of the perp. The protesters who cry because we shot the guy who would have robbed them tomorrow. How about the Judges who sentence. How about the Judges who hold trials at Mag. Court. I'm not going to trash anyone in the Command Staff because they worked and moved up the ladder and WANT to keep their rank. You think an Executive at any large company would piss off THEIR boss and expect to stay an Executive? If your bitter, maybe you should study for a promotion test or do more than what you have to just to "stay under the radar". And if you did do all that well...get the hint your an idiot. Thats why you never made it anywhere in the Department! You want to put the Command Staff up on crosses in front of 34, well I'm not gunna cast THOSE stones. Thugs, a department full of greedy, power hungry, give it to me for free, hand out taking-thugs is what we as a WHOLE have become. Point is, your a COP. You go out everyday to help the ones who can't help them selves. To protect the flock from the wolves. Your not liked, you don't get credit, and you will never get paid for the jobs worth but hell....if you remember back when you first got here, that wasn't why you came to begin with.
WOW the ICP crew must have really put some $$ on their kinko accounts so they could post. Very Admirable.. methinks i hear the words of Goebbels and Eichamann when Nuremberg came down. The corrupt petty reign of this incompetent hire is at high noon. No phone call from Jakes to Long can save him now. He should be pretty satisfied.. he stole money for 2-3 yrs?? I'm perfectly willing to give him a consolation bus for his excursion back to the Yellow Rose..
When I got here, I didn't have a family to support so getting the shaft on the promotional test didn't mean a thing. Trust me, I've taken tests and done well.
When I started here, there seemed to be enough officers and detectives to do our jobs.
When I started here, there were enough officers and detectives to make getting a day off not too difficult.
When I started here, there were enough cars to get two watches out on the street. Uniform had to sit around waiting for cars only on the common day.
When I started here, the higher ups looked out for the troops, not just the chosen. If you did a good job and were productive, you were taken care of. Being productive and smart was not a liability.
Yeah there were problems and corruption, but it was very low key and focused at the top.
Doing our job was possible and enjoyable. We've all just reach the point of frustration.
I wish people would stop listening to rumors from officers who don't know there ass from a hole in the ground not having enough cars to get a shift out has nothing to do with take home cars. We have the cars to put out the BOC, fleet maintenence, and CEO won't let them hit the road. We need to be critcal of the CEO and stop looking at him as some saving grace... He will be no different then when he was a commission battling police progress all the way.
Simple fact.... a finite number of cars are approved by the BOC
Every car assigned to someone who doesn't need a take home car to perform their job is one car taken from either CID, Uniform, SWAT or some other unit that has a 24 x 7 need for car with lights and a siren.
It is up to the Chief to decide how that limited resource is distributed. The Chief is responsible for assigning resources to where it makes the most sense and where it will be of greatest benefit to the citizens who pay their taxes.
We have chief that is not making the best use of that finite number of cars.
We can't blame or complain about the BOC or the CEO until we make proper use of what we have. Once that is done, we can go back to the BOC/CEO and hold their feet to the fire.
It's not about take home or not take home....it's about addressing needs vs. wants.
Everyone wants a take home car....not everyone needs one. I'm in uniform and I'm not subject to being on call. I don't need a take home car. I just need one there when I walk out of roll call.
Not a rumor....a fact. Our limited resources are being poorly utilized.
