Lee May's comment sounds like he continues to support Bolton:

“If he is pushed out, that is yet another police chief,” May said. “That’s the biggest problem we’ve had — inconsistency with police chiefs.”

Not sure about all of you, but I'll take another chief. Statistically sooner or later we will get a good one.

Psssttt Commissioner May, here is a great saying that applies to this situation: "You are where you deserve to be because of your actions."

Interesting to see how the commissioners are all letting Ellis take the lead, and avoiding commitment on the issue. Its also interesting to note that Simpson of the AJC is writing sympathetically of Bolton. Does he know something we don't? Doubt it, the AJC concentrates on Atlanta and Fulton and appears to get most of its information from press releases by DeKalb government. The AJC has done some very nice work in exposing corruption and incompetence in Atlanta city government but has backed off investigating DeKalb. Example. Many of us knew Sidney Dorsey was bad news and there was dozens of stories common knowledge about the corruption in the DeKalb SO (the infamous SO Harley's was but one, what ever happened to them anyway?) during his administration, and the AJC knew enough to investigate deeper but didn't for unknown reasons. I have always felt if the AJC had investigated deeper, and more people had talked of what they knew, we could of avoided the Derwin Brown murder from happening. The AJC's DeKalb office is in the Blue-glass building next to the CH. Never have found them in the office, or found them investigating in DeKalb about corruption.

There seems to be an effort by the AJC (David Simpson) and others to frame this matter as a personal dispute between the new CEO and Terrell Bolton. This is a ridiculous notion and could only be believed by someone who does not know the facts. Terrell Bolton was appointed by Vernon Jones and came to DeKalb County with a truck load of baggage including a termination by the city of Dallas TX. His performance as the DeKalb Police Chief has been a mirror image of his Dallas tenure and the results are equally as negative.
I have little doubt that Burrell Ellis dislikes Terrell Bolton personally but he is hardly alone. The vast majority of DeKalb County police officers have extremely negative feelings toward their chief and absolutely no respect for him at all. There have been numerous allegations of inappropriate behavior by Terrell Bolton since he has been chief. Most of these did not come from Burrell Ellis but from numerous other sources that have brought them to his attention.
So now the question is a simple one; who has the responsibility of investigating these numerous allegations? It appears that some are suggesting that in the interest of harmony, Ellis should just look the other way and ignore the obvious. It appears that in the interest of DeKalb County, Ellis has chosen to do his job and bare the criticism of the uninformed.

I've read Dave Simpson's articles and have yet to find one that is not slanted in favor of Vernon Jones or his minions.

Let's see an "investigative story" on what happened in Dallas.

I'm sure the citizens of Dekalb would be interested in the whole story. Heck, you doesn't even have to leave your office to do the reasearch. Just do a quick google search and go off what the Dallas reporters wrote.

How bout it Dave...

Are ya gonna tell the people about Bolton's last tenure as Chief.

Let's see how his previous track record of following orders and "respecting" his supervisors/bosses stacks up to recent history in Dekalb.

Bolton has a track record of not following orders and publicly showing no respect for his bosses.

The Dekalb Saga is nothing new.

Lee May was a complete Vernon lackey for years. He voted the way Vernon and Larry Johnson wanted him to vote almost every single time since he took office.

Larry Johnson and Lee May are going to try to stick it to Burrell every opportunity they have. Clueless Connie Stokes follws their lead. I pray that the newest commissioner actually has the brains and guts to vote on her own and not fall into the Johnson/May/Stokes cabal.

Lee May is a a Larry Johnson lackey and will always be a Vernon Jones apologist.

Did Bolton ever stand a chance? The way he was brought in by VJ? Would you move your family 1500 miles away from their home if you knew you were being hired by a lame duck CEO, most likely pushed out by the incoming administration especially given the history between Jones and Ellis? Short of walking on water, I don't think there was any thing Bolton could do right in this politically charged situation.

And I'm glad people have not forgotten about the shenanigans in the Sherriffs Office. People should be concerned about what is happening over there. Tom Brown heading up the PS task force for the transition, an elected official? A county official? There has to be some ethical questions with that.

As for the AJC, they rarely, if ever get it close, forget about right. Investigate? Not even when you do the work for them.

Dekalb Co commissioners, other than Ellis, are self serving weakings. Don't ever expect them to go out on a limb for anything but themselves.

"Did Bolton ever stand a chance?"

Yes, if he did a good job. But he didn't. He was a complete and utter embarassment.

Bolton has a history of leaving his family behind. He left his first wife and Terrell Jr. behind in Hattiesburg to take a job with the Dallas PD. He had a chance, and I'm sure Ellis gave him a chance last Monday, but Bolton thrives on conflict and is already thinking "large settlement."

There was nothing political until Bolton created that environment. All he had to do was be a good police chief. We didn't even need stellar, just good. But Bolton created a highly political atmosphere at DKPD, thus the numerous transfers, promotions, demotions and forced retirements. Anyone keep a count? Bolton created the mess he's in, just as he did in Dallas. Doubt he will be able to look in the mirror and accept any responsibility. Some people are pathetically blind to their own faults.

To the owner of this blog how dare you post stuff about peoples wife and kids. That is tacky and just plain evil. Why won't you post all blogs about the racism that has been going on in this department? This is confirming that there is a white racist under tone to this website. Come on guys do the right thing not the white thing

To Anon who wad upset over Bolton's family post. I'm a citizen, and was responding to the "Did bolton stand a chance" post. Wasn't trying to be tacky and evil, just factual.
