For those of us who don't know, who is Bill O'Brien ?

An excellent choice!

Awesome!

If that truly is the case, I couldn't think of a more honest, professional or honorable person to fill the position!

That is truly someone I'd be proud to serve under.

If true, my morale will be a little higher when I go in to work tomorrow.

But that's Just me.

WoW!!! At least O'Brien is fair and he knows this department like the back of his hand. I can see him as the new Chief and the future of DKPD.I just hope he knows that we have a morale issue and we are behind 10 years in law enforcement technilogy. Ooh yeah can we bring back the Black cats, task force or some kind of anti- crime jump out unit. These perps have enough nerves to sell dope on the corners of our streets and wave at the officers when they drive by on the way to calls.

Haven't heard about the Black Cats in a while! That's real old school. Hopefully it works for the best

I don't know about this. I think one time I saw him throw a soda can in the trash when there was a recycling bin nearby.

But seriously, good choice. Take that Ellis doubters!

I worked will Bill O'Brien when we were both patrolmen at South Precinct. We couldn't have dreamed up a better choice. He is everything that the last 4 chiefs were not: intelligent, fair, very professional and above all, ONE OF US!!! Hopefully we can keep him.

Why can't we take some of the proactive officers from each ICP,NET TEAM and PRECINCTS. Take a basic physical agility test, give them some classes on open air drug activity and crime suppression. Put some bdu,s and boots on them so they can clean up this county.Oh yeah we need some hardworking Sgts and a Major who can handle the complaints.summer is around the corner. That's how u reduce crime

He is the best man for the job, a true professional in every aspect.
We are starting to see daylight with this leader in place.

Thank you CEO Ellis, from everyone who cares about this department.
You have more support than you will ever know about from the rank and file.

Happy with the choice as well, and for all the APD guys/gals I cant say anything bad about them, can you blame them, a new Chief of DeKalb County brought them in wrongfully agreed, but if you were them do you blame them?

Okay and Chief Waddleton, at least she was promoted from rank to rank, did her time here, and doesnt have a 2700 badge #.

I don't know if the Acting Chief reads this or not, but simply put...

Congratulations!

I believe the rank and file are pleased and happy to have you at the top.

Let's hope it's for an extended period of time.

CEO Ellis, you hit a home run!

You hope he's aware we have a morale problem? Are you serious? A/C O'Brien has been promoted, demoted and promoted under TeBo's rule. I'm sure he is quite clear on morale problems but I have to wonder just how much he will be allowed to do.

Personally I can't think of better choice, he's smart, fair and has worked uniform, CID, IA and was honestly promoted. Great choice, I only hope Ellis is smart enough to make it permanent.

Slamin Ethel wants everyone to know there could not be a better choice thank you thank you thank you.
Bill is one the most honorable person I know around this place my morale just shot up 100%.
He has indeed worked his way up the ladder and yes I too worked with him as well, great guy.
Bill if you happin to read this thank you and please do all you can to keep the position.
THANK GOD I SEE THE LIGHT.

Finally, some good news!!!!! Bill is a good man and a straight-shooter! I hope that he will receive the tremendous amount of support that will be needed in order to repair the damage caused by the last two buffoons.

I think whoever is in charge needs to consentrate on the big problems first. Uniform and car color are far down the list. I'm very sure everyone knows there is a severe morale problem. Let's give Mr. Ellis and whoever ends up in permanent charge a chance to breathe.

You know what Google has to say about O'Brien? NOTHING! No terminations, no law suits, no lengthy list of bad doings in another city, NOTHING. Thank you CEO Ellis! Congratulations O'Brien, it seems you have endless respect and support.

Congratulations to Chief O'Brien. I wish the appointment was permanent but that would make too much sense. I've got a feeling that he'll only be chief until the whole Bolton saga is completed then a new chief will be named. Chief O'Brien is definately qualified for the position and that we'll be the reason he is not ultimately picked. :)

This is a good day for the county and the department. Just remember that it took years to get where we are now and it can't all be fixed in 2 weeks. But what an amazing department it could be with officers that support a chief who in turn understands his duty is to enforce the laws and policies of his office, not for political and finacial gain.

Thank You Jesus. Let's all pray that he becomes the Chief. We need Chief O'Brien to turn this Department around. He is the leader that can do it. Just check out the emails they are happy ones for a change. The officers of this department deserves to smile again.

WOW! I feel like I just got a shot of morale booster. What a perfect choice in Acting Chief. Bill O'Brien was an outstanding Officer, awesome supervisor, and he is by far an Officers Officer. He knows how to Police and he doesn't let a position or title go to his head. He has never changed. I hope and pray that CEO Ellis makes O'Brien the Chief of Police. O'Brien can restore this place to it's once greatness and best of all Officers will follow that guy anywhere under any circumstances.
Thank you CEO Ellis and congratulations to Major O'Brien. In my opinion you are the right man for the job. God Bless this department.

Acting Chief O'Brien you have my full support! You lead and we'll follow.

Did someone say Black Cats! Oh, hell yeah. Lets call the Black Cats out of retirement and turn them loose in the streets of DeKalb. We need a hard nosed, butt kicking, no nonsense team that when the perps see them they will immediately start running. They will reduce crime my friends. Remember the good ole days when we actually fought crime and didn't just sit around and wait for it to happen so that we could go and take the report. That was great.
