Now THAT is good journalism!
Simpson and the AJC could use some journalism lessons as seen with this story. Channel 46 appears to be pursuing the story they lost to Dale Russell and Fox5. I notice Vernon is on vacation or something, no comments from Vern!
I have retired from the Dept...thank you Lord. I did admin work for years for this group. Regarding the FMLA - you have to fill out A LOT of paper and REQUEST to be on FMLA - with a small forest of paper as documentation. However, it is submitted by your Supervisor (in this case, Ellis) to the Human Resource Director (who is that these days?) who then ascertains whether or not the individual is elligble and has exhausted all leave BEFORE FMLA begins. Your ae not automatically put on FMLA without the documentation - that would be a federal violation. You're telling me that all that happened so quickly - AND, Ellis signed off on this? I don't think so....miss you guys, take care.
I agree with the admin officer. I was in a Command Level position with the Department until I retired (thank god) and FMLA is no easy submission. Besides, all of the stuff that happened, happened before the supposed FMLA was submitted, so terminating while on supposed FMLA is perfectly legal.
