Sorry to see this reported in the AJC. I know Keith from a operational position and had him pegged as straight up. I do not know the PB officer by name or sight. But would probably recognize her image if published. I strongly advise that DeKalb employees retain their core ethics and never give in unscrupulous offers. Not every time will a corrupt design be sighted or investigated, but enough are, and you know with government, high profile cases will be crushed, as should be.
I will discuss this story with my co-workers tomorrow and hope they will be enlightened and they will learn the lesson Keith did not understand.

DeKalb Police Officers work their butts off and risk their lives writing thousands of citations so Recorders Court employees can line their pockets by fixing tickets. They have also lost thousands of citations because they are incompetent and in some cases they are just plain stealing the money. Our Narcotics Detectives work their butts off and risk their lives to seize millions of dollars and vehicles so that Bolton can waste the money on ridiculous purchases and park high end seized vehicles in his personal garage and use them for personal use.
And now we read this story of criminal DeKalb County employees taking bribes to put drug dealers back on the street. Again DeKalb Police Officers worked their butts off and risked their lives to arrest drug dealers only to have low character idiots take bribes to put them right back on the street with no punishment at all. And by the way, for any police officers who are caught stealing, you are at least as bad if not worse than the above!
If you want to be a police officer or work in the judicial system then do it and serve with honor. And if you want to be a criminal thug, then do it. BUT YOU CAN NOT DO BOTH!

WOW, someone's looking into the bravo sierra going on in recorders court. Next up, where'd that pesky $120 million go?

I've learned the hard way that ethics and high standards are not be tolerated in Dekalb. If you are a person of standards and morals, you will be shunned and punished.

Unfortunately, this story doesn't surprise me.

RECORDERS COURT. why should we write tickets when incompetence and crookery rule the roost. What's the point? Risk my life pulling over a thug for nothing. Don't think so.I hope the FBI is on this case too. And I want to know. WHAT HAPPENED TO MY GREAT DEKALB COUNTY? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED ?

I can only believe that more people are involved in this corruption probe. Whatever happen to the court administrator who was transfer to Bolton office? I wonder why he was moved and not fired. I heard rumors that Jones and Bolton wanted this investigation to go away. Rumors said a lawyer in Decatur made referral to have tickets fixed. I think some court employees were arrested last year for that too.

Well well well, it would appear that someone has fattened thier wallets once more.
But to be honest did anyone really think for a minute that it wasent happening.
One can only sit back and ponder just how fat ol VJ's bank account is, menawhile while he is living and flying, im digging and dying.
I cant wait to see what comes out of Recorders court, im told that the detectives were pulled from the case because they were doing thier jobs and uncovering the truth (kudos for Det Oak).
So lets throw a monkey wrench into the mix and slow things down.
I wish I had somthing wise to say but nothing is coming to mind, think I'll go eat a samich!

What ever happened to the DeKalb County Grand Juries that were routinely empaneled and assigned various tasks of investigating and auditing various county functions overall and individually a decade ago. County Grand Juries are the responsibility of the D.A.s office, and D.A. Gwen Keyes is Vern's "friend in the county legal investigation" of numerous legal anomalies business. Even under J. Thom the Grand Juries investigations of county functions was curtailed. It is time to air the dirty laundry and DA Keyes is apparently a willing participant in Vern's and the counties journey through OZ. There are serious issues with DeKalb government that need to be addressed but will not due to the DeKalb's DA's lack of leadership. C'mon Gwen, help us out here! Vern's gone and we need to clean up the mess!

I think that people just don't care anymore. Bolton will drag his case thru the courts and drain the DeKalb County revenue for the next 4 years (if we're lucky it will be only 4 years), Recorders Court issues seem to be just hanging out there, now this mess with the DeKalb Pre-trail...all DA Keyes needs to do is read the newspaper to figure out what her next investigation needs to be. Did I miss something? Are we taking lessons on government from Louisiana? Chicago? NEW YORK? What bothers me is that the citizens are just taking this mess...they need to get off their butts and start screaming for blood...or this mess will NEVER get taken care of...John Q. Public...listen to me - a police officer who puts his/her life on the line to uphold law and order so that YOU can sleep safely at night will soon lose interest if the system is so corrupt that it protects the thugs...and not its citizens. This mess is NOT in the hands of the police...the responsibility lies with the citizens who vote these bozos into office.
