This Could Be You!

We here at DeKalb Officers Speak are supporting former DeKalb County Police Officer Torrey Thompson. We hope that you will join us. In the right side column is a link to his legal defense fund. Please donate generously.

This could happen to anyone of us on any given watch.

God speed.

While Thompson does deserve the support I'm not sure LELDF is the way to go about it. In 2000 only 7.5 cents of each dollar went to support officers. In 2004 the amount went up to 18 cents. Their overhead seems to be high. I don't have a problem supporting an officer but do have a problem with people leeching off a good cause. Maybe a fund just for Thompson set up locally.

Wow! I'm. Impressed. I really thought this blog was becoming racist. You all really care ab out police in Dekalb County

Thanks to political corretness and cases like this, many officers now are going to be more afraid to use force during pursuits such as this. There should be no apologies, this guy was a criminal in pursuit and officers did what they had to do to take him down. This wasn't no traffic stop gone wrong, mistaken identity or even sloppy police work (hello APD). Innocent people don't run nor hide. Looks like Dekalb County courts system is doing what is does best, CODDLE CRIMINALS. I now see why many police officers always tell me the true problem lies with the justice system when it comes to criminals. I've been told by many officers, "Hey we make the arrest but the Sheriff lets them back out citing jail overcrowding, the prosecutors plea or drop the ball, judges want to be so compassionate, the criminal returns back to the hood and cycle repeats."

Where was Bolton's leadership during the annoucement of this indictment? Did he issue another press release from Texas? Was he on comp time because he had an ingrown toenail? When Barker and Bryant got killed, he was acting like he was oh so concerned about the rank and file.

How can someone call this Blog racist when you don't even know the race of those people running it or posting on it? Sounds like someone needs to turn that deep intropection back on themselves and figure out why they are so angry. Also why they find it so easy to blame everyone else for their problems and not take self responsibility.

Hold on a minute. We are losing track here. This is turning into racism instead of figuring out how to set up a defense/donation fund for T. Thompson. He needs us now more than ever. We can't turn our backs on him now. He put his life on the line. Let's figure out what we can do - and do it. Maybe even contact Attorney Atkins and send donations directly to him. Attorneys have escrow, client funds, etc. etc. and have to keep accountings. Let's do something and do it now. Car Wash, Road Side Stand, whatever it takes.

Gwen Keyes has time to go after a good officer in fear for his life, trying to arrest a worthless, armed robbery suspect, but she doesn't have time to do anything about the money missing from Recorder's Court. You're doing a great job, Gwen! :-/
