The situation in South Precinct has been investigated and the chips have fallen. It is no longer just a rumor so I feel officers are free to talk about it and blog about it. I hate to see people get fired or demoted but the conduct exhibited by those officers is clearly way out of bounds and can not be tolerated.

The situation in North Precinct involving the sergeant being in Gwinnett County is an ongoing investigation so his name should be left off of this blog until the facts are determined. Accusations are often false and the facts can be twisted. For example, the AJC article says that Sgt. Walter West is the sergeant who is being investigated for the incident on video tape in Gwinnett County. Unless West turned into a white guy and was working North Precinct instead of South Precinct that is not him! I do know for a fact that the person who filed the complaint is a Sandy Springs supervisor. He has some serious issues so I would take anything he says with a large grain of salt.

Dekalb has seen a large number of Officer Misconduct over the past few years. I wonder if it comes from the need to bring up the numbers. I'm not pointing fingers at recruitment, but I wonder if some criminal records are being overlooked to bring up the numbers. Sad to say but I think some perps have slid under the radar.
