We stand with the fireman who have been placed on paid leave while the investigation is on going.
With all our dealings with the fire department, they have acted with nothing but integrity and professionalism. On fire calls or accident with injuries calls, we joke among ourselves about how serious they take their job. Thank goodness they do take their job so serious. Because when one of us in trapped in a car accident or laying on the cold ground with a gunshot wound, they will be there doing the very best they can to save us, just as they do the general public.
While we may run blue lights and sirens to a fight or shots fired call, the fine men and women of the fire department run into a burning building. God bless them.
As for the unfortunate incident in Dunwoody, we smell a cover up coming from the 5th floor and Decatur. If we are wrong we will say so. We just pray these fire fighters will not be made sacrificial lambs.
UPDATE: Looks like we were wrong. But we still feel for these fireman.

I believe you owe 911 an aplogy.
What this should lead to is a reassessment of the visibility of addresses..also lets look into the fact that officers cannot access certain private complexes.. instead of just using this to slap around some good career people..lets learn from this and improve the visibility of the addresses and access to all of the complexes....
Anon #2, for your information and since you bring it up, access to complexes is never an issue for the fire department. Remember, they have keys to the fire boxes at the gates. PD does not.
I agree with you regarding visibility of addresses. But, it is already required by county ordinance. So, as an officer on patrol, if you see the violation, issue the summons to resolve this issue.
I like our fire and rescue personnel. I believe they do their job well. Unfortunately, it appears from news reports that these firefighters neglected to due their duty. It's just really sad for all involved.
To the family of the victim, I have to admire how they are handling this matter. Though they certainly appear to have grounds for a civil claim, my impression is that perhaps they might not. It looks like the apology they seek will mean a lot to them.
I will leave it at that and keep the family of the victim and these firefighters and their families in my thoughts and prayers. Again, it is just terribly sad and painful for all involved.

From Anon #3 to Anon #4, I am suggesting that we can enforce it. It is not something that has to be left up to Code Enforcement. Remember, before there was Code Enforcement, we were the enforcers of the county code and we still are.
If you see a violation, do your job and enforce it. Just do your job. That's all. Take responsibility. Come on now, it's that simple.

Half of the posters on this blog that are talking about tickets for improper address markings are probably the same "senior" officers that are refusing to do traffic stops because we are not getting raises, got news for you....part of your job is TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT! Find another way to keep the Sergeants off your backs people.
