Wellll, a little birdie told me the Dek unit was not a rookie; a seasoned officer at that. My bet is: 80 hours suspension. I truly hope he dosen't get terminated (yikes)

News flash donuts if a GSP wants your car he will take it. What are you going to do. Shot him. LOL It appears that Dekalb cancelled its officers in the chase so GSP had to do the work. Know the fact terds before you commit. The state will just replace the worn out Dekalb car. You guys should all do the same. LOL Atleast the itiot got caught. The question should be why does Dekalb not continue the chase and stop letting GSP do the work for them.
Stay safe out there Bull

Your big brother

Why shouldnt he offer up his car to the trooper. Atleast the trooper could continue the chase

Anonymous said...

Brother, write this: I obeyed the instructions from my supervisor to break off the pursuit. I then provided material support to an officer from a fellow agency who was in need of assistance. Then reference mutual aid section of policy..cross your fingers and promise never to do it again.

Anonymous said...

At least he supported a fellow officer.Everyone else would say to abandon him and let him defend himself. Instead he gave him the support that he needed. My hat is off to that officer. He made a good decision, when we were call off the chase and a lone trooper was by himself. Would you want to be ALONE?

Anonymous said...

Wow..... So, the officer discontinued the pursuit per his orders and policy. I may have to go looking through the policy, but I can't think of anywhere that I have ever read or heard that you couldn't render needed assistance to another officer so he could do his job. AWESOME!!! Good work!

GSP 73'd one of our units!! What would have happened if the roles had been reversed?!

Anonymous said...

This job "aint" an exact science, you have to make judgement calls. In the end his goal was protecting GSP so the Troop could back up another Trooper, and catch a bad guy. Go easy on him gentlemen, he is one of us. Little discipline he will be as good as new. Stay safe bros.

Where did the DKPD officer go. Did he sit on the disabled GSP unit having a donut or?
Did the AJC reporter ask?
We trained to "never give up your firearm." didn't say anything about giving up your patrol vehicle.
I got an idea! Let's all you whiz kids get together and solve the David Corn homicide!

The fact that you are G.S.P. is not germane to the situation.

THE DAMN GERMANS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!

There’s no way, NO WAY that you came from my loins. Soon as I get home, first thing I’m gonna do is punch yo momma in the mouth!

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY makes Sheriff Buford T. Justice look like a possum’s pecker!

The South Ofc. should have driven the GSP car flat tire and all. Would have made it a better story.

He did what he though was the best solution to another officer that was putting his life at risk.

I give him credit , he was thinking of backing up another officer instead of how many days would I be suspended. You are my HERO.

I agree with the last Anon. poster: he made a tough call in a tight spot. Granted, he didn't call Whittington to ask Dedrick who would then have to check with Kliesrath. He made a decision all on his own, under a set of rules that are wrong to start with. He is good-to-go.

I am sure many of you have seen the police pursuit that took place a few years ago up in Montana that crossed over into Idaho. The one where police are in pursuit of a Ford Taurus with an armed man. That is a good example of cops cooperating cops, no matter the uniforms or policies, to achieve a legitimate law enforcement objective. The perp slammed on his brakes causing the lead pursuing officer to run into the back of the perp's car which disabled the police car. Shootout follows. Then, lead officer gets into back-up officers car when the perp flees again and the chase resumes. Then, the final ramming by that second officer into the perps car when the perp stopped again and started to open fire on them.

You just can't fault or punish officers making these kinds of split-second decisions when it comes to protecting their own and getting the job done.

So, the DeKalb police car sustained some damage (I guess - news video angle of perp car into DeKalb car). Police work isn't always pretty. It's a piece of equipment in a tough work environment. Shit happens.

I think this was a job well done.

Some of you guys seem to be able to rationalize almost anything. No matter what someone does you defend them and claim they had a good reason for doing what they did. We caught the bad guy so NO MATTER what we did to catch him it is justified.

Damn the rules, damn the policy and damn the 4th amendment. Some of you guys think that this is the way to operate and you defend each other and even think it’s funny. Common sense has almost completely left us. Of course it is always funny until the next officer is fired or arrested. Which, by the way, the firings and arrests of police officers are occurring at a rate like never before in the history of this department.

The TRUTH is that most of you do not even know what happened with this case involving GSP. You are just making things up and defending the officer regardless of the facts. There are a lot of issues regarding this incident that you guys just want to ignore. The firings and arrests will continue if common sense does not become more common.

The main thing is that the officer did what he needed to to catch a POS crook. He should be promoted and given an award for maning up and taking care of the citizens of Dekalb County. The bottom line is he stepped up and most of the others are scared to.

You guys cant chase anymore? Man times have changed at S Pct and DKPD. We used to have some good ones back in the late 80's.
