City of Dunwoody & Dekalb 911. Wiz Miller Stands Behind Our Horrendous System

The core of the problem is not necessarily the system itself. The core of the problem is the sheer volume of non-emergency calls coming into the 911 centers and being dispatched to police/fire. Counties and cities should be actively reeducating the public on the use of 911 and emergency services.

Dunwoody hasn't lost anything since they ran like hell from the county. The only thing they may have lost would be the migraines that come with DeKalb County and all it's corrupt bulls*&t. Stand behind it all you want Wiz, when it comes crashing down I hope it takes you out with it.

Good bye Dunwoody!!!! We didnt want you on our channel anyway, you don't even use our phonetics,we had to change how WE dispatch because you ALL didn't learn OUR signals! By the way your city is in DeKalb County so will still need our Fire and Ambulance services...that's who you have the issue with..so your precious residents will still be transferred to us to get fire/ems started..we can only answer one call at a time...You think about how many people live and pass thru DeKalb, we have 4 major interstates people from all over pass thru,do you honestly think we have enough operators for that? Get your head out of lala land this is the real world Sir!!!

not to beat a dead horse..but the address was given to the fireman on that dunwoody call...address and house on fire...how is that a break down in communications...they had the address and report of a fire.we need a new cad system...that would really help 90 percent of the problem

ANON#1 Not to mention all the false alrms,non-emergency phones we give out to the jail and for other counties..people are not taking the time to look in phone books, internet,or the back of their ticket to get the info they need..hey I'l just dial 911..even EMS/FIRE calls..I would never call for some of the stuff the citizens call for..ie toothache, headache, stomach pains, big toe stubbed..soo yeah that is why calls are "holding"..not too mention the CAD runs slow..

How in the world can anyone blame Dunwoody for wanting to provide better services across the board? What the hell has happened that people get mad about that. That is what government SHOULD do, this isnt personal, but it is the right kind of leadership and direction that government should provide. What does anyone expect wiz to do or say? He is completely out of his league, not that he isnt an accomplished person, but not in the broad areas of public safety. DUH! That has been obvious from the start. and ellis has given him a free pass, ellis NEVER holds him accountable, which is why wiz provides perks like 24 hour police protection on the County's dime.

Ima Dunwoody Citizen -
"Precious residents" ?????? Everyone on this blog seems to have lots of legitimate complaints about Dekalb County - what we did was take matters into our own hands to create a safer, easier, and more pleasurable daily existence!! And I tell you what honeypie, I'm enjoying the HELL out of the difference.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO when is it the calltaker and dispatchers fault that they "refuse" to transport lil Timmy who wasnt having an asthma attack?? While Timmy gets transported.. Granny with a cardiac arrest is waiting b/c timmy just wanted to ride in an ambulance..BUTTTTTTTTT that's OUR fault too right?

To Anon#7: We are not mad that they want to go..GO and be happy!!! Our issue is they don't have to beat us down, talk crap about us to the media to make their point of wanting their own dispatchers. It could be the media's spin on wording "911 System".."911 Dispatcher's" 911 Rescuers, however they say it,it is as if it is the operator's and that is just NOT correct. We dispatch per our protocols,we have nothing to do w/fire personnel not getting off the truck, ems not transporting patients. We want the record straight that it is RESPONDERS>DRIVING>GOING TO= THE LOCATION..not the people that answer the phones when you call for help.
