This blog page was established so DeKalb County Police Officers including their family and friends may have a place to hold discussions, post news and vent without fear of retribution.
Kudos to this officer for stepping up to assist a citizen in need. Remember as officers, there is really no clock in, clock out time. These are types of stories I like reading.
thank God the officer will be alright and thank God for the citizens who came to his rescue that shows law enforcement that we do still good people who are welling to help out.
APD Command says Officer Roach was likely saved not only by his vest but the aid of a passerby who used his SUV to push the suspect off the wounded officer. The Passerby (Donald Melvin) is the father of a Dekalb Police Sgt. Heroism runs in the family I guess!
I sure hope he wasent some dumb rookie listen to his radio on the way home. Turn it off when your 10-42, no need in dying when your off duty. You risk your life enough when you are at work why make it worse. Now on the other hand if he was standing in the chicken line trying to get a 10 piece, I understand his actions. Other than that theres no excuse!
Hey Wise Guy- What if that was your wife about to be 67'ed by some perp...I bet you would want an officer to help her whether or not they were on duty right....how bout you have a nice glass of shut the %^&* up! You probably should have taken the early out with the rest of the senior citizens...oh wait I guess you didn't have enough time which means your a rookie in some respect yourself.
To "Wise Guy", it is sickeningto know that we have officers that think as you do. You are the kind who will be terminated for something because it obvious that you are not hear for the citizens.
