All fine and dandy, but I haven't seen blue orders filling those positions.

Guess this Friday, the end of the pay period, will be telling. If the county intends to fill those positions, there should be a big blue order in the box.

The other option... that thing they call the rank of corporal: someone who does the work of an Sgt for little or no extra pay. That will free up the Sgts to do the work of the lost Lt.'s.

Haagh! This was the usual blow-off letter that clueless political staffs send out.

I still find the early retirement incentive logic difficult to understand. My opinion is that the BOC did not want to lay off employees for political reasons (because they sure as hell are not friends of the employees) and are clueless on how to make the cuts and layoffs. The GSU study is buried and has not been published by DeKalb officials indicating they are even more clueless than we suspected.
It appears that several of the Pension board might have voted for the retirement plan for their personal benefit.
The DeKalb BOC is clueless on the deep anger of DeKalb employees over the shoddy treatment of employees over the last decade. No raises, not cost of living increases, and no fracken' dialogue between employees and the BOC. The BOC despises rank and file employees as incompetent, under-worked and over-paid. That is probably true with the BOC and CEO's offices. But not with the majority of professionals that make the county work.
Personally I burned out two years ago and the retirement incentive was a Godsend.
Best of luck, mates!

I agree there was no preparation in filling Public Safety vacancies. The 911 Communications lost 11 key employees. 2 Watch Commanders, 3 Supervisors, & 6 Sr Operators. The ability to replace these people is going to be difficult.

Sleeze balls everywhere. We need our own watch dog on the pension. These assholes are all in it for themselves. I think you are correct Mr Low Flyer !! This is very dangerous for our pension. Stupidity and self service is rampant !

From LoFlyer...."It appears that several of the Pension board might have voted for the retirement plan for their personal benefit".

Anon6, here is what I know, employee J was worried about her possible pension benefits. I pointed her to this site because it had the latest and best documentation on the proposed pension plan. She then Contacted Mr. Butler by phone and discussed the various options. Mr. Butler indicated he would vote for the plan that included him and would provide the best retirement incentives.
This is all hearsay.
Employee J. does not normally look into this blog, but if she does, I would appreciate her insights.

Best of luck, mates!
