U.S. Police Fatalities Increase 43 Percent

Police fatalities are up 43 percent for the year. If this trend continues, 2010 will be one of the deadliest for police officers in 20 years. 3 Chicago police officers have been gunned down in the past 2 months.

Shelia Edwards is serving as the spokeswoman for the family of the Gwinnett man shot and killed by police in NJ. The man is accused of soliciting sex from an undercover male police officer. What's Shelia's connection to this?

Maybe shes looking for a new line of work!

She is? That isn't right. There isn't some kind of rule against that? There's all kinds of rules as to what kind of jobs we, as police officers, can take off duty. Hell, we have to get department approval if we want to deliver pizzas on our off days.

This isn't a conflict of interest, but it doesn't look good at all. It reminds me of the recent news story about one of the top GBI Forensic Scientists getting paid to be an expert witness for the defense in other states, like Mississippi and Alabama.
