Burrell Ellis Should Resign. Criminal Investigation Warranted

It gets to the point where you literally want to throw up. We are being furloughed because the county claims there is not enough money to pay us, yet Burrell Ellis hands out hush money and car payments.

We are sick of all the excuses of "having to make bad decisions", "we made a mistake", "we're only human".

Just think folks, the commissioners tried balancing the budget on the backs of public safety by forcing us to work holidays for no pay. Only until we stood up and said enough is enough with a ticket slowdown.

But it keeps coming. The commissioners can find all this money for themselves, their staff, their retired staff and their terminated staff. And now this.

Burrell Ellis and the commissioners have ruined the morale of the police department to the point where it may not be recoverable. And looming over the horizon is 12 hour shifts, disrupting our lives even further.

Makes you wonder if all this is intentional. Do they want to see the county in complete chaos? If the county is bankrupted, with a decayed public safety department, it can have far reaching implications.

Mr. C.E.O., resign for the good of the citizenry!

He has his own driver and gas guzzling Tahoe for transportation.

He needs a Chevy Impala to ride around in the county. This would save money. Hell take all the cars away from everyone.

The thing that amazed me the most about this story was Sheila Edwards' picture. Who did that airbrush job on her?? She looked about 20 years younger in that pic! That's remarkable!

It's time to contact the State Representatives about these "lavish payouts", and it should be investigated by the highest authority (i.e. Congress).

I don't think Vernon ever left, just became smaller.

I don't know how either Burrell Ellis or anyone on the BOC can look at themsleves in the mirror. Its not going to end any time soon either because the good ol' Dekalb County citizens keep voting them into office.

It’s time for the FOP and PBA to call the State Attorney General’s office and if necessary the Governor’s office and demand an investigation into public corruption, misappropriation of public funds. Interesting reading, Google (Bell city corruption), Bell city is in California. Eight city officials were arrested for the above and other offenses and are going to be prosecuted by Attorney General Jerry Brown of California. AG Jerry Brown has also filed civil law suits against these officials to try and recover the public money.
And by the way if anyone still hasn’t figured out why they do what they do, it’s real simple, I’ll explain, (Redistribution of Wealth). They use public office to redistribute the public money to themselves and their friends. It’s what Socialists do.

Amen, any citizens that read this you need to put the word out calling for resignation also. I have never seen any administration gut, ruin, demoralized, etc. a gov't the way this one has. Come on feds this one could take a while to sort out. Thank you media for at least staying on this, too bad they don't care. The biggest threat to the people of dekalb county is their elected officials. Keep your dinner commissioners, maybe you and your staff will choke on it. I don't know how many times you guys are going to slap us in the face.

For the lavish dinner, I want to know who is going to benefit financially from the lavish dinner. Whose buddy is this and how much of the County's money is going to this crap?!

I'm just totally blown away by all this. I am retired - however, nothing under Manuel Maloof, Liane Levitan - and maybe even Vermin - compares with how blatant Ellis is about throwing money away. All three took care of their buddies - but - for crying out loud - not so "in your face" and with such arrogance. I know Ellis ran for office as the one to make changes in what was supposed to have been a corrupt system - but, boy - did he fool us!

Adding insult to injury just heard that Sheila Edwards received an extra $4000.00 payment for her vehicle expense. How many of us received a vehicle reimbursement? Oh that's right they give me a patrol car with 140,000 miles on it. This lady should have never been employed much less paid to quit. Every time you reach for that long form think of these people. Keep educating the citizens on who they actually need protection from within this county. DAMMIT Ellis how crooked can you get? You have made Clayton County smile.

CBS46 should look into her salary history. How much money was she making at her last job? Was she making anywhere near the salary she made working for DeKalb? If the private sector wouldn't pay her that much, why did DeKalb County? Let's see how much money she makes when her hush money runs out in a few months and she finds another job.

I got my furlough days now in the worst season it time to do something drastic. Look at Chicago police hundreds of officers marched and asking for resignation of the top official. We now need to do the same asking for Ellis resignation or be charged for misuse of county funds and also ask for his so called rehired employees because they are his buddies be asked to resign.

Guy and gals they didn't GIVE us shit with the change to furlough days...They found out the other way was illegal...go figure.

Tell me I heard wrong from my buddy in the marshal's that the state court employees aren't scheduling furlough days. If this is true, or I'm 10-42 with DeKalb.

Want to talk about more compensation for resigning or how do we say "hush money". The previous fire chief David Foster received $84,000 as severance pay when he resigned. The county has tried to keep quiet but recently they settled his civil suit and paid him additional $95,000. This was direct hush money to prevent him from speaking in court as to the truth surrounding the facts regarding his resignation. The word is that he had to agree not to testify against the county in future litigation. Sound like they might want to hide something! Like maybe politically motivated firings of his personnel.
