Housing Authority Has Have Opportunity To Do The Right Thing

Soon, the HADC commissioners will decide on an executive director for the dysfunctional housing authority.

The housing authority is already under a microscope for it's misappropriation of 2.5 million dollars and other questionable dealings.

The HADC commissioners have the opportunity to name one of two (2) very well qualified people who are from the "outside" with proven track records. Or they can choose Eugene P. "Pete" Walker Jr., who is encompassed with controversy, which includes current business contracts with the housing authority.

Working in Walker's favor is that his father, Eugene Walker, is a former State Senator representing DeKalb County, a former member of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles and now serves on the school board.

And we all know how corrupt the school board is.

DeKalb County will be more politically corrupt if the voters continue to elect politicians instead of public servants. The majority of the voters continue to elect “do nothing” politicians. Corruption and greed is the fashion of the day in DeKalb County. The status quo rules!

First of all, over 2.5 million dollars is missing! Where did the money go? It does not take a genius to figure out that someone is stealing from this agency. We need to stop the bleeding by demanding these people go to “Damn Jail”! We need to forget the ethics committee and call in the feds. I personally believe the amount of 2.5 million dollars would justify a felony record and jail time. What do you think?

Vernon Jones went into the housing authority and split the two agencies. He loaded the board with people who did not know what they were doing or what oversight means. We thought CEO Burrell Ellis would improve things; but, we were deceived! Walker is the least qualified person to head this troubled agency. If they hire Walker, you better know that the amount of corruption in this agency will increase as well as continue.

There are a number of things wrong with the DeKalb Housing Authority. When will the people who are responsible for stealing the money go to jail? How many of them will be elected officials or friends/family of the elected officials?
