Gee Thanks!!!!
CEO just left ctr precinct. Morale definitely down. Hope he enjoys going home to eat his BBQ safely while I work for an 10% decrease and miss spending time with my family. I think I'm going to have a real rookie moment and forget my Georgia codes on accidents (just couldn't figure out who was at fault and I don't want to be in a dispute today). Every1 be safe. I'm on plan b.
DeKalb is in the news every day for some bullshit the Commissioners and Ellis have done. If they haven't made any changes by now, they aren't going to. The only way for a real difference to be made is for the DA's office to investigate them and lock someone up. Why did they stop after they were done with the school system investigation?
Morale, what do they care? Now 12 hour shift to cover the loss of recruiting police officers.
Who going to come here with the current benefits and the future of 12 hour shifts?
November is really going to SUCK!!!
Yup.....it was a productive day. I brought in plenty of stats; however, they didn't generate a dime for Dekalb. They were still tickets and arrests. No one can accuse me of not doing my job. I'm still being a professional.
I understand the Center officers sat slack-jawed when Ellis visited roll call. Boys and girls--that was your chance. Talk a big game, but when it comes down to it you will just take it and not speak up.
CEO Burrell Ellis gave away approximately $150,000 to two people on his executive staff. How much would it cost to pay the policemen and firemen who work on holidays? How does that cost compare to the severance money CEO Burrell Ellis gave away in less than two weeks to one person that quit voluntarily and another that was fired?
As a property owner, taxpayer and voter, I want to support our public safety. Unfortunately writing letters, emails, and making phone calls have not touched our CEO and BOC. They possess an arrogance that bypasses common sense. Do you have any suggestions that are on the level of your “ticket boycott”?
I support the “ticket boycott” as a private citizen. I know this may cost us more money next year; however, I do not support cutting police, fire, and teachers every time our elected officials waste taxpayer’s money. I am tired of our public safety having to suffer the most while our elected officials such as the CEO and BOC continue to waste our tax money on people like Edwards and Barker.
Question for the Chief.. If you take away the 4-3 what incentive do you have left to recruit officers to come work here? Im all ears!
If the CEO and the BOC want to fix things they need to quit because it is apparent that you all cant fix a problem you made
What DeKalb citizens need to do is vote Burrell Ellis out of office plain and simple.
DeKalb Citizens,
Before you have your opportunity to vote Burrell Ellis and as far as I'm concerned the rest of the commission, what you CAN DO NOW for those of you who are able is attend the meetings on Tuesday mornings at 10:00am in the auditorium of the Manual Maloof building in downtown Decatur. It is located at 1300 Commerce Dr. When the opportunity arises for public comment, do so. Express your disgust to Burrell Ellis and the Board of Commissioners regarding how they are treating not only us, but also you regarding your public safety. Tell them that public safety is the root, the foundation, of all else that can succeed here in DeKalb County. You are losing your public safety because not only do we not feel appreciated but frankly used and abused. We did choose to come work here, yes. We also expected the county to uphold its end of the agreement for our services to pay us fair wage and benefits. When we have been asked to produce, produce more, and produce further still, we complied. But the more we have given, the more has been taken from us.
DeKalb citizens, we are and will be there for you. Please be there for us. Speak out! And vote the current government leaders out and vote competent leaders in at the next opportunity. Look careful and deep at each candidate. Vote for the best, no matter what they look like (sex, race, creed, etc), just vote for the best. Not only does our future depend on it, but so does yours.
Sincerely,
A DeKalb officer who has been around awhile
