Heard a rumor..can yall confirm that the county is looking at 17 furlough days next year..but yet hands out severance money like its candy...

The county will not furlough us. They will simply make us work for no pay. Look how well it's working for the commissioners now.

The officers are too afraid or stupid to stand up for themselves. As long as we bend over and take it dry, the county will keep sticking it to us.

The fire chief got what? $99,000. Edwards got what? $45,000. Now Barker gets $100,000!!

Isn't it ridiculous?

Wow....over $140,000 paid out to people who quit or were fired for cause.

I faithfully show up on time and do my job..... but take home less each year.

Yeah, I'm definitely inclined to write more than the occasional ticket to someone who doesn't know when to shut up.

Just saw the video of a news conference or announcement by Burrell Ellis regarding Keith Barker. I guess he "misspoke" when he mentioned resignation before correcting it to termination. And Ellis referring in context to the termination as not in keeping with DeKalb County's standards and/or ethics. Are you shitting me?! You need to look in the mirror dumbass Ellis. You have no credibility as far as I'm concerned anyway to judge anyone anymore.

Regarding Keith Barker's severence, well, it was indeed in his contract and this act by him did not disqualify him from receiving it. I guess that was a smart move on his part. I wish I had done that when I was hired. Stupid me.

Anyway, let's take a look at the net result of Keith Barker's termination, Sheila Edwards resignation, and Gwen Keyes-Flemings resignation....More money back in the system for payroll and benefits in my interpretation and I'm estimating to the tune of about $500,000. We (all of us employees) won't see it though.

By no menas am I a fan of Barker's. So, does the involved female not raise any eyebrows? She initiated the relationship with someone in the County who could get her a better paying job. When the job did not happen, she cried party foul. She is a grown azz woman and seems to take no responsibility at all.

The warnings will keep being issued.

A coincidence of time? The GM deal (quietly) failed AGAIN behind the scenes yesterday.

Gwen Keyes appointed to another job that she is clearly not qualified for by President Obama, yesterday.

County that administration that looks like a turd circling the bowl has now lost some good, smart folks. Like him or not, Barker was smart. Like him or not, Bell was smart. Like her or not......Gwen was not.

Let's see who comes into the mix here. The BOC and Burrell could not be more at odds, and all of the smart folks and all of the adults are gone.

Your taxes at work. Look at the records of those still close to Burrell...the most corrupt, Clayton County, here we become!

Man, what a mess.......So it seems this Barker dude was making 200k! I bet several of ya'll old enough to remember long for the good old days- Manuel Maloof, Liane Levetan and Dick Hand. I sure would if I still worked there- which I'm counting my lucky stars I don't.

The wheels have completely come off of the Burrell Ellis administration. He needs to get out of the car and resign. He has no credibility left and I don’t see things changing in that regard.

It took Vernon a lot longer to lose his luster.

Ellis, what the hell is wrong with you? Are you going out of your way to look like a crooked, incompetent jerk out to screw over employees? There's no way someone could perform this poorly on accident!

I remember meeting Barker several times and he struck me as smart and smooth. I had been around here way to long to believe a word he said, but he talked a good game. As COO Barker was basically our boss. Under his tenure employee relations and morale reached new lows. Let us pray the next COO will be employee friendly, but realistically its not a happening thing. Ellis will bring in another elite yuppie and employees remain under valued resources to be wasted and abused.

Sort of sux, mates!

The staff of the CEO think they are all in charge of everyone. They are just as hateful to the officers as to citizens. I know I have seen how they talk to people.

If you read the article correctly its states that Barker began contacting her via email text msgs, he sent her 13 txt msgs over a 3 day period from his county phone. He initiated the relationship, she only befriended him on facebook. How many ppl have you initiated a relationship with by just sending them a facebook friend request. Come'on Son?!!! Bottom line, Barker is the superior and should have acted accordingly.
