Check her trial experience. How many cases has she prosecuted?

WHO THE HELL IS SHE?!? I've never even heard of this woman, who's she related to? Ellis? Wiz? Looks like Ellis is continuing Vernon's advancement of a DARKER DeKalb County. GABWA? Really? For thous of you who don't know GABWA stands for Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. Do we really need to continue the racial divide of this county especially after the county has already been found guilty of discrimination earlier in the year. This place is an atrocity! Can't wait to get the hell out of here!

That was tasteless!....that came across like a pig in lipstick. No matter how you dress it up, you just can't make it come across classy and uptown...

Wanna be comes to mind...

Did she really say use her relationships?

Hey Ellis, you know other races still live in DeKalb too. How come you can't find a qualified, experience Latino, Asian, or Caucasian person to appoint to more fairly represent the diversity of DeKalb County. Especially in light of the recent finding of discrimination by DeKalb County in FEDERAL COURT!

Why the hell do you need a hyphenated name? Well, the music is catchy.

Ellis was elected by a majority- black vote. He wants a 2nd term. Why would he not do whatever he needed to achieve that? Besides, I don't think that there was a candidate from the Ga Association of WHITE Women Attorneys. Wait...that's racist. I'm sorry.

Oh Me Oh My Oh said...

I dont believe Ellis appointed her. I dont believe he has that authority. the D.A. is an elected official, a 'Constitutional Officer" put into place by the votes of the people. Ellis has no authority over the D.A. Javoyne was most likely appointed by Gwen, I think until there is another election. I think under the circumstances the Governor may also be able to have appointed Gwen's replacement. There could be special election to depending on when her original term was set to expire.
Get someone PD friendly to run if that's the case. PD has a lot of power, use it. If Mr. Miller was interested, that might work out well...

According to the above article Gwen appointed her as a temporary replacement until Perdue appoints someone or calls a special election.

Gwen previously appointed her to Chief Assistant DA. They're both members of GABWA.

Learn more about Javoyne here:

I don't know what the law states, but when Gwen won the DA race in 2004, Perdue appointed LaGrua as Solicitor until the next regularly scheduled election for that office in 2006. So I suppose it's possible that if Perdue appoints someone then that person may be able to stay DA until the 2012 election.

I saw her lips move but she didnt say anything.

she will be just another do nothing district attorney, much like gwen keys, how long did gwen sit on the case with crawford Lews how many whistle-blowers lost their jobs in the process.we need a district attorney who can prosecute real criminals.

Of course she'll be a "do nothing." She already works in our DA's office!

We'd all be better off if Gwen takes a lot of the garbage working for her with her!

Criminal begets criminal once more in DeKalb! Dont you just love these self propogating fools taking care of one another at YOUR expense.
I have news for you disenchanted voters out there, who are sick of the nightly scandal in DeKalb on TV, unless you want more of this and higher taxes to boot, you had better vote for someone who has a clue regardless of thier race. Electing incompetents like Gwen Keys Flemming & Burrel Ellis is the very root of the problem in DeKalb. Your new DA was probably Gwens ex roomate in college or some other friend from the hood. I bet you one thing, she certainly didnt get where she is fixing to be because she knows whats she doing! GABWA....WTF is that?

Of course im anonymous.....we fear for our lives in this current reign of terror! Ask about Derwin Brown...

This story from CrossRoadsNews states: "The special election to replace Keyes Fleming will be on the Nov. 2 ballot and qualifying will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday."

If Hicks remains the interim DA and decides to run for the office, she'll have the power of incumbency working for her on the ballot.

One potential good thing about having an open special election on the general election ballot is that multiple people from both parties can run, so if enough people vote for a truly good candidate then that person can win if voters split their votes amongst the bad candidates.

Well let us look at the big picture. When keys left to go work for Obama she did it at the perfect time. She appointed who she wanted until a special election could be held. Then you have Mr. Robert James who is leaving as Solicitor to run for the DA job. Nest you have Nicole who is the Asst. Solicitor becoming the acting Solicitor until one will be named. Sounds to me like everyone wants different jobs. Wonder what will happen if Robert James looses and someone else is put into the Solicitors job. Wow that’s a big risk to go from a top job to possibly back in the private sector. My money is that Mr. James will not win the DA job to many other people more qualified. Stay Tuned for the results.

where is Jeffrey h. Brickman when you need him. we need him now! a real proscutor. oh they will vote for Robert James another do nothing, who will only prosecute young school children or a long time community activist who have worked tirelessly for the poor.

Thank you DKPD for catching that thug who gunned down a family friend! Even before funeral ararngements were made you all had your eye on the guy. Thank you for all you do!! Let's hope the BOC and CEO can get it together to protect you, those who serve us the most. And hopefully, a new DA will put that thug under the jail!
