Comstat Is Back!

The circus is coming back to town. Get ready for bullshit specials when we barley have enough units to put on the streets, not including the furlough days.

How many times are we going to try and reinvent the wheel?

And this is going to accomplish what exactly? We know where all the crime is already, is having a weekly meeting to remind us really going to change anything? If the issues are really manpower and material resources, having a weekly meeting to remind us of how thin we're stretched will do nothing. Dekalb County...a dog and pony show will fix everything...

I guess this is suppose to fool citizens into thinking that Dekalb Officers give a crap right now. Well we dont!!!! So this mule and peasant show by the "White Shirts" wont work. Dont you guys get it, stop trying to force us to be proactive and start standing up for us at the BOC meetings. If we see you fighting for us like our Sheriff then you might see some results. Its simple logic you are dealing with grown men and women not children. Soon there will be no Dekalb Officers left after they get tired of this crap from the BOC & "White Shirts". And for the sensitive ones by "White Shirts" we mean the wonderfull Wizard of Oz, and the invisible "O".

It's probably because Chief K is pissed the 12-hour shifts went away. He said no one better complain about manpower. So he will add more work to make the 12-hour shift idea come back.

Chief OB cant you control Crazy Crazy K. How long will you let him demoraliize the uniform division. Let the people do their jobs.

I'm retired - but, if memory serves me correctly the so-called "comstat" meetings were used to belittle and humiliate the precinct commanders - who then would belittle and humiliate the rank and file. If the numbers did not "improve", then, that commander would be moved around, demoted, etc...and a new rising star would be appointed and the cycle would start again. Ooooo...beat me, rape me, make me write badchecks...I'm sorry I left.

Chief K and Major S...destroying what little morale we have left.

Exactly what we need is more smoke and mirrors to right this sinking ship. When we decide to tackle the real problems we will then see morale increase and crime decrease. Oh and by the way Mr. Ellis did you see your neighbor to the East Mr. Bannister. Grand Jury hopefully here we come. Mr. Miller maybe you will have something to do with your time writing ideas for these meetings. Maybe we should schedule more community meetings to drag all of our resources to. This impresses the community much more than their home not being broken into. Nothing is gonna work until the whole top is changed. Wake up voters and save your county.

What going on with the posts that only give the persons title and last initial. Are we not identifying people now?

For those posting about how good Sheriff Brown is must not have been here for very long.

Do we all need a history lesson of when he was the Director????

Hey Blogmaster,

How about conducting a poll to see how many officers right now are considering applying to another department, how many have already applied to another department, how many have already left the department (since and not including retirements in May - provided they come back to this blog), how many 10+ year veterans won't apply to another department because they've been here too long, and how many are happy and would like to remain? I think those numbers would be very interesting for all to read, don't you?

You got it! Check the ride side column...best we can do. Our format will only allow one question.

Stay safe!

18+yr veteran here....
I've enjoyed the ride as best I can but I can no longer tolerate the insanity. Why in the world would I continue to allow the BOC along with the CEO to take more and more away from me and my family. I'm calling it quits...I've decided to take it to the private sector as much as I've enjoyed working with everyone I can not allow my family to continue to be raped by this ungrateful organization. It's been a tough decision only because I really have enjoyed my job and the skills and talents I've learned along the way...too that I can thank my fellow troops & officer's...it's only because of you that the ride was worth the price.
I wonder how many others will realize that the most important thing is your family and why continue to give and give to only be slapped down by having this hell hole of a department take more & more money from you....My family and my skills are worth much more than this place is paying me now.
All I can say to everyone else is don't think that you have to stay....you'd be very surprised to know that your skills and talents are extremely marketable if you look in the right places...the most important thing is the security and well being of your family.... I'm very fortunate but my new endeavor wouldn't have been possible if not for the training, skills and knowledge that I received in the last 18+yrs....thank you Dekalb. DKPD has spent lots of money training me over the years and it's probably staggering to think that its walking out the door but no one cares.....except my new destination because there it's money saved....
I've always tried to be a good leader and listen to what was going on around me. To be a good leader you have to learn to listen to your troops...but right now there is too much arrogance in the upper ranks for my blood... I can no longer be a part of a losing team

Get Smart Guys...Do it for your Families!!

Another one bites the DUST!!!

Well said Lone Ranger. I wish you the best in the private sector. I got lucky an left with early retirement but my husband wasn't as fortunate. If I knew where to look for him, I would, just so I could get him out of DeKalb.
