Dekalb Deputy Sheriff Shot

The shooting happened on Keys Crossing Road off Briarwood Road. Details are sketchy and will be updated as they comes in.

From all indications, the deputy should recover.

UPDATE: The deputy is listed in serious condition after being shot while serving a misdemeanor arrest warrant at Keys Crossing Condos. The deputy's partner returned fire striking the perp in the chest.

After being barricaded a few hours, the perp surrendered. Too bad this vermin didn't come to the door a second time with a gun in his hand so our S.W.A.T. guys could have ended his miserable life for him.

Godsped the deputy.

My prayers will be with the Deputy and his family. May he have a speedy recovery.

It was a very long wait to end this situation. Sheriff Brown wanted his SWAT team to come, so our SWAT had to contain until the DSO SWAT finally arrived. Then of course we still had to help them.

Its all about politics and not doing the job.

Our Director of Public Safety was on scene concurring with everything the sheriff said.

Glad to hear the Deputy was not hurt badly. Prayers to the family and himself. When will DeKalb citizens learn that shooting at LE officers is counterproductive and they will end up in prison or the hospital, or the morgue?

I was at the scene. I hoped he was going to bleed out or 52 himself inside the apartment. I'm glad the deputy is going to survive...but damn I don't know what kind of lasting injuries a shot from a .44 magnum is going to leave a human being with.
I really would have felt better if we killed the guy or he died by his own hand, but now it'll be in the hands of our ever so competent courts.

SO wants to take control of an active crime scene, but they won't do their job, like transporting prisoners to Recorder's Court and Mag Court. Once a perp is in jail, SO should be the ones handling court appearances.

Way to have no backbone, Wiz!

Why don’t you ask Director Miller why he did what he did? Did you ever think he wanted Thomas Brown to make a Jack Ass out of himself? Most of you guys have more law enforcement experience then Thomas Brown. You have to pick and choose your battles people. What can you do to change this place besides bitch, complain, and blame others?

Get well soon dude

To 10:59 pm don't give Director Miller that much credit. I'm sure it was just his normal waiting for guidance from above demeanor. The sheriff does out rank him as an elected official, the same way our CEO has no LE experience but is allowed to run a police department. Most important is a speedy recovery to our fellow public servant.

I sorry the deputy was shot and I hope he gets well soon...PD...also Pres. OBama just froze the salary of all Federal workers except the military. OBama appreciates the dangers that the military involves itself with and cares about military famaly's. Guess what BOC...WE are the military in Dekalb Co...if we were not here, I shudder to think of what would happen. You need to realize this. Don't screw with the military or law enforcement. They are the ones that save your ass every day.

It does not matter how long it took SO to handle the problem. It was their baby let them burp. The most important thing is for the speedy recovery for the Deputy. Plus all of SO SWAT is on call. They dont have take home cars either like our SWAT. Bottom line lets stand together as LE brothers and stop the division.

The deputy is going to be ok after some recovery time. It could have been much worse for him. Glad he is alive. The Director of Public Safety does not answer to the Sheriff. Maybe he was just being professional and showing some courtesy toward Brown. I have no problem with that.
The person who was shot was a DSO Deputy so maybe Sheriff Brown just wanted his guys to handle it. I guess I can understand that but as I understand it, the DSO SWAT Team is nowhere near as well equipped and trained as our SWAT Team, so maybe that was a bad idea on Brown’s part. Could have got someone killed.
The bottom line is the P.D. SWAT Team was there but did not get a chance to handle the situation.

P.D. Swat was there and should have handled the scene. What was the point of waiting THREE HOURS for S.O. Swat to show up?? THREE HOURS?? They don't have take home cars? And? Your point is? It shouldn't take them THREE HOURS to respond to a call out! Our Swat team was there in less than an hour ready to handle business like they always do. But noooooo. Thomas Brown had to put on a big show! Way to go, Brown! You sure showed everyone with your THREE HOUR LATE Swat Team!
