This man is so misleading, it makes us want to use another word to describe him.
He claims the county went through a significant downsizing in 2010. But he forgot to tell us he refilled those positions!

Downsizing means getting rid of people. Saying you're not going to fill vacant positions isn't downsizing, it's maintaining. There are a lot of unnecessary people employed by the county that need to go.
HA!
Did anyone else read the article in this Sunday's AJC about tax appraisals in DeKalb still being an average of 25% above market value? DeKalb was by far the worst in metro Atlanta when it came to appraisal accuracy (wow, imagine that!).
Wednesday's AJC will feature DeKalb exclusively, which will give even gorier details.
If and when appraisals are corrected in 2011, and DeKalb property owners get off their lazy butts and challenge the incompentent bureaucrats who are stealing their tax money, the county government and school system will be looking at major revenue shortfalls.
And how does Ellis prepare? By cutting spending? No, of course not. He wants to raise spending.
If you thought 2010 was bad, wait until next year...
I agree but that starts at the top, not the bottom. Dekalb gov't is so top heavy and needs to be downsized.
They waste money on audits and then do not follow the recommendations. Get rid of the of the positions we do not need and furnishing take home cars for all county employees.
How many employees live in DeKalb?
I do not want to sound like a broken record, but anyting Burrell Ellis says regarding no layoffs or downsizing is nothing more than hot air coming from his mouth. B.E. does not believe in saving an employee his/her job unless the employee is a personal friend of B.E. or a close family member. Its going to be business as usual and nothing will change in the future except higher taxes, useless promotions, and the forming of new committees or divisions, and none of it will be saving money from taxpayers. Its that simple !!!
Ellis..implement the recommendations from the study!
Is that a rubber-stamp signature on that letter????? Ugh
What a wolf in sheep's clothing HE has turned out to be...
Why not get rid of some Departments and move those employees to the 911 center to be dispatchers? The Center has its own budget and has 30-40 vacancies. If the employees do not like that, then they can stand in the unemployment line.
