Ga. Laws 3088 (to Increase Contributions). It is number D8 on the agenda and will be discussed before noon. The commissioners will vote to increase our pension contribution by 100%.
Here is a reminder from one of our strongest civilian supporters:
"This is JD and I just wanted to remind everyone that I will be speaking at the commission meeting tomorrow, Dec 7. (please be there at 8:45 if you will be attending).
I have spoken with or heard from officers who will attend the meeting as well and I hope to see more of you there.
While we won't solve all of the problems tomorrow, this is the beginning of raising public awareness and building momentum to pressure the BOC into making the right decision for DKPD officers in the future.
I hope to see and meet many of you tomorrow morning."
Sincerely,
JD
Thanks to JD. Hope everyone else can make it. We need to give the commissioners a preview of what's to come when the 2011 budget is discussed.

Without the very ones we protect, there will be no victory.
POLICE CANNOT DO IT ALONE WE NEED THOUSANDS OF CITIZENS LIKE JD TO BE THERE.
And that will not happen!!!!!!!
Thanks JD. See if you can get your neighbors to show your level of concern. Employee voices are not heard around this place. Speaking out has resulted in transfers, demotions, etc. We sometimes forget that there are folks out there who care.
I will b there....can't give up got to fight on!
I went to the CALEA public forum tonight at Fire HQ. I was the only person there. THE ONLY PERSON THERE. However I did stand up for us and expressed my concerns for PD. I addressed issues of morale, subpar leadership (mainly the BOC and CEO) and the lack of support from our community. Chief O'Brien was also in attendance and was very receptive to my comments. If our community won't support us and we won't even stand up for ourselves, why should the BOC and CEO care what we have to say? Just some food for thought...
THEY DON'T... Why do you insist on believing in fairy tales? Move on to a decent community and department along with everyone else that has any sense.
Fellows CALEA dont give a dang about leadership in our department. They just want to check the folders and make sure we have examples of what they are looking for.
Best of luck, mates! I have a broken rib that has kept me down since the holidays or I would be with you guys.
Its time for new leaders to step forward and engage DeKalb BOC in thoughtful debate of the shameful treatment of DeKalb employees.
Dang.... the retired guys who came to complain about the "golf course being temporarily closed during construction" out numbered the uniformed officers who took the time to show up.
Based on our piss poor showing, we deserve whatever the BOC does to us.
Recap...the measure passed its first reading.....
Rader made it clear that "it is not a decrease in pay".... since it is our money, it is not a decrease.
To Commissioner Rader, TELL THAT TO MY KIDS WHEN I TELL THEM DADDY CAN'T AFFORD THAT ACTIVITY AND TELL THAT TO MY CREDITORS WHEN I'M A LITTLE SHORT!
What Rader refuses to acknowledge is that while county employees have seen annual increases in health and pension deductions, they haven't seen a pay increase!
In addition to health insurance costs going up, I now will pay most of the annual costs out-of-pocket! Our health insurance isn't health insurance in the normal respect.....it now only insures us for the Catastrophic Health Care Emergency.
I can't believe there are people dumb enough to keep working there and paying for my pension. ...SWEET
Hey I got a way around the Health Care issue. Next time you need to see a doctor for a minor issue. Go to work get urself shot then while you are at Grady being treated for the gun shot wound, ask the doctor to look at the other issue...Haaa and the BOC thought they was messing with idiots..ain't that right Chief they think we dumb....
Standby for 5 day work weeks from manpower loss at first of year.
JD is a good guy..I have met him several times and he genuinely supports us and our cause..he fights the good fight..I wish there were more DeKalb citizens like him. Thank you JD!
