One Hell of a Sergeant. He served with Honor. Not to mention he was one heck of a cook. Those that had the honor to serve with Sgt. Harper policed in a time that has long since been gone. Thanks for the memories Zade, I'll always remember you. May God bless the Harper family.

When I hired out in '87 Sgt Harper was my supervisor on morning watch at Center pct. I can honestly say he was the best supervisor I've worked for in and out of law enforcement since. My prayers to his family, many thanks and God bless you Zade. TJ Krengel

Zade was a great sergeant and a great co worker. I worked the territory next to him as a rookie Sgt. I could always count on Zade for good advice and back up. God bless you brother.

For those of you who were not around to work with Zade, you missed out on seeing what a real sergeant was. He truly was the real thing. He always treated me fairly and I always respected him. He really was a good example for us all.

God bless you brother. We all loved you. Go in peace.

Zade was old school. Enjoyed working for him. He disarmed a man with a knife using a yard sign. Beat the perp until he dropped the knife. A crazy man armed with a baseball bat jumped on the hood of Zade's car one night. His response was to quickly accelerate then throw the car in reverse. Perp landed on the windshield the slid off the front of the unit. Classic. Also, Zade's deer/boar meat chili was the best. He will be missed. RIP Zade.

I was at a Christmas party when I received a call that Sergeant Harper made his transition. It affected me greatly to the point where I had to excuse myself from the festivities briefly.

Sergeant Zade Harper was my very first Sergeant with DKPD. Morning watch with guys like Higgy etc working the 50's and 70's. Sergeant Harper made such a positive impression on me that has stuck with me to this day. As a rookie who didnt know which pot to piss in, Sergeant Harper was my biggest influence. I remember always knowing where to 59 with him for J2 check (Service Merchandise or school system parking lot), where he was reading his papers and waiting patiently. You always knew not to disturb him with BS.

I can easily say that he is one of only three or four people I looked up to at DKPD for ANYTHING. Zade was the first.

211, rest in peace Sir. I still am what you helped me to be. Never will you be forgotten.

On behalf of my late husband, retired Sgt Chris Young, my thoughts are with the family of Zade Harper. Chris held Zade and Susan in high regard, as did I. They were very supportive of both of us during Chris' illness. Good folks. God bless you and give you grace.

Man the world has lost a great guy. Quiet and unassuming. I didnt work for him but everyone knew who he was and would stop and talk.

God bless his family and his friends.

I was one that had the privilege of working the center precinct, “wolf Pack” morning watch under Sgt. Zade Harper. He was truly a cops cop. I learned things from Zade that I will carry with me always. I’m sure he and Gifford are talking over old times now. RIP brother, you have definitely earned it….

East still has supervisors like that. Too many serious things going on to sweat the small stuff.

Zade was my 1st sergeant when I started in DeKalb in 1986 and I learned so much from him. He definately looked after his troops and was right there with us As a rookie on my first week alone, he scared the crap out of me when I made a mistake and I thought I was about to lose my job, but that was just Zade's way of teaching me the right way. Behind that tough character he appeared to be, was a heart of gold. He ws truely one of DeKalb's finest. God bless you Zade and may God continue to comfort Susan, his wife and family.

Zade an I were in VP-28, flight crew on QC-3, during the late 60's we spent a lot of hours chasing Russian subs around the Pacific ocean and flying Vietnam costal waters. We had some great times flying the Pacific. Saddened to hear of his passing. He was a great shipmate.

Zade Harper was a true friend and mentor. He was my training partner and then Sgt. for many yrs. All officers under him know that he took care of his people. After my divorce Zade always had a kind word for me and for yrs. Zade would bring me a big choc. cake for my birthday ,that he had baked himself and made sure to wish me HB in front of everyone. He worked hard to make it a good day for me. I will never forget that kindness. He went beyond the call of duty. I can only say "He was one hell of a friend, co-worker and boss. "Zade we'll miss you very much. You were like a big brother with a big heart." With great respect, Grady "By God" Thurmond 772 DOW
