"Officers also could lose their police certification."......

or get promoted, placed in charge of sensitive, special units...... then end up under federal indictment.

You have to love it when POLITICIANS have people appointed to high positions. I'm not saying Big Vern and Lil Vern are some of the ones involved.

This will be interesting to see how it plays out.
When Don Franks did the same thing in 2002 it was all quietly investigated and hushed up. Same thing with Vern's executive security detail running counter-surveillance against the DA's office, Vern's rape charge, and the unreported incident in Newton County between Vern's executive security and DKSO with guns drawn by both parties. I would of loved to seen that!
As ineffective as CEO Ellis is, at least he has kept out of the scandals that plagued Vern and embarrassed the county.
My prediction is the judge will be reprimanded only, my guess is that the investigator had received GCIC training and knew what they were doing was against regulations, hence the firing. The Judge received no training and will be slapped on the wrist. Seems a little strange that when citizens appear before the judge and claim they did not know what they were doing was against the law, the Judge proclaims "ignorance of the law is no excuse for the crime" and are placed on probation. Yet when the judge do same thing they get the benefit of doubt unavailable to the citizens.
CH employees call it “Robitous”, as soon as the judge gets the robe their ego goes into overdrive and they can do no wrong. Not all judges are ego-maniacs. Judges Seeligar and Carrie I remember with kindness. Judge Workman was the most abusive to the employees, but was a hard worker whose productivity was double her contemporaries. I made damn sure that whenever I dealt with her that I had done more than specified and kept her happy. I will never forgive her for closing the Callaway Building snack bar. She didn't want the noise or employees intruding upon her space. She had soundproof offices but she enjoyed fracking with the employees. I understand she married Pat Jarvis. Judges have complex personalities and their ego's should never be underestimated by employees or citizens.

LoFlyer: I think if you will search a little deeper, you'll find that Jarvis is not married to Annie Workman. It is Judge Gail Flake.

Anon 7:50, Your right! After I posted I looked at it and it didn't seem right either, thanks for the correction! Judge Workman I apologize! Every employee that has ever met you thinks that you are a total witch who would probably be better off marrying a crook like Pat Jarvis than staying single! As for Judge Flake, love must of triumphed over common sense. I think that has happened to me a couple of times also!

"officers must have probale cause to run tags"
Um NO, my agency has 6 vehicles equipped with automatic plate readers looking for no insurance, stolen cars, wanted people.

This was addressed in 2 trooper legal updates last year also. Officers can run tags all day and night without any reason so long as they dont use the information for something other than looking for violations.
