Jeff Wiggs, President of F.O.P. Tells Commissioners We Want To Get Paid!

Good for Jeff Wiggs! He told the commissioners we, the ones who fulfilled our duty, deserve to get paid for the winter storm days.

Jeff told the commissioners "If your office was open and you are not able to get into work, you still get paid. What’s the advantage of coming to work? My counter-part got paid for sitting home with his family," Wiggs told commissioners. "I ask you to rescind this or at least give my officers comp time so they can take a day off.”

We hope it works, but we know the mentality of the commissioners.

Thank you Jeff. You certainly have my support on this one since I did what I had to do to report as expected and on time. However, I don't think the BOC due to the budget crisis can fund paying us comp time in order to make things fair. I do think and agree with the other side of it that the BOC should rescind this action and charge the employees who failed to show, though excused, with an alreaady accrued vacation day or holiday. After all, that would already be using a benefit already allocated for rather than paying someone for no work performed.

My two cents...

Jeff......Face it, if Wm. Burrell Ellis wanted to give you any type of raise, he would tell you lies about why he couldn't. He can raises to those friends who leave the county for various reasons including unscrupulous dealings, just to get rid of them.

He can let certain people work for free (ha ha) because the have nothing else to do, and he can make up excuses to hide behind the truth.

All in all though, it still means no money for your officers. Your Public Safety Director ought to be the one fighting for y'alls raise, but he is thinking about about his own pockets.

I wish that I had a viable answer for your problem, but this county is so mis-managed, that the best computer program to straighten this mess out, would not help in any way.

Just keep you fingers crossed and hope.

The only way to get the point across is for every A$$ listed on the promotional lists to turn the shit down....The Capt, Lt, & Sgt's list's...all of them....the only problem is like everything else the A$$es in this Dept won't stick together. Well let me tell you, when you get to my name on the Lt's List just go ahead and move on....I refuse to accept this BS and I won't....I bet I'll be the only ass to turn the shit down but at least I have my principles and dignity. I intend to make a freakin stand...I only hope others follow suit.

Hey buck Rogers,
Did you place so far down on one of those lists that would be your only hope of being promoted?
You guys and girls on the promotion list take the promotion; you will at least get a 5% pay increase. Sorry about the other 5% Mr. Stonger has rescinded it. Lots of Love.

Thank you Jeff.... for

1) your telling it like it is and

2) for showing my team that I wasn't joking when I told them they need to join the FOP, the ONLY organization standing up for us.

If you are a detective and get promoted you lose money.

There goes your take home car which saves you more than a five percent raise. Then other point is you only work Day or Evenings never Morning watch. When was the last time someone other than a Major Felony or Swat was ever called on their off time to come to work?

Hey Anon,
I guess when you see me turn it down you'll know exactly where I placed...You won't have to hold your breath long...it'll be sooner than you think you Putz. Maybe then they'll get to you on that Lt's list

"at least I have my principles and dignity. I intend to make a freakin stand" Well Buck just give us your name. You want to stand up do so, dont hide behind your keyboard.

Buck, why wait.....take a public stand and lead by example...... post your request for removal from the list below this post. Time to take your public stand ....your Iwo Jima flag raising moment has arrived.

Buck Rogers,

I understand your feeling. You should do what you feel you need to do that is proper for your own self-respect and principles. And to any others who feel the same and you all hold your heads high. To that end, I support your decision and you have my respect.

...There are those who will take or otherwise seek promotions under this terrible new circumstance for they may still benefit albeit slightly. Then there are others like perhaps Buck Rogers who will not and therefore suffer instead. The bottom line, getting or seeking promotion will now require far greater thought of pro versus con. If you are a detective or in some specialized position, man did this apple just sour the basket.

You know nothing surprises me anymore. I feel bad for the ones who are seeking to advance their career by taking promotional test. The dept. needs good leadership and always will and it's a shame that this is the reward they get for their efforts. I would think that since the rules have changed during the middle of the game that the ones who are currently on any promotional list would be exempt from this new found rule because the terms for when they signed up have changed. They took the test with the understanding that their hard work would be rewarded with a 10% increase, and because of this the terms should remain that way for them. This new policy, which is a disaster for morale and getting further officer's to participate, should only effect any new test or promotions that are given. The officer's on the current promotional list busted their tails to get where they are because they knew what they were fighting for. Then with the stroke of a pen you're gonna change the game plan on them.

The implementation of this policy should only effect new test takers. The current list of eligible promotions should be grandfathered in because they took these test under completely different circumstances. The only problem is this would make to much sense, and quite frankly will fall on deaf ears...

This is LoFlyer, my login is not available for some reason. I'll figure out something soon.....
Stognar is an able administrator, and most of y'all have pointed out Stognar's numerous faults.
First of all, I have dealt with Stognar several times in the past, only Tom Scott has pissed me off more than Richard Stognar in a personal interaction. Tom Scott and I got along fine after several years, we both understood what each was trying to accomplish with the available resources we had to accomplish the job. No problems after that.
Richard Stognar was totally different. Totally professional, even while shamelessly lying, unlike Tom Scott who cared about good customer service to his constituents and providing fair and honest dealings with the citizens and employees. Tom cared about his employees, as the Tax Commissioners office is funded by both the State and County, Tom observed that his employees were eligible for both county and state pensions, if they paid for it. Tom advised they do so and subsequently many Tax Comm. employees are retiring with two pensions.
My best description for Richard Stognar is a political henchman in the classic sense. In the feudal days in Europe, the Lords and Kings had trusted, ruthless and efficient hired employees who would do anything the rulers wanted. (Oppress the serfs and kill their enemies) These men were referred to as henchmen and the term still sees some use today to describe a criminal. History lesson over.
My attitude towards Richard Stognar is that he is a classical henchmen in every sense of the word.
Dekalb employees are his serfs. Combined with the CEO and BOC, Stognar has done more to hurt DeKalb employees benefits, pay and morale than any entity in 50 years.
Frankly no sane employee believes a damn word Stognar, the CEO or BOC says. All we know is that is that DeKalb CEO's, BOC and the judges staff are making way more than our neighboring counties staffs, and we are making way less. Yet DeKalb government policy is to screw the employees, then repeat.
Whenever Stognar the CEO or the BOC care to engage employees with intelligent discussion, we are ready, willing and able.

Observe the reactions as Jeff speaks. This county will NEVER recognize or respect the FOP for OBVIOUS reasons. Abandon ship folks before you drown.
