Why Doesn't DeKalb Join ChatComm?

Seems ChattComm has their stuff together and is up to date with technology, while we still have calls dispatched to the wrong precincts.

There should be an investigation into our E911.

DeKalb would never join ChattComm because
1. It would be an admission of its incompetency
2. Control of jobs would be lost
3. Burrell has to have a place that he can assign WIZ to so that the $150K per year salary can be justified.

Its a simple answer!!! First, look who is charge of the 911 system. Look at what is being trained onto the individuals at the 911 system. How many personal calls are taken at the 911 system? One has to learn the terrain before dispatching services.

It doesn't take a ROCKET SCIENTIST to figure what wrong with our 911 system, just a lot of common sense, a degree of intelligence plus the knowledge of the English language. That all !!!!

Um, lil Vernon does not have a consultant friend working there yet. He's probably working on it though.

Didnt chatcom just screw up routing a call that delayed firefighters to a brookhaven home? Just a question....i think the 911 system should at least be a real time system. Back in the day if a in progress call came in it was dispacthed and still in progress. Now there is a time lapse.

we have known since before they installed the current cad system that it would never work..we need a new cad and to raise the bar on our hiring standards

Anon #2 You are reeaal intelligent. "...how many personal calls are taken at the 911 system..." that question alone, and the wording shows how much of an IDIOT you are and have no idea what you're talking about. DO *YOU* SPEAK ENGLISH the way you WRITE ??? LOLOL

Its horrible when We are responding to a call....and the call was dispatched to me 15 minutes AFTER the call. It's even worse when i am dispatched to a call 15 minutes after it was recieved and then it ends up being a call that should of been dispatched to a whole other precinct.

Serious problems. Serious problems.

The woman who reported the house fire in Brookhaven admitted mistakenly telling the ChatComm operator that she was in Atlanta, when she actually lived in unincorporated DeKalb. The woman said she was panicked and told the operator she was in Atlanta because her zipcode is Atlanta.

No, they didn't screw up routing the call. They routed the call to Atlanta because the homeowner said they lived in Atlanta. Even though that's where their mail is addressed, they are actually in unincorporated Dekalb. Registering the cell phone from which the call was made with Smart911 would have helped. But this can NOT be blamed on Chattcom and NO I DON"T work for ChattCom.

Becasue they dont have to, maybe. But it sure does look better on tv.

Anon 8:56 chatcomm does not cover brookhaven that is Dekalb county . The call got routed to dkpd then chatcom then Atlanta then back dkpd . Plus the idiot homeowner did not what city he or she lived in.

That call can be blamed on everyone. Simply ask the cell caller what COUNTY they live in, not the city. That would have stopped all of this....training, training, training. On top of that, technically they all violated state law because of the one transfer rule per caller to get to the right center...ASK FOR THE COUNTY!!!!!

I agree. I don't like how they ask what Zip code you are at. Or what City. half the idiot citizens in this state that live in Metro atlanta Would reply they lived in the city of atlanta if asked.

They need to start asking What county these callers live in. Then city/then zip code.

This is what happens when 4 square miles decide to start their own 911 center, and the next 4 square miles start their own 911 center. You know, the rest of the country is consolidating their emrgency services in order to save money. It's only here, in the knuckle dragging south, that every other 15 houses have decided they need their own police department and 911 center.
