Welcome to the era of Assistant Chief Mike Yarbrough.
He demoted 2 Majors last week, and now he shakes up the watch commanders.

Ain't it great how just last week they were asking for volunteer sergeants to transfer to other precincts, but they pull the rug out from under the lieutenants?
So much for loyalties.
Get the CRAZY GLUE out and only use several drops as this will help take the chair with you.
"Forward Ho !!!"
Ouch.....so, are the sergeants next?
Sergeants are next.......... , so hold on tight.
SO thankful to be away from that circus
AS USUAL uniform gets dumped on ONCE AGAIN... Why not change supervision in ALL units if there is such an immediate issue? I'm sure CID supervisors are making sure all their cases are closed cleared, YEA RIGHT...
And O'brien stands by! Is is the chief or what?????? Who is in control here????
What in the hell is this supposed to accomplish.......
The Hair has spoken!
Morale just got worse lets face it.
This has to be the worst Uniform Chief we've ever had. Nothing like this ever happened under Bolton. Yarbrough really thinks he's a god. If you ever talk to the guy, no matter what subject matter is being discussed, he is an expert on that subject. Oh, but I see he took care Lt Berg, who is Major Harris' boy. So you send Berg back to Tucker to supervisors sgts he was a peer with just 2 months ago. I'm sure he will be very effective supervising them.
OMG... Last I saw the Patch says DeKalb County. Go to work do your job.
Yarbrough says he made the moves to balance out the precincts. If a Lt has a lot of CID experience he would pair him up with a Lt who only had uniform experience, etc, etc. He says having Lts with different experiences would help the watches run better. Well I guess Yarbrough is so smart that he has figured out a theory that no other Chief in the metro area thought about. The guy is insane! So using his logic, then his theory should also apply to CID, Special Ops, Training, etc.
Im glad they got moved around. Some got a little too comfortable. The sgts SHOULD be next, then MPO's. You guys need to get off your rear and start doing what you were hired to do. If you dont like all the supposed injustices, leave. There are plenty of places that will hire you, possibly. Quit your whining!
Im so happy I just have a job, I will work under any negative conditions, and do so with a fat smile on my face.
I really enjoy working here, and look forward to shaking the hand of the man who makes the rules.
I mean Tebo would shake my hand also but it always felt a little greasy, but come to think of it so does Yarbrough's. Well that could just be the hair tonic I suppose I really dont think he would be tgrying to sliup me a little something would he?
Slippery you deserve to be slapped right in the damn mouth. I just hope when you go to work today that someone does just that.
What the hell is wrong with you, who in the hell would want to work in a negative enviorment.
That serves no purpose but only to lower morale, which equals a non productive employee.
Wanted I am currently seeking a good used Blackberry phone, that has my numbers alredy programmed.
YEEHAW!!!! Let the good times roll baby!!! CHARGE!!!!
Has anything really changed since Chief Bolton left? They promote and demote and transfer the ones not on their favorite list.
If your outspoken or question anything your put on the list.
I feel Bolton and Vernon are still here but with different names and titles.
Just remember when you think it cannot get any worse then comes someone who thinks they are better and smarter than everyone else.
Loving my 7am-3pm job...glad to be outta there!
QT is always hiring, most of you are there all the time anyway
The citizens in South Dekalb certainly grilled Yarbrough!

Wait until his hair spray quits working , we are all toast .
He always been an stuck on himself.
Just ask him.
Guess what......he doesn't care what you think or write about him on here, he has a job to do and is doing it. Get over it, do your job, and maybe someday you will make rank and you can decide who goes where. Hard work pays off people, just not in DeKalb County, come to work do your job gain experience then go to another agency and rule. DeKalb is not the big leagues anymore, the reactions I got when I told someone I worked for DeKalb was either a chuckle or a I'm sorry from officers in the surrounding metro area. Get out while you still can, and quit being the butt of everyones jokes. Dekalb was great in the 80s 90s, but it is no longer a great place to live or work.
Damn people...wake up and smell the coffee.
The line officers, the sergeants, the lieutenants, the captains and the majors don't set the priority. The MESSAGE is that "the demoted majors and those who were moved didn't get the message".
IMHO....The people calling the shots want tickets before J1's. Bring in J1's without tickets....your life at DKPD will not be pleasant in the short run.
It's THEIR game... they call the shots. You follow orders or get demoted/transferred. It's not rocket science. In the private sector if you failed to bring in what your boss was looking for, you are fired. If the boss wants to see a number of cold calls made from your desk, you make the cold calls... you don't meet with clients until you've given the boss what is wanted.... Your time does not belong to you until, you've given the boss what is wanted.
Damn....just get some tickets... then focus on J1's. Seatbelt citations are easy....and they may lead to an arrest or two.
Grow up already.
Has anyone found my phone yet?
Remember guys I still love you! DKPD is the best of the best!

I agree there is way too much whining going on. Im sure most of the ppl whining are slugs anyway. All i want is clarity on what the higher ups want from us. Dont leave us in the dark to guess. I love the job i do and i work on a first come first serve basis. If i see an opportunity for a -67 first ill grab it or if i see a 53 im -7. But if they want tickets just tell me so i will stop risking my safety with all my 99F arrest. I will stay outta East Hampton and other high drug traffic areas catching these perps with us currency more than $500 and drugs on them and having narcotics come get the money. Im sure i wont get nearly as many use of forces writing tickets. Just tell me what ya'll want.

You are not totally correct. According to Yarbrough, some of the lieutenants were moved because they were indeed doing a great job. They were swapped out with some lieutenants who were not doing such a great job. He wants to "balance out the precincts." As a previous poster stated, if you look at the numbers both Tucker Evening and Day Watches had the best stats in terms of arrests and citations of any other Evening and Day Watches at all precincts. They both were 1 and 2 in both areas. They were sent to precincts/watches that werent doing too well. Maybe stats had nothing to do with it. Maybe it was the experience factor. Yarbrough also said he didnt want 2 senior or 2 less experienced lieutenants on the same watches. Again, his attempt to balance things out. Let's see how it goes. No big deal either way. I will do my job regardless of who my lieutenant is. Actually, as a sergeant, i look forward to learning a different management style from a different lieutenant. Hopefully it will help my development as a supervisor. Maybe they will move the Assistant Chiefs around too.
Anon 10:14 AM....bad idea to compare DKPD to that of the private sector. If it were comparable to the private sector half the command staff would have been fired and due to bad/low moral and pissed off employees DKPD would be out of business and replaced by a more competant organization (ie DKSO).
Dont write tickets.....for people with guns and badges some of you are the biggest ------- to grace the face of the earth. Clueless and --------!!!!!!
Stop drinking the water. As long as there are fools who go out and write citations for the latest chief, assistant chief or major flavor of the month they will always treat us like crap.
All of this complaining about Yarbrough demoting, promoting, and moving people could have been avoided if there was better communication going on between the 4th floor and the troops. I get that they don't have to explain their decisions to us, but if they want to improve morale and help us all understand what's going on, they should explain it to us. Just because they don't technically have to explain stuff to us doesn't mean they shouldn't.
YEP, you're only as good as the numbers you bring in at the end of the shift these days. Unfortunately this will not change in our lifetime and the enjoyable days of police work are part of the past, at least at this department. Accept this and adapt or admit it's not for you and move on to something else.
I thought we had a Director in place to stop this sort of madness!! Where is he on this issue? Does he not care about the morale of his police department?
Yarbrough is a product of what happens when you promote someone who was an E-3, never saw combat and who could only fantasize of being a military officer while playing with his G.I. Joe toys.
Next thing you know, we'll be saluting rank.
No fan of Yarborough here but if the changes were for the reasons stated here. To strengthen management, I'm for that...if you have two strong Lt's on a watch, it not a bad deal at all but if you have two weaker or inexperienced on the same watch it's bad. I have been transfered numerous times. Part of the job.
I am one of the Lieutenants who is being transferred. I worked with a great group of people at the Tucker Precinct, I will miss them greatly because they have been my family for the past 3 years and I am confident that they will continue to do what they do best. Initially the news of the transfer stung but now it’s time to shake it off and keep moving. I worked the old South Precinct in the 90’s so much has changed in terms of geography, so if I get lost I trust my guys will understand. I look forward to my new assignment and I am confident that in time we will make a great team. I look forward to new experiences and building relationships with my new crew.
Way to say it Lt. C. Maybe some guys who came out of the academy and went to one precinct and stayed need a change of scenery also. You did not sign on to police only where your buddies are or where your part time is. You serve the whole county, except the parts that were smart and broke off. This whole comfort zone thing has to go. We know that many are way too cozy with their beats, if you know what i mean. By the way I agree where the hell is that damn Wiz Miller?
Paranoia
Please don't refer to me as Sgt. (A1)
I prefer 'STEAK SAUCE'.....
I need y'all to hate.. That's what drives me..
I thought y'all forgot about me. It bothered the heck out of me..
But guess what????
I'm baaaaaaaack.... Hahahahahahahahaaaa
Ps. Me n my New York 'homeboy' can't wait for the Lieutenant test... DEUCES!!!
Pick your battles.
Steak Sauce, take some advice from one supervisor to another, pick your battles and stay in your lane.
I agree with Sgt. steak sauce. All yall haters can't stop him from taking the Lieutenants test. I don't agree with hating him though. A Battle???? What the hell can yall do to him, that hasn't been done already!!??
Why the hell is Higdon screwing with the old guys? Could it be he's hoping to force them to retire so he can get his boy promoted?
Pretty sad. No loyalty left in this place.
Awww isn't that sweet T Lindsey is on here taking up for her new man Sgt Steak Sauce. Well guess what? you are not exempt he will verbally and physically abuse you just like he has done these rest of his women.
Steak Sauce no one has forgotten about you. You are just too insignificant to mention but every now and then we show you some love!
Yall thought I was hard, keep on calling me A1 and you will see the best is yet to come. I love the attention and yall will soon tooooooooo. Hallaaaaaaaaaaa.
Guys...go for the hair (Yarbrough's)! He assumes a fetal position and sucks his thumb if anyone - or anything - messes with his hair! Been there, seen it, got the t-shirt to prove it!
NOSRADAMUS makes predictions on what is next:
Yarbrough will go after the Sergeants next. He will threaten and try to intimidate them. He will then transfer them to different precincts or watches because they do not live up to his standards and follow his plan.
Yarbrough is not done with the Majors. He will let a little time pass and begin to intimidate a couple more of them. Some of them have still not realized that he is God and are not kissing the ring enough. He will want to replace them with his boys who will worship him and his plan.
Yarbrough will go after a couple of Captains and Lieutenants and may even seek to demote a couple of them. Why? They do not live up to his standards and they are not following his plan. They are not appointed and are merit protected you say? Doesn’t matter because Yarbrough is God. Clearly you can see that he trumps the merit system.
Yarbrough will begin to create his own police department within the Uniform Division. For example, he may want to create his own narcotics unit and other specialized units within his division. Why? Because he is smarter than the other three Assistant Chiefs and he can do it better. He is also smarter than Chief O’Brien. Did I mention he is God?
I realize that I am not God and as a mere mortal I could be wrong on my predictions. As a mere mortal I also can not understand Yarbrough’s crime fighting plan as it is clearly far over my head.
Why isn't CID transferring people around? Whats good for one should be good for them all!
Who gives a sh&t, unless the new boss takes away my arrest powers i'll still rack up the felony arrests.
Do your job, if you cant handle this department then go work somewhere else.
It is "not" the transfers that are hard to swallow.....it's the way they are handed "down". I don't care if you have "worn the patch" one day or one year (etc)...everyone deserves respect. I could handle the any change and/or transfer...but I would appreciate more than a one-day's notice. Or some rude, short, one-ass comment - "its time for change".
That's low ball and demoralizing.
But then again, the chain of command stoops to an even lower level when you "wanna make a quick phone call from home" to tell an officer that "starting tomorrow - your watch has changed".
Those in "rank" should at least have the decency to "talk" and "communicate" with your officers.
Anon 3:08
I agree; it's about respect and common courtesy. This Yarbrough guy brags about what a great leader he is. He even tried to organize a 'leadership' class a couple of years age, starring himself, of course. He says he transferred some lts because they were doing a great job and some because they were not doing such a great job, but this great leader didnt bother to tell any lieutenant which category they fell under. A great leader would tell you, so you can either continue doing a great job, or rise up to meet his expectations. Then again, he learned from the best, Rodney Rancifer. Leadership from the top! Where is Wiz Miller?
Yarbrough is too dumb to realize he'll be a captain shortly after the next CEO election, if not sooner.
Why is Yarbrough still the commander of the bomb team? Dude, you are an assistant chief. Can you say 'power freak.'
Anon 8:31
It's simple! He is god remember. The Bomb Team couldnt survive without his leadership.
